How dare I cheat, bad me! You have to accept that right now, Valve has defined idling as cheating. I used the idler in the past, sure, but back then it was, as you said, a convenience item, and a way to hopefully snag a hat. Now they've come out and specifically stated that idling is cheating, as it explots the random drop system, you are a cheater if you find other ways to do it. Now I'll have to just go to a server and delete the items manually when I wake up, how cheaty of me. Valve banned a convenience item, there is no cheating.
