Maybe I am a bit projecting and using up the last little stubborn remains of hope, but I took that survey and I'd like to think its amazingly few questions (without the possiblity of entering a personal fuuuuuuumessage) let me communicate this:
I played the 1990's Duke, and I liked it.
I played the undying new Duke that, alas, should have remained vaporware... and I didn't like it.
So, my fistful of clicks should get this message across: Duke Nukem 2011: Didn't happen. Still waiting. The Duke Nukem "Forever" (More like Duke Nukem Nevermore) we got was a lousy joke. Oh, and the (repeated) questions concerning Duke's humour - hell, it's Duke, I expect him to be sexist, obnoxious and otherwise unpalatable. That's part of what Duke was, is and always shall be. In real life, I would not accept a single one of those utterings without invoking some lawyer or a kick to the nether regions. But that's part of Duke Nukem. The only part they somehow recreated properly in some isolated spots. The technical issues and the modern "generic fps shooter starting here and ending there, please use the path our brilliant minds have prepared for you, thank you" approach just doesn't do Duke Nukem justice. Sure, everything gets turned into a linear FPS with boatloads of story and achievements these days, but this one was already an FPS a decade ago to begin with. Amazing how they could mess it up so badly. A shame, really.
