And yes, the Sex Ed. system needs help. People will fuck, they will fuck a lot and telling them to not do it and ending it there just is a waste of money.
Agreed. My sex ed in school consisted of anatomy (good, but falls more under health science), a list of std's and basic info about them (can you say scare tactics?), baby expenses (also scare tactics, but true), and most of it was a bunch of crap about family and interpersonal relationships that the schools seem to think is actually a good idea to teach in a total institution (seriously, schools need to stop it with the social molding, it's not helpful). There was very little about sex itself.
You were lucky, we had a crusty old science teacher blather on about chromosones and hormones for about 20 minutes and that was it. I learnt more about sex from the stoned sixth formers under the stairs then the education system ever taught me. Ah good times.

Actually, they think he might not be the father...
Yeah theres 3 or 4 saying it could be theirs. funny stuff.
The funny thing was reading in the news that the judge called the teen mum a "slut" because she had sex with like 20 guys when she's so young. It's hilarious. Talk about being humiliated for life.

Teenage pregnancies are awesome. I support them 100%

The younger the better I say. If we can get them going at like age 5, that would be great.

well, first topic here, thought it'd be a good one
Here in the UK, we (as a country) supposedly have one of the highest teenage pregnancy and abortion rates in the world- compared to the other "More Economically Developed Countries"
Here is such an example of this taken to the extreme:

13 years old, and a father...
I'm not alone in thinking something is seriously ****ed up with that am I?
I'm only 17, and I already do not like the thought of basically having to pay for that kid to go through the educational system- which I will be doing in about 6 years when I can start earning my own income.
So, discussions on this topic?
I'm curious to see what the view is from other parts of ye world
Didn't this story come up in the news room and it turned out he wasn't the dad and that the dad was actually 15?

Anyway, teenage pregnancies I don't really think of as a good idea. They usually mean you can't go to school as you need to find money for the kid and due to your qualifications you would struggle to find work. Also kids cost a fortune, to the point where before me and my sisters were born, my parents were tied between having kids and getting a new car.

I hear two different reasons for the high rate of teenage pregnancies.
One is over-randy teenage boys not wearing condoms and sleeping with every girl they see.
The other is teenage girls desperate to be loved and accepted and not caring about contraception.

I also heard that teenage mothers get benefits and a council home and apparently that is what some aspire to...

I think the major problem is the first one, because it can be beaten (though I doubt in the way we are doing currently). The second one I'm not sure what to do though I'm sure Gordon Brown 'knows how'. So essentially it is a problem that can be reduced but never beaten.
