bless you, your parents don't know your sexuality yet? I bet your mother does!. Mum's are good at that sort of thing.
Nah, it's good. They both know. And yes it seemed my mom was cool about the whole thing. I just don't want them thinking I'm weird taking his name.

I had actually always hoped that I'd be able to take my wife's name (if I ever get so lucky as to find a girl who wants to marry me) when we get married. Part of me likes the sort of progressive reversal, where instead of a traditionally patriarchal name taking, things get mixed up a bit. And part of me doesn't want my kids to have to listen to all the stupid enuindic jokes because their last name is "Johnson". Really though, I just don't feel any attachment to my last name, it's just a name, I don't suspect I'll miss it much.
maybe you could take her surname and your surname and mix things up, to make a totally original name? would that not be cool as cucumbers?

Technically, you have two surnames if you get married to a man and your a woman. You have your old one and new one. It is just that people like to call your by your new surname. I am not sure how this works if its gay marriage. I guess they pick.

Taking your husband's name is dead simple -- in fact, in some states, it happens automatically when you get married. Whether or not you choose to use that name -- on your checks, bank account, etc. -- is up to you, but legally, your last name is his.

Now, getting your original name back, should you ever choose to, that is where the hassle begins. You'd think it would be the other way around, really.
So have you been married and got divorced Susan?, I'm only asking since you say like getting your old name back is a fucking *****, not because you know...

ok I'm asking cos you have a lovely voice, sweet sweet voice.
Yep, sure have. Getting married is far easier than getting divorced, too -- again, you'd think it would be the other way around.

I hate my last name, it's the only thing that links me to my dad.
I don't want to get married though
Soooo
:?
so get married to me and we will change our names up and shit, or failing that you could fake your own death and destroy the lives of the ones closest to you and make up whatever you like ( I recomend a canoe on some english river)

Or you could....

ok enough of my great plans, they are too awesome and people will follow the above already.

If she wants to, I would be happy to share.
If she wants hers, that's fine too.
If she wants to combine them, then she can go knock herself out.

I really don't give a crap my last name is strange anyway it's a croation word for spark (you get a cookie if you can guess it). If somehow miraculously I get married I really don't care if she takes my name.

good point, if I started dating a girl whose last name was "Frulong Keeper of the DoomMachine" I'd totally want her surname when we got married.

I'd prefer her to take my name, because it's extremely uncommon (Only 2 occurences in the phone book, and the other is my dad).

I actually knew a girl whose parents did just that. Although in their case it's because they couldn't agree on which name to take. Poor girl's last name was "Sweeney-Demezes". I don't think a surname combination is something I'd want to do though. With my luck, I'd end up marrying a girl whose last name was "Small," and I think we can all see where that joke is going. Again, best to just omit the "Johnson" surname, and take my wife's.

Oh screw you. No I'm not the "woman". You'd be shocked to think I'm into guys at all if you met me IRL. We just thought it would be cool to show undying devotion to one person in as many ways as possible. I decided to change my name on top of everything else.

So that means I win!!!! HAHAHAHA!

Hey, how should I know? No offense, but your username and avatar don't scream out "MAN!" to me. Coupled with the fact you would change your name... People come to conclusions you know.

I hope I didn't offend you.

Wrong film, but I'll give you points for knowledge of previous avatars.
