Never assume rationality when dealing with the internet, especially Facebook. The Escapist is was one of those rare little Bubbles of maturity and niceness that even reddit fails to emulate, when we go out blinking into the sun and gaze across the landscapes of teh tinter webs, we need to realise that people will always shoot the messenger who makes them feel bad, or be racist.
Don't forget homophobic!

It's the hot new bigotry on the market nowadays.

Oh, dead baby jokes. I know so many of you. Me and my friends went through a huge dead baby joke phase in high school.

What's worse than 10 dead babies in a garbage can?
1 dead baby in 10 garbage cans!
What's the difference between a Ferrari and 100 dead babies?
I don't have a Ferrari in my garage.

OT: I just love the logic of them telling someone that death is a bad thing and anyone who laughs at a joke about it should be killed. Genius!

Edit: Oh! I got another one.

What's the difference between a sandwich and a dead baby?
I don't fuck the sandwich before I eat it.

People are stupid. The internet gives stupid people an international voice and the ability to communicate their stupidity with other stupid people. Stupidity becomes exponential.

And to the dead baby joke guys; really? You're not funny.

So on a page full of death threats, you made a comment not in line with the horde and in response were told to kill yourself --- and this was unexpected in some way?

Honestly, if there's a crowd of people calling for blood and you try to swoop in as Mr. Rational telling them they're overreacting, the result will *always* be that a portion of the group turns on you while the rest carry on as though uninterrupted.

If I was trolling and someone attempted to diffuse the situation I would probably fire a shot from the crowd to discourage further attempts.

IF YOU GET WHAT I'M SAYING HERE.

Goddamn it internet.

Maybe people are jealous of your vocabulary. I usually don't want to read a novel when I'm trying to send hate mail.

Pfft. Oh wow that's funny. What a great...No, wait, you're serious? Have you seen half the shit that gets posted on here? Repeatedly? Month after month after month? Until it becomes banned to talk about it in the general forum?

Now, afterwards, a guy told me in the comments that I should kill myself. So, what do you think? Am I in the wrong here, or what?
So I guy who got offended by someone making cancer comments, goes and makes a suicide comment? I believe that may be irony.

You should have just let those idiots get trollbaited. The way I see it is that if they're stupid and naive enough to become enraged by someone's (fictitious or otherwise) opinion, mainly and especially so when the person is intentionally trying to make people mad, they deserve it. I have respect for you trying to mediate and act as a peacemaker, but it's just not worth it on the internet.

Yeah, I saw that. Pretty much everyone on my friends is screaming about it. As much of an asshole as whoever made the page is, you have to give it to 'em, they're probably one of the most successful trolls you've ever seen.
And they posted the profile of a girl that annoys the hell out of me and told everyone to 'raid' her because she spammed their page. I have no idea what they were expecting to happen, though.

1 dead baby in 10 garbage cans!
I knew a guy in high school who was constantly saying those...

What's the difference between a dead baby and a watermelon?
One is red, juicy, and delicious, and the other is just a watermelon!

>_>

<_<

OT: I actually attended a seminar, led by trained behavior analysts, for dealing with angry people recently. The first thing they said? Never try to make an angry person not angry. It just makes them angrier. Just leave them to stew off their anger.

Playing a mediator on the internet? Bad idea, only do so if requested or bound by duty (if you're a mod or admin). Other than that, try to ignore obvious attention grabs.

And Facebook, seriously? That's cancer in and of itself.

Oh and on the subject of dead baby jokes...

How many babies does it take to cover the roof?
Well that depends on how thin the slices are.

While I agree with you I also think the page is harmless and the people who comment on it are stupid. Someone could come up to you and say every bad thing under the sun and the simple solution is to just not care. I could go and insult every person I know about everything and it wouldn't do any actual harm unless they were foolish enough to let it.
When it comes to actions is when it matters.

Aww, but the crazies are the whole reason I love taking the bus. No, seriously, half the time I'm in stitches by the time I get to work, it's an awesome way to kick the day off.

Why are you letting it get to you? These people would never act/think/say these things in reality and are just acting 'hard' on the Internet. If you met them in real life I imagine they'd be the awkward silent people who draw monsters in their spare time.

Never play peace-keeper on the Internet with random people. Just sit back and watch someone else try and fail.
