Wow... that nurse is a *****. So much for that oath they take or whatever.

I mean... I've had arms snapped out of place and then snapped back in, but that... Thats just insane. Even I wouldnt do that (and I've done some crazy shit).

Maybe I missed it, but why wouldnt thje doctors stop. I mean, yeah, sometimes the medication doesnt take, but couldnt you just reschedule?
Nurses don't take the Hippocratic Oath. Only doctors do.
Really? Hunh. I have a girl who I'm friend with taking Nursing and she said she had to take something that was alot like the Hippocratic Oath.

She's right! A real man would've removed the kidney himself with a pocket knife, washed it out while he chewed on live rattle snakes, then put it back, and burned the wound closed!
A knife?! A man use a plastic spoon. A real man use a live bear!

It's pretty crazy she abused her powwers that way. But still before we had proper anaesthetic people routinely had thyroid and other surgery without sedation. Of course I'd never want to go through that.

I don't know the specifics, but I do know that the Hippocratic Oath is only taken by doctors. I haven't looked into the nuts and bolts of a nurse's training, so my knowledge there is rather limited. For all I know, they could take something like it.

Being someone who has woken up during the middle of a few different surgeries, and have had quite a few "out-patient" procedures where the anesthesia didn't take properly (but left me in a relatively shtoopified state) . . . I can fully understand what the guy musta gone through . . .

. . . and yeah, doctors do sometimes make the decision to continue with a procedure. I once had oral surgery where 4 molars were being removed, and was put under (thanks to how I tend to brush off local anesthetic) and I woke up during the procedure, I remember being in hellatious pain, then blacking out again. The surgeon approached me in recovery afterwards, and apologized for it, but stated they had already given me enough anesthetic to sedate 10 grown men, and any further medicine was out of the question.

True, but I was trying to soften it down a bit for the more squirmy that faint at the thought of using porcupines as beard combs, and ground sasquatch hearts as toothpaste. Damn sissy's can't even take a lil 6 inch needle to the kidneys w/o crying!

Its partially his own fault if he still went ahead into surgery.
He still got a small dose, and you have to keep in mind that Fentanyl is much stronger than morphine. He said he remembered someone holding him down, so he probably has a few blanks here and there between falling in and out of consciousness, but overall remembers most of the procedure because of the pain. There was no way he could have declined the procedure in time unless he refused prior to injection. The nurse probably told him he was shit out of luck after administering a partial dose.

Failure to treat pain and administer proper dosage of analgesics would be more than enough to have Ms. Casareto's licensed suspended.Judging from the fact that she resigned than rather go through a drug test, she's a pusher stealing meds from the hospital who would rather step down than get caught and arrested.

The hospital could be sued as well for improper treatment of pain and staff incompetence.

Hell, if that was me I'd get a good lawyer and go after them for cruel and unusual punishment and false imprisonment, then sue them for every penny they have for the pain and suffering...

If you have have surgery that involves cutting something,or putting something inside you you should get sedated, and no one wants to be awake when they do the surgery on you

So, I would find a good lawyer, sue the living shit out of every person I could and then go and shove a rake up that nurses ass after she got out of the prison sentence she rightly deserves

We still haven't been told if he was told before or after. I said this in another one of my posts.

AND ANYONE ELSE WHO WANTS TO ARGUE. I'M BRITISH, ITS NEARLY 5 IN THE MORNING. I'M SLEEPING, DO NOT EXPECT A RESPONSE FOR ABOUT 10 HOURS, WHERE YOU WILL PROBABLY BE ASLEEP ALSO

Bright side? If the dude grits his teeth through THAT, he gets Chuck Norris to call him a badass.

On the other hand, that nurse needs to be subjected to the same pain she put that guy through. Let the punishment fit the crime.

Poor bastard.
I've heard the worst thing is becoming partially conscious during general anesthesia. U feel the pain but can't move or communicate in any way. The doctors just think you're asleep and keep going.
Very very very rare, but it gives people psychoses.
When I was sixteen I had to have major surgery on my jaw, and a few months before the procedure I saw a TV special about exactly what you described. That was what I was most afraid of, not the actual surgery--which involved them unhinging my jaw and filing down my jawbone--but waking up during it.

But yeah this woman should definitely go to jail. Also, I feel like when your patient is screaming and writhing in pain, and one of your nurses is high off her tits telling said patient to "go to your beach . . . go to your happy place" that's a clue to the doctors that maaaaaybe something is wrong.
