I'm sorry but this is simply hilarious. not only is it a new hat, it's an exclusive one that they made just for this purpose, that any class can use.

And I'm sure there will be plenty of complaints about how the system sucked even though they put the milestones back and how hats are too rare even though that's the point, but whatever. I got my free hat, I got all my stuff. I have nothing to complain about.

Now if there was only a way for Valve to collectively curbstomp the L4D2 boycott group as hilariously...

Well I idled the shit out of the system in the first week, but I still got a hat.

It seems I win, again...

Well, Valve fucked up, go look at the Steam Forums for Team Fortress 2, people who never idled lost weapons.

I idled but then they take away 2 useless/random weapons. Axtinguisher/razorback.
It might have something to do with the fact that I got a new computer and did a total reinstall, thus deleting my server history.

Still, by looking at the forums, either everyone is lying, or Valve really screwed up this time.

The idler is actually a seperate program, it's not an idle server. The idea of it is that you run it while you're not playing TF2, it logs you into a fake server as a spectator. Completely different from the idea of an actual in game server where you just leave your character to sit in one place.

Just checked my backpack, my Bonk and my hat are gone, but strangely they've taken an Ubersaw as well. Medic is my main class, and I can't unlock it again through achievements because I already have.

:(

Ah, well that explains the fact that I still have everything since I didn't use a program but only idled on the the servers.

Also, you have my condolences for your losses.

People complaining that random drop isn't fair doesn't know the meaning of fair. Since its random it doesn't discriminate for skill (like how you'd want it) or time invested.

I have one hat and I got it when they were new. So I pretended to not know what a hat was and pretended to delete it. This enraged everyone then I went and wore it saying I had 2 more XD

Valves gotta do what Valves gotta do. If they don't want people to use this then they have every right to do so seeing as they made the game. Not only did they make the game, they've privileged us with continuous updates to keep the game experience fresh and fun. So I say, if it's what they wanna do, it's fine by me.

Yeah, it's kinda... Valve's game? They do what they want with it, yeah...
Jesus, it's a hat for fucking God sakes. I can see if they had a new weapon from a new Update, which is extremely rare, more than the hats, yeah, complain. But when IT'S A FUCKING HAT THAT DOESN'T IMPROVE GAMEPLAY, your starting to make yourself look like someone who complains about the air being "stale". It's fucking air! Be happy your not forced to inhale fumes from an exhaust pipe twenty-four-seven.
I've played this game for quite some time now and some guy who's only played it for a little but got lucky has the bragging rights because of a hat? I don't like that.

Hats are hardly bragging rights. Your all being childish when you complain about not having something you'll never see, since it's a First-Person Shooter, and it doesn't add anything, besides a silly little hat :p
Yeah? It's hard to be objective when Valve pushes something in your face, completely useless it may be, and then informs you it's a lottery prize.

Besides, you actually can appreciate the hats. Gives you a bit of personality and something to enhance your taunts (there's a taunt button, with a little animation).

ok before i post just note one thing

<--------avid TF2 fan

okay lets get started. I honestly thought that the idle program was cheap and stupid. It was a way to, really, get the hats. I say this because it is really pretty easy to access the other achievement items with casual playing. The hats do nothing to add to the game, so why would people be pissed about Valve eliminating a program that helps get these accessories.

I would love a hat. But here's the thing; hats don't do anything but look cool. It's not like with the weapons that actually changed game play. The hats are just a nice little treat you may or may not get. Not having one is not a big deal.

Besides, if hats were easy to get then they would not be so special.

Yeah apparently that's a problem. Luckily for me all my unlocks are still safe inside my backpack. Plus I got a shiny hat for not cheating.
