A lot of music lovers on this site and I thought this would be a interesting way asking what your favourite band is. So just say who favourite band is and give an interesting fact about them.

I'll go first, Dream theater did a song for god of war three.

Well I've got a couple but for discussion sake I will choose the Aquabats.

I really like them because not only is their music fun and catchy, but they take on a Super Hero persona and play it out quite well. They co created the show Yo Gabba Gabba, and are just silly overall. They put on a great performance on stage as well.

That okay?

Weeel I don't have a favourite band as such but..

Pendulum play their music (drum and bass style), using 4 stripped down computers serving out their effects as they play. Apparently none of them have crashed during a gig yet.

They're not real.

The Gorillaz by the way, fictional band created by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett.

Well, my favourite musician Devin townsend did a pop punk parody album [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punky_Br%C3%BCster], really hard to find ambience albums, and he's done production for loads of bands, including Lamb of God and Soilwork.

That sounds interesting I've not heard of anyone doing that before but I bet that those computers will crash and probably in a spectacular fashion.

The Antlers were originally one man recording songs in his New York apartment.

Crystal Castles first single was created by accident, it was actually a mic check that got recorded without them knowing and posted on their Myspace. A record lable then heard it and signed them up. Hence why the song is called Alice Practice.

I rarely pick favorites, so I'll list off a fact or two about some of my top ones, see if anyone can guess them.

They got their name from a lake where a series of murders transpired.

(Easy) They kicked Dave Mustaine out for drinking too much.

They've gone through four vocalists, and are planning to release a new album with their second and my favorite) singer. Also, they teamed up with Public Enemy for a song.

See if you can guess any of them.

Joe Strummer (vocalist and guitarist of the Clash (R.I.P)), later on said he regretted he smashed his guitar to pieces as seen on the album: London calling.

Found this first one on TV Tropes, but it's the most amazing thing I've ever read about Pink Floyd - Shine On You Crazy Diamond is about Syd Barrett, I knew that. But the article pointed out something else - Shine On You Crazy Diamond. My mind was blown.

During the Live At Pompeii performance of One of These Days, Nick Mason, the drummer, pretty much lets a drumstick go flying, and still manages to keep the beat while he pulls another one out.

Apparently Douglas Adams came up with the album name for the Division Bell. By the way, in the Hitchhiker's Guide, you know that really loud band that's so loud that they can't actually play their own instruments live? That's so Pink Floyd.

And this [http://www.everwonder.com/david/wizardofoz/]. Now I'm going to sit in the corner and wonder how and why I know all this stuff.

I skipped the first sentence out which made the rest very confusing. I was like "I know Metallica kicked out Dave Mustaine, but I'm pretty sure there is no such thing as "lake metallica""

Ok, I don't really have a favourite so I'll just say a few facts I like...

Jonathan Richman of the Modern Lovers saw The Velvet Underground over 100 times

Calvin Johnson of Beat Happening used to jam with Kurt Cobain

Smashing Pumpkins say that the "smashing" part of their name is meant to be in the coloquial sense of the word as in "really good"

Serge Gainsbourg told Whitney Houston that he wanted to fuck her on live TV

My Bloody Valentine are known to drag the "holocaust section" of their song You Made Me Realise for up to 40 minutes long. The section consists of 1 chord and is played so loud that they hand out ear plugs at the start of gigs.

The drummer for REM, Bill Berry, suffered an aneurysm on stage in 1995 and wound up quitting the band in 1997.

The bad is now a three piece.

Yeah they have, Milton Keyns supporting the Prodigy they had a little technical difficulty before Showdown. MC did a great job keeping us entertained though while they sorted it out.

Interesting fact about DIOYY? (I don't have a favorite band, but these guys are one of them: They got their name by turning the TV on and naming it after the first thing that came up, which was 'The Office' (British one. You know, the good one?), and David Brent said "Does it offend you, yeah? My drinking?".

I was originally skeptical that this happened but laughed anyway, and forgot about it until I was watching the Office one day and the very phrase came up. No lies I was literally :O-ing at the screen.

Enter Shikari: ES's drummer is banned from entering (Or just can't get in, not sure) the United States of America, for reasons I can't remember, so for US gigs they have a replacement.

Chuck Schuldiner, the man behind Death, died in 2001 from pneumonia stemmed from his battle with brain cancer. He was know as one of the nicest and most real guys in the business and was nicknamed 'Evil Chuck' as a result. He was reportedly an excellent chef, and his cooking helped Gene Hoglan, legendary metal drummer, lose over a hundred pound of weight. He was someone who loved life and having fun, and while he enjoyed both alcohol and weed, he was strictly against hard drugs.

Oh, and he is my hero :D

the leadsinger of the Stone Roses, Ian Brown was in prison over christmas a few years ago for punching an air hostess
the band had split up a few years previously due to a massive fight between childhood best friends Ian Brown and John Squires and they hadn't talked for years
but whilst in prison Ian received a box of maltesers (suspiciously his favourite and what John had got him every year for christmas since he was 12) with an anonymous letter which read "I still love you" ...

Plus John's new band was called "the seahorses"
which is an anagram of "he hates roses"
