I rarely pick favorites, so I'll list off a fact or two about some of my top ones, see if anyone can guess them.

They got their name from a lake where a series of murders transpired.

(Easy) They kicked Dave Mustaine out for drinking too much.

They've gone through four vocalists, and are planning to release a new album with their second and my favorite) singer. Also, they teamed up with Public Enemy for a song.

See if you can guess any of them.
Children of Bodom (who are awesome)

Metallica (duh)

I dunno.

Also, Dream Theater did a song for GoW 3? Awesome.

OT: Demon Hunter is a Christian Metal band and the singer (who can sing really well) usually has a killer beard. Is that interesting enough?
Last one is Anthrax. They'd be my favorite if they just had kept Belladonna on, he was much funnier than the others, and wrote more memorable songs. The value minded part of me likes that John Bush tended to write more per album, but he wasn't as good. Also, he had his own band, Armoured Saint, so he didn't need to go fucking about with Anthrax. All Belladonna got was a solo career, and he only made a couple albums, one of which is terrible.

Also, they seemed to have better riffs when Belladonna was around. I still don't know why they kicked him out...

Not my favourite band, but always fun to say. I have the same birthday as the bass player from Journey.

The Iron Maiden song "To Tame a Land" was about Dune. They wanted to give the song the same name but Frank Herbert (author of Dune) hated metal and Iron Maiden in particular, so he threatened to sue the band if they used the name.

The songs in The Wall, Darkside of the Moon, Wish You Were Here (and other albums) by Pink Floyd all run into each other (if you play the albums from start to finish). Also, if you play the ending of disk two before playing disk one, you'll notice both tracks are the same, and simply cut in half. This is the "last" lesson from the Wall, where if you don't learn from your past mistakes, then time will just keep repeating itself until you do.

My favorite band once used a giant mirror ball in a live performance. The ball was 16 feet in diameter. It would open up and inside was a 12 kilowatt Phoebus HMI lamp.

That, along some of the best music ever played sends chills down my spine every time i watch that show.

Pink Floyd, Live at the Earls Court in 94. I wish I could have been there.

You and me both bro (though I was only 2 at the time. Also It would be wicked if they heard you weren't able to make it, and in response they would say "boy, I Wish You Were Here" lol :)

Coheed and Cambria:

At the time, their new drummer(Chris Pennie from The Dillinger Escape Plan) wasn't legally allowed to play on their new album, "Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume Two: No World for Tomorrow". Taylor Hawkins from The Foo Fighters played the drums on that album in stead.

Most of Coheed and Cambrias songs don't use conventional time signatures.

Coheed and Cambria are two characters from lead singer Claudio Sanchez' fictional sci-fi universe "The Amory Wars"(it's also a comic and a graphic novel and a novel written by him), and the songs and albums follow the story of The Amory Wars.

The names Coheed and Cambria aren't used in any songs except for one: "Elf Tower New Mexico", a bonus track on their first album(The Second Stage Turbine Blade).Elf Tower New Mexico does not follow The Amory Wars story.(The only song to actually mention those two characters by name isn't part of the storyline.)

Not an interesting fact but an awesome quote:
When asked to give advice to young people about perusing a music career, Claudio Sanchez says:
"Listen to Iron Maiden."

Most of Coheed and Cambrias songs have no apparent time signature.

um, not a musical genius but a band might struggle if they had no time signature. The fact that there is not usually an overarching time signature is probably the only claim to being progressive that C+C have.

EDIT: I apologise if this looks like an attack on your fav band :) I like C+C but just found that line in your post to be a little grating to me :p

Don't worry about it :)

What I mean is that they have no conventional time signature. I'll make an edit. Early morning posts. My head isn't right until it gets a shower.

Anyway, yeah. Their songs aren't in 4/4 or 2/2 or anything. They don't use a conventional time signature and often switch signatures multiple times in the same song.

Claudios father in-law is a classical musician, and in an interview, Claudio was discussing how he has virtually no knowledge of musical theory, while his father in-law is pretty much an expert on it. His father in-law couldn't figure out the time signature in most of their songs.

Anyway, I put the wrong word. My mistake :)

Sum 41,before they actually formed the band, held up a convenience store with nothing but Super Soakers for half an hour. Their first album? Half-Hour of Power. It shows a member of the band in beachwear shooting a Super Soaker at the person holding the case.
