...Guys. Have any of you ever woken up in the morning and been sat around doing nothing at all of any importance and then gotten up because you just thought of a character that needed to be made? Because I think I just got that. *looks around* I hope I'm not too late to make super epic changes. And I hope making these epic changes does not screw anything up, though I doubt it would.

Or he's still reading that profile I sent him yesterday. It may have caused him to spontaneously set on fire with how utterly nonsensical it is to any kind of plot we might have had up to this point.

...

You know what, you're probably right gamermn. It must be the other dimension thing. That's the only one that makes sense.

Hokay, back by popular demand is Surge, and you guys all know what that means (or at least, you should do!)

Due to an influx of less savoury players in the prequel, this episode will have an audition-style entry process: eg you post your sheet, I consider it with my cynical head on, then pass it to a bunch of bitter, jaded bastards several players form Surge 1, who will advise me.
Note: You will be judged on spelling, punctuation and grammar, as well as previous history on RPs. Eg if you're lovely but illiterate, you don't have much chance, and you're a poet, but you're also a douchebag, you won't get in either.

Some people (you know who you are) get free entry, as they have proved their loyalty to the Party roleplaying skills, and since they are those who made the first episode so awesome, I feel I can trust them.

In order to fuel the creativity of the players, I will not be providing a structured character sheet. Instead, you may write something that you feel describes your character. I'd like an appearance, a sane power, and some kind of idea about who the hell you are. other than that, it'sup to you, but make sure it fits the universe.

Full history can be found here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/362.143318#3210727], but to put it simply, there was, six months ago, a massive outbreak of super powers, several hundred deaths, and a city was damn near demolished. There was and attempted cover-up, but lots of people now believe that there are such things as super powers.
Your character may get their power from the previous outbreak, have had it from childhood, or have discovered it randomly between then and now.
The game will be in a different city, so don't worry about explaining away your absence in theprevious game

So yeah, that's it. I will me making a limit at ten players, so get writing.

Also, those with secure places still need to post, both so other players are aware of you, and to give people a hint as to the kind of style I'm looking for.
Hey, here's my character sheet

Name: Marcus williams

Age: 19

P.O.B: Edinburgh,Scotland

Height: 6 feet

Appearance: Quite thin, pale skin, spiky, short brown hair with blond highlights, hazel eyes, always wears a black hoody and jeans, black lacoste or nike trainers

Power: The ability to control and create fire, however, the amount he can create is limited

Bio:From an early age Marcus was awlays agile, this led him to become an expert at parkour. Moved from Scotland after an unfortunate "inccident" with the local police. Decided to move to the city because his sister lived there. He got a job working behind a desk until there was a "inccident" with one of his co-workers.

His sister was one of the first to be killed by the surge. Marcus saw her being crushed by falling debris and was unable to help. The experience affected him deeply and continues to do so. A few days after the surge Marcus started arguing with a man in a bar he frequents, when the man tried to hit him his arm burst into flames and was soon engulfed in the inferno, Marcus later discovered the man died from his wounds.

At first Marcus tried to avoid confrontations, it seems whenever he became enraged he ignited his opponent. As the day went by however, he noticed that he could manipulate the fire from his lighter. by the time a week had went passed Marcus could produce small fireballs that he could throw.

Sorry mate, but the sheets have been judged, and the floor is no longer open. Maybe next time...

In other news, here are the players who have passed this round of judging!

Name: Reginald Silva

Age: 18

Appearance : Reginald or "Reggie" as he prefers, Is between 5 and 6ft tall. He's of Jamaican origin but the only evidence of this is his skin colour and his dreadlocked hair. He wears a simple plain combat jacket and combat trousers. The jacket is left open revealing a battered black tank top, to be honest, most of his clothes look this way. He is of a medium build and has a slightly brutish yet gentle face. Sharp green eyes pierce out of his complexion.

Powers: Reggie has the power of Telekinesis. He can control physical objects using his mind (within reason). He can also move himself with his mind. This gives him increased speed and even levitation. This self-telekinesis has many uses and is a skill not many possess.

Bio: Reginald was born into a rich family. He was that kid who had everything he wanted. That was until he lost everything. Both his parents disappeared without a trace. Reginald was to be given a new home with relatives. That was before he disappeared himself. He ran away from what used to be called home. He was only eight.

He began to carve out a life for himself on the streets. He would steal his way along. What was a livelihood for a shopkeeper, was a free meal for Reggie. What he couldn't eat, he sold on. Life was a desperate never ending struggle to survive. Reggie was tested day in and day out. One such test came for him on the eve of his ninth birthday. Two old street dwelling children had chased him through the streets and now down through and alleyway. It was a dead end. No way out. The boys moved in on him. He fell to his knees facing them and sobbed. They laughed at him as they drew nearer.

There's no hope He thought to himself in the darkness. Why can't the walls just fall in on them, on me? He pressed his head against the sold hard ground. fall in...

He passed out.

He awoke moments later to a hub of confusion. The two buildings either side of him had partially collapsed. The two boys were buried under the rubble.

Did I do that? He thought to himself, he got scared and ran.

Not long after he discovered them, he started to use his powers to survive. Stealing was easier when the objects floated right out of the store directly to you. By the time he was 18, he was profound at using his powers. Still on the streets, but not doing as bad as most, Reggie was a master in Telekinesis.

Name: Nathan Andrews

Appearance: Physical: 29, Male, short spiked brown hair, brown eyes, stands around 6'5'', his face is 'sharp' (Pointed nose, narrowed jaw and chin), he has some muscle, but is by no means bulky. He has scars from the car crash he and his wife were in, on his chin, shoulders, chest, back and legs. His overall demeanour is that of your average adult.

Clothing: He normally wears a gray trench coat, white shirt, dark sunglasses (Depending on weather conditions), black pants and black shoes. He also wears a cracked gold wrist watch and white gold diamond studded wedding ring.

Psychological: Sociopath tendencies, social, prone to angry outbursts, attempt at a good nature, follows own morale code

Powers: Puppeteer: From each of Nathan's fingers, an invisible 'Spirit String' can shoot out and latch onto a person, allowing him to ether take control of them. The strings have unlimited range (when attached to the host), however the farther away the person is, the greater the chance that they will break free. The Strings go in through the back of the neck, and wrap around the brain. Once a connection with the host is broken, he cannot use that string again for 24 hours.

The Host: When attached to a Spirit String, the victim becomes a host to that string. Nathan has the ability to do anything he wants to them, include allowing them to go on with their lives without him even knowing they've been infected. He can pull them to him at a rapid pace, whip them about, use them as shields, etc. He can even look through the eyes of a Host, but this leaves him unaware of his own surroundings.

Steel String Master: The Strings can turn solid and become sharp enough to slice through metal. These are called Steel Strings. However, the strings cannot go straight from Spirit to Steel, and must be retracted for 24 hours for the transformation to be complete.

Bio: Nathan Andrews had been living the good life. He was had a job as chief editor for his town paper and married a beautiful women named Amanda who was a preschool teacher. They both loved each other very much, and Nathan would even come in on some days and do puppet shows for the kids, which was a special talent of his. When he and his wife found out they were soon to be parents, they decided to move to the big city, in order to give their child more opportunities in terms of school, sports, etc.

On their drive out of the town, they were hit by a group of drunken teenagers. Amanda was killed on impact and Nathan just managed to survive. The young man driving the truck was let off the hook, as the mayor was his father and instead dropped Nathan a check instead for $500,000. This ended up barely covering for Nathan's medical bills and the rest he spent of lawyers in court, only to have the case dropped again.

Something inside Nathan finally snapped and that's when he discovered his ability. He found that he could control people like the puppets he so often used and if needed could turn the strings to terrible weapons. The night he awakened his powers he went on a rampage, taking control of the mayor's son, making him kill his mother, his father (The mayor), his friends and almost the town sheriff before the young man was finally gunned down. Nathan left town soon after, living a life on the road, the hole in his heart where Amanda once was, still empty. He travels in hopes of finding something to believe in again.

Other: His Spirit Strings can't work on powered peoples

Name: Mike Blackwood

Appearance: Mike is 5'8", thin, and pale. He has mid-long brown hair that looks like it hadn't been brushed or combed in months and wears a blue track suit with a white strip going down either side of the seams and covered in small holes.

Powers: One of Newton's laws dictate that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, Mike's powers take that one step further. He has what's been dubbed the voodoo doll effect, when he experiences pain everyone in his general area, or just one person, feel it too and it has a nasty habit of switching between the two. He often will injure himself on purpose and oddly enough he never bleeds out, or at all for that matter. It seems that his power is mental almost like a psychic so it's safe to assume that he is either actively or subconsciously creating "invisible" blood vessels to keep from killing himself.

Bio: Mike had never really been right in the head, he was fully enveloped in nihilistic delusions his whole life, no one and nothing around him mattered or existed he didn't even exist so what was the point of anything? He never made it past first grade for the short time he was in school since he was pulled out and sent to a psych ward. Doctors tried every treatment they could think of but nothing brought Mike any where near their definition of normal, so they settled with putting him in a padded room so he couldn't hurt anyone including himself. Then the day came when his powers where discovered, he had managed to pull off some of the padding and some how got one of the nails loose, a nurse came in to give him his lunch right about the time he was driving the nail into his leg and she felt it. The doctors where baffled as to why this phenomenon was happening or how it worked or anything about it, but due to laws they couldn't perform any tests and had to put Mike back in his padded room but this time with a straight jacket. When all hell broke loose in the city the ward got hit and Mike managed to get out and he started to find that his power's were, well fun something he could never remember experiencing. If nothing mattered or existed why couldn't have his fun with his power? Anyone who's seen him before is terrified of him and anyone who meets him usually ends up fleeing in absolute horror. Because of his mental state no one, not even himself, is sure whether he controls his power or if it controls him.

Name: Meredith Harbours

Appearance: 70 years of age, Meredith no longer cares how people view her, wearing clothes she finds comfortable & leaving her grey hair combed but free, coming down to her chin.. Her skin is wrinkled but not excessively so, splotched freckles cover her body roughly every half-inch, concentrating on her face. Her nose is slightly larger than the average with an outward kink halfway down, her lips are thin & her teeth straight but yellow. She is a mere five feet in height.

She almost always dons a cardigan over usually a simple long-sleeved buttoned-up shirt, her favourite a powerful red with big black round buttons. Her shoes are simple, black slip-ons with an ever-so-slight heel maybe a centimetre from the ground, if she is wearing her knee-length skirt she will wear stockings, unless she wears her trousers, all varying shades of grey.
She used to be far-sighted & wear round black-rimmed glasses, but since coming into her powers, she no longer has a need for them.

Powers: Her entire body is almost hundereds of times tougher than any normal healthy person's, she can survive a collapsing building or being hit by a passenger train at full speed with little damage. Her muscles, whilst undergoing no change in size, can lift several hundereds of tonnes & up into the thousands if her life truly depends on it, though it causes damage to her person. She weighs only nine kilograms & is exceedingly agile with strong motor skills & reflexes, she can run up to 400 km/h.
Her senses have been increased tenfold, she can see with clarity far further, her smell is akin to the level of a predatory cat, she can hear footsteps through crowded buildings & pick the source of them. She is in a sense, a magnified person, every physical attribute suited to survival increased, every physical`weakness reduced.

Biography: Born August 5th, 1939 to Christopher & Penelope Carthewrighte of London, until the age of five the only life Meredith knew was one of wartime, malnutrition & constant stress stunted her early growth & development. Her adolescent life, despite taking place in peacetime, suffered heavily with the death of her mother from "unkown causes" at the age of twelve. She was placed into the care of her father's sister while he worked, whom did not take kindly to Meredith seeing her as an utter burden, devoid of merit.
Four years of neglect passed until Meredith met Sander Harbours, a middle-class gentleman who made his wealth by way of organised crime in America, only in London to supervise the smuggling in of contraband literature.
He was smitten with Meredith & begged her to return to America with him, offering her a home & the promise of marriage. Meredith, eager to escape her oppressive aunt accepted with little hesitation. Meredith Carthewright became Mrs. Sander Harbours on January the 14th, 1958, & lived with her husband in Boston for another twenty-five years, mostly unaware of his increasingly criminal conducts. Sander Harbours was murdered on the first day of September, 1983 by the son of a man he shot dead several years ago for failure of payment for illicit drugs. Meredith had no children despite her best efforts, Sander had been highly infertile his whole life. Meredith continued to live on his life insurance & later her own pension, but took up work as a library receptionist for several years.
Four years after her retirement, Meredith collapsed on the street while walking to buy a coffee. She was taken to hospital where doctors could find no reason for her collapse, although they noted her brain was displaying an abnormally high level of activity. She was kept alive for a month & kept under study, until she awoke without warning.
Meredith was commited to a nursing home, where her powers came into effect almost immediately. At first, she broke several glasses, mugs, cutlery, tore clothes & eventually broke a table setting a vase down. Her weight dropped & the nursing home staff were considering sending her back to the hospital. On the day she was scheduled to be admitted, her room was found empty.
Friends reported having heard nothing of Meredith, although an old colleague from her library claims she sighted her in a foreign city.
My lieutenants are also in, and I'll announce them soon (I'm kinda pushed for time).

We shall begin asap!

Outcry
[hr][HEADING=3]Appearance[/HEADING]
Outcry's actual appearance has not changed a lot since she was last seen by other supers, though her body is now a mesh of it's usual flesh and bones, and some not-so-usual nanotechnological fibrous tissues and bones comprised of synthetic metal alloys replacing those destroyed before. These additions are nearly unnoticeable by the naked eye unless one were to be looking for them directly.

For a more in depth description of what Outcry looks like, we have a voice recording of her six months ago. Since then her hair has grown slightly, though that could be expected, and her muscles have degenerated to a small degree as a result of being kept in suspended animation for so long, but otherwise she remains the same.

Code:
//VoiceRecording: Microrecorder 132: Recording 72
"Describe myself? Well, I've been told my hair is a ravishing burnt auburn, but that was a new colleague and I bet he was hoping for the drink to be stronger than it really was. I'd describe it as dark auburn. I used to wear it down in locks but it was in the way so I cut it to the base of my neck.

I've always thought I was a bit short and skinny. My body's rather proportionate. None of that ridiculous top-heavy supermodel appearance that comic book superwomen always have. I'm real. From having to superhero all the time I've become a bit muscled as well.

My favourite attire? Well, can I confide in you for a moment? It's a costume. I even wear it under my regular clothes so I'm ready at any time for trouble. Being super has all sorts of problems with it. When the first trouble was over, the second one came headed for you straight away. But when I'm disguised none of that happens. It makes me happy, knowing that no matter how hectic things can be I can still go back to being 'normal'... Yes, I sometimes feel a bit stupid in my costume but it helps me find the middle ground between special and mundane.

When I'm trying to blend in I wear common clothes though. This stuff here. Green jacket, blue jeans, white shirt and trainers. Of course, my costume is hidden underneath.

And you should never ask a woman her age. Though she might just let you know that she's 29."

And no, before you ask, she doesn't have the costume any more. We assume that she got rid of it at some point during the crisis. Instead of that we gave her a set of prototype bionic armour, based upon Doctor Carter's battle exoskeleton. It's got shielding, increased mobility, flight, fusion-core, pulsating blue bits and bobs and enough armour plating to put a tank to shame. You name it, the armour's got it. More than enough to make up for any little mistakes nature might have made.
[hr][HEADING=3]Powers[/HEADING]
Reality warping, 'Biological Remeshing', Advanced Reflexes, Increased Strength, Power Mimicry and Visions, insofar as you can call that a power.

Reality Warping - Outcry can summon what appears to be anything that she can think of, regardless of whether it should exist or not, and can even manipulate her own body's molecular construct to some extents. This means that the things she can do are impossible to predict, save for her own affinity for the use of guns. Luckily we have wiped this from her personality, meaning that every attack should now be the result of a microsecond-long calculation deciding which attack would prove most effective, and not from her personal experience of their previous effectiveness in other unrelated problems.

Biological Remeshing - Outcry has suffered severe wounds, enough to kill ordinary people and most other supers. The Company, noting the need to keep their investment upon the 'new' super has added something to ensure her continued survival and obedience. The nanotechnological mesh will rapidly divide to fill in gaps, meaning that she will heal most wounds, but if the host purposefully lets a super escape at any point, or tries to break it's programming, the mesh shall automatically commit a 'mass suicide', effectively murdering it's host. She heals when she works for us, or she dies. This is to prevent a 3W-type defectation.

Advanced Reflexes and Increased Strength - Exactly what you expect. Outcry's new skeleton and tissues have a much higher strength than usual bone, so she can pick up a much larger weight before having to restrain herself and can withstand a greater amount of damage before breaking, and the majority of her missing nerves have been replaced with specific superconducting materials, speeding up reaction time by several fractions of a second. Over-the-top perhaps, but it could be the difference between life and another spike through the lung.

Power Mimicry - Outcry can copy any power that is used against her, just as any Carter-made robot can. She gains mastery over the power slowly, to prevent an overload of new powers.

Visions - Not so much a power, but Outcry can swap between different lenses in her eye. Thermal vision, IR vision, X-ray vision and good old Regular vision.

"I....win" Those were his last words? She gave him her entire life and that is how he left? She balled up her hands in rage, but could only beat weakly upon his chest as she felt her final moments were about to come as well. Her breaths came uneasily, each punctured lungful of air felt like it was going to be her last, and all she could was wait as her organs failed and her life slipped away into the dawn sun... The darkness slowly engulfed her and she was gone, lost forever in the inky blackness of death.

Or so she thought... It seemed that The Company had other plans for her.

Her eyes opened to spy unfamiliar surroundings as the world around her seemed to be emptying and opening up to reach out into a brand new one, the outside of the small pod she had been encased in ever since the operation to transplant the mesh into her had been performed. She stepped out, confused at her survival, scanning the dimly lit room to get a hint of where she was. She could hear a faint sound of air whooshing around, most probably an air purifier and fan at work. And she could see the white walls were mostly blank, save for a speaker and a mirror on the wall opposite her pod.

Outcry, stated a loud female voice over the speaker. The mirror's panel faded into transparency, revealing it to be a window, and 2 figures were visible. A woman with red hair and a bandaged face, dressed in a white lab coat, and a small robotic boy. Welcome to your home for the next 3 months, Outcry saw the woman's lips move, but the sound approached her from the loudspeaker's direction, You have much to learn.

The woman leaned over to press a button, and then her lips began to move again. This time no sound came, she was speaking to the robot boy... When she stopped, he nodded and went away from the window. All this time Outcry was shouting to be heard, "Wait! No. You can't just leave me in here! Let me learn! I'll learn, please!"

Outcry. You have an order. You must find and eliminate all supers, no exceptions. Do you understand?

"Yes, doctor. All supers will be eliminated. No exceptions will be made." Outcry reitterated monotonously into her earpiece as she walked along the wastes, the city she was going to was still so far off in the distance.

We are in for quite a fun game today. Remember to enjoy yourself. 1W sends his regards.

"Of course. Tell him to wait for my return. I will have him a present before I come back." The audio link went silent and Outcry smiled to herself. Yes, today would be a good day. Outcry would serve her creator, Doctor Carter, and that is all she had ever wanted.
[hr][HEADING=3]Notes[/HEADING]
Outcry remembers nothing of the last 29 years of her life. She is, for all intents and purposes, 4W. This means that she will follow the three laws set by Doctor Carter. She will not allow harm to come to a human. She will not allow herself to come to harm, unless doing so would conflict with the first law. She will follow any order set by a human, unless it conflicts with the other laws.

[hr][HEADING=3]Notes[/HEADING]

Strange since she started as the only hero in Overcharged. =D
It's like someone took a load of "Pure Awesome" and then mixed it with some "HOLY SHIT!" and some "FUCK ME!". I intrigued to see how all this is gonna come together. I'm already seeing a set piece involving Reggie and Outcry.

I really do feel under-powered now lol. But i like being the underdog :D everyone roots for yah lol
