well i forgot to post mine so here it is:

Hot Fuzz...i watched it on TV just to pass the time thinking it'd be some unfunny comedy junk that's around these days, and walked out of my lounge room thinking 'I MUST HAVE THIS' (i've watched it 16 times since)
If you liked that movie watch Shaun of the Dead. It's by the same creators of Hot Fuzz. It's hilarious. :D
They are going to make another movie similar to Shaun of the Dead and Hot fuzz but I have no idea when they are making it. From what my friend told me they are going to call it the Cornetto series because in both movies the secondary character is always eating a different kind of ice cream. Cool avatar. :)
Yep. Shaun of the dead: Strawberry - Blood 'n Guts.
Hot Fuzz: Classic. The Wrapper is blue, represents the Police.
The World's end: Mint. No idea what the movie's about, it's not released until 2010.

OT: Tropic Thunder, in a kind of "so crazy it's funny" way.

Wanted. It looks absolutely retarded in the trailer(s). Fortunately, I hadn't associated the trailer footage with the name.

I gonna go with Hostage. The bad guy called Mars, i think, is just undeniably bat-shit insane...

Went into BASEketball expecting it to be just another juvenile "hurdey-hur" movie. While there was quite a bit of that, I was still quite entertained by it. Of course, being that it's made by and stars Trey Parker and Matt Stone, I should have expected it to be fairly well-done.

The Shawshank Redemption also caught me off-guard. Thought it would be all right, but not as good as everyone said. Walked out thinking it was the best Stephen King adaption I'd ever seen, and much better than The Godfather, which was beating it on IMDB at the time.

1408 was one I went into thinking it would be just a bunch of jump scares, typical modern horror movie. What I got was one hell of a psychological thriller that was incredibly well-cast and well made.

I expected nothing out of Watchmen, but it was really good.

Much deeper then I thought it would be.

Beerfest. For a direct to dvd affair which my culturally-oblivious Malaysian friend forced upon me, it was surprisingly watchable. The fact that it was unrelentingly self-mocking probably helped.

One of the characters dies and is replaced by his previously unmentioned twin brother who proceeds to have sex with his dead brother's girlfriend. During sex, the girlfriend mentions that he's even better than the original version of himself - that was the point where jumping the shark became shooting the moon.

Oh yeah, and D.E.B.S., the biggest clusterfuck of poor acting, hilarious script, and outmoded production approach ever. Bonus stunt-casting helped too. Pretty much unwatchable, except for the good bits.

Dark City.
Just saw it recently and it was awesome. Think Matrix meets Enemy of the State meets Jacob's Ladder meets Hellraiser.
Yes, Dark City is great... I loved the setting. :D

Also: Tropic Thunder, I totally expected a stupid comedy full of pop culture references, and it delivered one of the funniest movies I've seen in a while.

If you haven't seen District 9 yet, do it.
When I walked in to there I thought it was gonna be a war movie but it turns out,
the movie gets a lot deeper and serious, and you wonder what's gonna happen next.
I'm definately going to buy the DVD when it comes out.

Love Actually. Normally I'm the chick who can't stand chick flicks or chick lit, but this movie really touched me. It was the right mix of cheese and humor, and some of the seasons made me laugh out loud. That's hard to do.

Basic. They advertised it as a war movie, so that's what I was expecting. Instead, I got a head-trippy whodunit, which is my favorite genre.

The Mummy. Again, the low expectations I had came from advertising. It was touted as a horror movie starring Brendon Fraser. The Fraser part was right, but the movie had more of an Indiana Jones feel to it than real horror. I was highly entertained, and it's one of those movies I can watch whenever it happens to come on the TV and still enjoy it.
