Any phrases or words that annoying 12-year-olds shriek at eachother even though their mics are working and they're sitting two spots apart in the game centre playing Halo while I'M trying to play something that requires actual intelligence and concentration....That includes any profanity, the word 'gypsy' for some reason (which I find rather insulting), '******', 'gay-(various other word here)', 'OWNED' at the top of their lungs...I'm sure there's more but I can't think of anything else right now.

'hardcore', 'casual', and 'shovelware' come to mind. Three terms quite grounded in the console wars.

Console Wars...someone needs to make a mock mvoie about that with an opening scrawl in space. Wonder if its been done already...

I guess this is sort of more specific, but I hate it when people in WoW call potions 'pots'. I hate it even more when they actually say it instead of just typing it as an abbreviation. Also, I hate many of the things already posted in this topic.

Noobtube. Its a legitimate weapon -GET OVER IT- don't think that if you complain enough they will change the game for you.

I'm suprised nobody's mentioned 'twink'
for those of you who have never played an MMO (you're the lucky ones) it's used as a term to describe characters that are only used for PvP...but in real life 'twink' means an underage homosexual...no clue where the two have any similarites.

I really, really, really hate the term "nub." Please, for the sake of all gamers, pronounce it correctly. IT'S NOOB. IT MEANS NEWBIE. I do understand that some people hold a grudge against any form of the word, but it's a legitimate term, simply shortened for those who find too much effort in moving their mouth to sound out two syllables.

But I will say that perhaps the greatest term I've heard is "Splazer" (Splay-zer). Shortened term for Spartan Laser from Halo 3. Just say it once and you'll see...

Actually, every reference to the term twink I come across in the MMOs is related to someone who spends a lot of money on a lower level alternate character to get them the best gear they can.

Harcore and casual for me.
I don't even know what those terms mean. If I play a game for fun I am a casual? I thought that's why video games existed in the first place.

Here here. I quickly grew wary of people harshing me when I used the auto shotgun on Rainbow Six Vegas 2. What was it... xm-(some number). It was a fantastic weapon which was a fair part of the game.

that's weird. Nobody ever referred to a 'twink' like that in WoW (yes im filled with shame for ever playing such trash) I don't know what it meant in other games, but thats what it meant in WoW

addiction, when it's used in a positive sense.
For Example:
"This game is awesome, it's totally addictive".

Camper...
One, esp. a sniper who remains in place picking people off.

For one, a sniper in reality, DOESN'T MOVE unless forced to by giving away of position.

Second, Spawn 'campers' and item 'campers', okay I understand that. It is bullshit when someone pulls that stunt, but if you're in the middle of a field away from weapons, spawn points, bases, the go for it.

Plus, camper is just an annoying as hell word.
