I bought Orange Box for the xbox360 today.

Well there's your problem!

Buy it for the PC, there are tons of more maps and it's regularly updated.

Well, there are many reasons you don't love it. Could be the community, it's performance on your computer, or more then likely, you just don't like it. There's no such thing as a universally loved game, and no game is for everyone. I enjoy Team Fortress 2 when it decides to run well on my computer and the community feels like being nice, but it's far from "TEH BEZT GAEM EVAR".

That title is reserved for Barbie Horse Adventures 2004

But, you could try some of Valve's other games, Left 4 Dead I strongly recommend if you have 3 likeminded friends and like co-op.

Left 4 Dead is good fun, no doubt. It's not that I dislike TF2 I just feel that I must be missing something. PC runs it, people seem nice enough and it's an adequate game, just...why is it so highly spoken of? For what it's worth, I have similar felings towards HL2, though people tend to assume I'm trolling when I say it

Also, don't hide your love of the Barbie games, embrace and cherish it!

I bought Orange Box for the xbox360 today. Actually, I initially bought it on release day so I could play Portal... so I technically re-bought it. Back then there was barely a person playing Team Fortress 2 so I gave it a miss. However, having heard numerous endorsements of the game, and assuming that the amount of people playing might have picked up, I bought another copy.

What. A load. Of balls. I've been trying to play for the last few hours, but have now thrown in the towel - it's rubbish. It's like the original, TFC, but slow, with a total of about 4 maps - only one of which supports CTF- , and whining American children requiring mass-muting at the beginning of every game.

Am I doing it wrong? Have I missed something? Or is this genuinely a terrible game? I realise that the PC version has more support from Valve... but can the 360 version be so different? I'm not sure what my enquiry is with this post... but someone please explain - I'm feeling somewhat bewildered and perplexed!!

just get the PC version it has less 5yo and is just better

It's not just Valve's better support for the PC. But all the mods you can get for the PC version probably make a difference too. That's what makes L4D so much better on PC in my opinion aside from the controls. XD

Team Fortress 2 is at its best when everyone in the game is either A: Completely terrible, or B: No one knows each other.

When one (or both) of these conditions are present, the game is endlessly fun and enjoyable. However, when neither (or Batman forbid, the oppposite of both are true) the game easily becomes one of the most fustrating and unenjoyable shooters on the market.

Well there's your problem. The Xbox version has none of the good parts of the PC version. None of the weapons, maps, or good community(at least on the servers i visit)

be prepared for about 200 people saying you should try the pc version. thats the one i bought and i generally don't meet anyone like you described. and the modding community makes the map total more like 100 then 4

Ah 360? The console versions of TF2 don't compare the pc version, mainly because it has updates and the steam community is better than XBL's. Period.
