No, I said that people were doing that and that it has died down since then.

But you haven't shown ANY evidence, except for saying that they have.

I don't make a habit out of saving said threads, but I do recall a Yahtzee or Jim video having the facebook comment section hijacked by "[blank] is best pony" comments. Go look if your interested.

And that EN statement was about generalizations, which you are doing. Not every brony shoves ponies down other people's throats, and not every hater shoves their hate down people's throats. Also, let me give you a story about a hater:

Basically, I told a few of my close friends that I was a brony. They were perfectly fine with it. Except for one, and that was the one who I only really liked out of sympathy. What did he do? Every time we spoke from then on he mentioned how I liked ponies in a negative light, I never mentioned ponies at all. Yet because he hated the show and thought that bronies shove ponies down his throat he started to shove how he hated the show down my throat. He soon learnt that doing that does not a good friend make, so I kind of just ignored him. It's not the fact that he hated the show that I ditched him as a friend, it's the fact that EVERY time we spoke he mentioned me being a brony. Now I know why barely anybody liked him, because he makes everything worse when there's no need to. I've seen him with my other friends saying about how they are "newfags" because they don't go on 4chan all the time like him. Now pretty much all of the people in my friend group hates him. That's an example of why I really don't like people like you and him. Can you give an example of why you don't like ponies?

Great story except I'm nothing like him. I don't go around and bring up how much you like ponies every time I see your username.

My dislike for the show has nothing to do with my dislike for the memes. The previous actions of the fan base is why I don't like the memes. If the fanbase was never there, I wouldn't like the show but I would have never gone to hate the memes like I do now.

That would actually be the vast majority. Probably around 80% of those used today in one way or another came from 4chan.

I think the problems with memes is that no one understands how to use, or create (pro tip: you don't) and that's why they have gotten so annoying.

But I do hate Christians who think being gay is a sin, and are basically fundamentalists, but I don't hate all of them because of them. That's just an example, I'm not turning this into a religious argument. But really, if you hate a fanbase for what they've done in the past (and not the immediate past, from what you're talking about it seems like the spam that happened near when it first started) it's kind of silly really. I disagree, my reaction to MLP memes is perfectly valid given the spam I had to put up with. That said, nothing is lost if I don't like MLP memes.

A little experiment for everyone: as you go about, make a mental note when you see something that references or mimes Star Wars. I have done this. Depending on where you go, even offline, it could be a daily experience. It simply will not die, ever. Everyone that dresses as a storm trooper or Darth Vader makes it on the Internet. It's in fact so popular that in some parts of the web it is a part of Internet comedy itself, used as mass appeal to geek culture.
