One day, technology will be made. Hoverboards? Could do it. Regeneration? Eh, maybe. Invisibility? Psst, hell yeah. Virtual Reality? HA! Are you kidding me? You can buy one now, and that's just the first!
What technology needs to be made soon and quickly?
Hoverboards.
It is the only way I will represent Ireland in the Olympics.
Cool. I now know the definite existence, including usernames, of three Irish Escapists, including myself. The other's Furburt, due to his uncanny ability to always get first post.
Also, hoverboards would be so cool. I can see problems with controlling them though, because even without the problems of controlling acceleration and brakes, you still have the possibility of stepping onto your board, pressing the button that makes it float up into the air with your foot, floating, wobbling a bit, and falling off. Unless they have the thrusters/hoverthingies spread in the four corners of the board. Well, the top left, top right, bottom left, and bottom right anyway, since hoverboards could come in loads of designs and shapes. Also, in a world full of people with the mass-production, identikit variety of hoverboard that will no doubt be formed, having your own custom-shaped modded board would make you the new awesome king.

I want to explore the galaxy NAAAAAAO!
EDIT: Ninja'd by poster above. Oh well.
Kollega, you and me both.
Oh, and they kinda already discovered how to do interstellar drives, but there was something about destroying whatever planet or even system you took off from. How about we turn Earth into this huge spaceship? Then we could only destroy all our cool new alien friends... Ah. Call me crazy, but I can still see drawbacks.

I googled lightsaber technology once, only to stumble on a topic on some kind of forum for science people, and finding that one member of the forum had made a kind of light dagger, which was smaller and involved glass reflecting heat or some shit, which I can see drawbacks of in a lightsaber duel. Imagine the embarassment of your lightsaber shattering mid-battle.
Eh, it's experimental technology. Someone'll find a way to do it.
