Basically all am sayin is that in general this happens all the time, for the same reason, but noone blinks when it happens to livestock, yet everyone goes nuts when it happens to something cute. Am I the only person who thinks there might be a flaw in logic here?

There is a difference between napalming an animal and killing it with a bolt gun, but I do agree with you somewhat.

Basically people don't care/care less about animals or people they don't know. Its like when I see a train crash on TV, I can't really bring myself to care (I'm sure most people don't if they're honest) because I don't know any of the people that just died.

Aha I can actually answer why people react more when a cute animal gets abused! It's kind of a defense mechanism, evolution has done it like this that children are cute so the parents will want to keep it and nurture it. This is in the animal kingdom too! And many people feel this way about cats and dogs since they often have that "cuteness" factor which wakes our protector instincts and thereby we want revenge since it's almost like they would have set your own child on fire for some people, like me....

The crazy stuff that make you lose your faith in humanity are just symptoms of a disease.

Its the effect of a cause that's clearly in this case education. Why do you believe they want attention so bad? why do you believe they're inclined to hurt an innocent life?

It is most likely what they have seen, been taught indirectly by their unwitting parents.

So before you start hammering away at the "next generation" start looking at the one that raised it!



Still not convinced? Go stay in England for a while and check out what the "leave the kids alone" policy is making out of them. If you see a youth with a balanced life, behaving with common sense and respect its because his parents took care of that, not because he didn't get "the crazys".

And let's not forget the wonderful legacy of polution and poverty the past generation is leaving us all around the globe.

Considering all that its surprising youngsters take it out on cats and not going for the source.

I think they are equally important.
A life is a life, plain and simple.
Be it the life of me, or a dog, or a cat, or a pig, or a cow, etc. etc.
Taking somethings life away for "fun" is a horrible thing.

This has always been happening. This generation my ass! When i was younger i saw kids tying a dog down then they proceeded to attach fireworks to it. The dog died from loss of blood. I saw the thing lose its two back legs.

Agreed whole-heartedly here. To me, animal abuse is just as abbhorent as human abuse, and those responsible should be punished for it. (But that's just me)

And, for the record, I lost my faith in humanity long before this event. This is just another sign of what humans are capable of, and why I don't trust them... even if it is only a few people. (I know I shouldn't be so cynical, but... I don't have much faith in humans in general, thanks to stuff like this.)
