...why is he playing with a controller? Does this game need a controller to play? Why would it need a controller when you've got a perfectly fine keyboard and mouse? I'm not interested in something that makes me use inferior tools :/
What the hell is wrong with you???

They explain that in the video! That's the game developer you know!
I wasn't interested enough to watch the whole video. I saw some gameplay a while ago and it looked alright I guess, so I assumed it was the same. Playing anything with a controller is horrible though.

Hmm...

Although it would be fun to play against people with a controller while using the M&K yourself. Easy targets ftw.
You sir, have just succeeded in making a fool of yourself. Congratulations.

OT: This game looks truly interesting, I can't even say how many times I've wished I could just switch over to a controller and kick back on the couch. Sure it may not be great for the more intense parts of the game but in those slower more relaxed parts it would be absolutely brilliant. I'll be keeping an eye on this game and look for more gameplay vids closer to launch. Might just buy it for the sake of checking out since I know several people who will buy it just for having the choice to use a controller.
All in all looking like a brilliant game, looking forward to it.

FFXIV looked cool and beautiful. Played about 10 minutes, got fed up with the interface from 2001 when there was no Z axis in MMOs and you couldn't change graphics or resolution in-game.
Jumping in MMOs is purely cosmetic. It's not a platformer, it's not a puzzle game, it's meant to be an RPG. If you're not intended to go a certain direction because it was designed for you to take the long way around instead then the addition of a jump button isn't going to make the devs go "Ahhh you got us, you foiled our carefully planned assault course of death to get to your objective", they'll just make the ledge higher.

Looks like a MMO version of Kameo: EOP but with a deeper RPG-style character development system to me.

Interesting.

So for the wow clone thing... I can honestly see it having some wow clone aspects. Art style, GUI art style,(minus how your hotkeys are moved to a box in the corner as opposed to a line across the bottom.) general game play mechanic of Make zone, add roaming monsters that randomly path. kill monster for trash loot and exp and complete kill x monster to complete Y quest or for Z drop.

I could even go so far as the overall gameplay mechanic is somewhat cloney..

The only real differences that I see.. is the ability to map to a controller which I genuinely applaud. (DDO does it quite well, so I could see that as good) and the only real innovative hook I saw was the collision damage engine, which is really not as innovative as it might seem considering games like EQ have that to some effect where different spells and skills have differing ranges like line of sight, Aoe, PBR, etc.

As for graphics... Honestly not impressed. Its unreal 3 engine.. which was cutting edge like oh 2-4 years ago. It has the potential to look good, But I think that the art style sort of stands in the way of it.

The ONLY thing I can genuinely say looks like a major direct ripoff of wow is the world map looks alot like azeroth, only with the WoTL landmass connecting the two continents.

But Im not going to call it a wow clone, More accurately call it an MMO clone. The gameplay seems really standard fare. This seems like a type of game that is going to be viewed more like a refinement of the prior MMO generation standards, than a next generation MMO, which after games like DCUO and ToR launch, this will likely be buried.

Graphics look pretty nice, but it does look like a WoW clone. Sure, you can dodge, but other than that it looks the same.

Actually, hilariously enough, there is one or two bits in World of Warcraft that require the use of jumping! As far as i can remember they would be the Blackrock Depths and Wailing Caverns. Early on they require the player to jump across two to three platforms, or in WC it was just jump from one ledge to the next, to continue. I kid you not, the jump button actually had a function!

Looks like a blend between Aion and WoW. As for the whole "you're more involved in combat" mechanic, Age of Conan took a crack at that but that doesn't stop it from having a meagre, small subscription base. I think most MMO players really don't care about how 'involved' the combat or gameplay aspect is. In fact they're perfectly happy just clicking abilities and they pride themselves into getting into a solid rotation, occasionally deviating it to suit the new patches and gear they acquire.

I'm guessing the people who called this a WoW clone have either never played WoW, are trolling, or think that all MMoRPG's are WoW clones. This has an entirely different combat system, and it actually takes skill to dodge attacks, instead of it being a random event. I'm actually very interested in this, and I haven't looked twice at an MMoRPG in a long time (the last one was WoW, and I still love that).

I'm hoping this turns out good when they finally release it, because seeing an MMoRPG in a third person shooter format is awesome.
Actualy I've played god knows how many MMORPG's and I have found only 2 that suit me (Room for more) World of Warcraft, and Requiem: Mometo<(Spelling) Mori... and I am looking toward the upcomming Star Wars MMO... and Guild Wars 2... Didin't like GW 1 (It sucked...)... any way, yea, that kinda reminded me of World of Warcraft... oh, and Yes I have played WoW... 2 level 80's Cavala(Tarylon) Arthena(Khaz Mordan) look'em up.

Not being able to jump in games is like not being able to use iron sights in FPS games.

Also, the UI sucks and combat feels slow and... EXTREMELY boring.

Idiots who say this is a WoW clone are idiots... who say this is a WoW clone.

And this....is where you lost me. How can anyone not sound like an idiot when they say, "This game looks so awesome! I can not only grind for endless hours (in gameplay that looks like a cross between the worst MMO and third-person shooter I've ever seen) so I can level my character, but I can do it while lounging! I CAN'T WAIT!"

It may not be trying to copy World of Warcraft thematically, but other than that, I'm comfortable calling it a WoW clone. It's a mindless, over-bloated grind-fest with uninspired design and little to no narrative. Show me evidence to the contrary, seeing as the video did nothing of the sort, and maybe I'll change my mindset. 'Till then....not interested.

Just gonna ask, what exactly makes this look like WoW to you, besides the fact that it has an interface, and leveling system, what makes this seem like Wow?

I've played WoW for a few years off and on. I have a level 80 Human Death Knight on Uldum named Vilcus (I use that name for pretty much everything), but my account is inactive so he won't show up in the armory. However you can find him here:
It's a long list, but he's in there.

I'm not saying you're wrong (an opinion can't be wrong), but what I am saying is that this doesn't look like WoW to me... so please, I'm genuinely interested in what makes this game look like WoW (in any way shape or form) to you.

Yes. It's the new 'thing' - Being able to dodge attacks. Guildwars 2 has implemented it as well. Looks sweet, but not my interest.

OT:
I'm completely biased towards GW2. I'm sorry, but this just wouldn't cut it for me. And no, it's not a clone of the dreaded you-know-what.

Um which part of that is supposed to not be a WoW clone? Not that there's anything wrong with being one and I hate the expression as a whole, but the statement seems pretty ridiculous looking at the video.
