Germany - Social(!) democracy

Germany gives me 700? each month to go to university. I will have to pay half the amount back starting 6 years after I am done studying. Going to university costs ~350? per year (and includes using public transportation for free). And I don't get the money because I am extraordinarily talented, I get the money because my parents couldn't afford to pay for me.

<3 high taxes.

I for one, and a sizable chunk of the escapists, come from Australia.

1) I am proud of our environment. A land rich with varying ecosystems. Many of our flora and fauna are unique to our country alone and are quite famous. We have some of the world's deadliest Spiders and Snakes which is pretty damn cool. Our weather is all over the place and yet other than Bush Fires (and a nasty Flood atm!) we don't experience natural disasters like hurricanes, tidal waves, volcanoes, and Earthquakes! The land itself is a great place to explore and also a dangerous one!

2) I am proud of our contributions to Science and our inventions:

3) I am proud of our literacy and multiculturalism and various other statistics:

4) I am proud of the many Australian actors and actresses who litter Hollywood.

5) Even though people will often insult my nation for it's convict heritage, I am proud of most of the history in my country and people need to realize that the convicts were generations ago and have had no real significant impact on the society that has flourished today. Our cities have often been ranked as the most livable cities in the world along with those found in Canada, Austria, and Switzerland!:

Im also proud that everything in Australia is out to poison you..even the playapuses! (ok not everything but still)

I've never know anyone to really care about the whole convict heretige thing....though there is another little part of our history thats rather unplesant, most poeople would like to ignore and is still kind of on-going in a way, lets hope things get better

Oh yeah. But every country has had something similar. Look at USA and it's native Americans.

Norway.
Very rich cultural history.
Good healthcare, better then Canada because we pay less in taxes.
Tonn of money, and few people to spend it on. approxemetly 5 million inhibitants.
One of the best military, because we are so few in the army that they have to be super effective!
Low on crime, police do not carry weapon.
Enviroment and nature is beautyful, we got the northern light and midnight sun.
Rich on nasjonalistic food.
Everywhere else we go everything is cheap.

National health care, has it's flaws, but hey, what doesn't?
We gave the world Nathan Fillion (he comes from the same city as me actually)
We have a decently non corrupt government... even if they can be pretty useless.
Oh, and we have most of the world's fresh water... and a TON of oil.


... And Quebec makes good cheese and maple syrup.

Sad but true.Our country has been driven to it's knees by greedy/corrupt/inept politicians,bankers and businessmen to the extent that we had to receive a massive bailout from the IMF that we're going to be paying back for generations to come(if we ever manage to pay it back that is)

If we're talking about shit that happened in the past though...hmmm...well we gave the world the most iconic and enduring horror character of all time

Irn Bru, our History, never been conquered(goes along with history I guess), our contribution to Science-http://www.magicdragon.com/Wallace/thingscot.html there is some, although I know that some are debatable such as the telephone.
