So I was playing through Metro 2033, and having a lot of fun with it. But then I came to the amoeba part, the fucking amoeba part. That part was one of the most nightmarishly frustrating rooms I've ever seen in a game. It's really a shame too because the rest of the game was excellent and it really drags down the game to have a part this annoying and sloppy that close to the conclusion.

So, what are some parts you guys thought were terrible in otherwise great games?
Its really simple if you know how, see, you can shoot the spawn points, and if you run it backwards, you can kill them all before what's his face starts walking.

I don't really like when games totally switch up their formula. Like the vehicle sections in Gears, the racing sections in almost any game ever, and that one whack-a-mole part in Jak 2. I never beat that game, just because I can't hit the right button out of eight hundreds of times without making a mistake.
Also, Halo would have been much better with more Covenant and less Flood. However, I don't really remember hating the Flood too much in Halo 1. It was in Halo 2 when they really got to me.

The damnable server room in Mirror's Edge, and the truck ride to the boat.

The server room because of the fifty plus deaths you'll have every time, the truck ride because it goes on... and on... and on.

Sonic games in general: Annoying. water. sections. Seriously, more torture than they are worth. Water bubbles are hard to come across and you are sooo slow in water.

C&C 3: The mission where you have to escort the MCU and engineers. Escort missions are NOT meant for RTS games...>_>

Fable(yes I like Fable): Escort. Missions.

The Bioshock escort missions, awesome game, but then you have to drag around a little sister and save her butt.

I only did this once in Bioshock 2 before giving up on the game altogether cause i remembered how slow it is then realized I'd have to do it about 100 more times throughout the game, fuck that.
you dont have to if you put the little sister on your back and find a tunnel you can harvest/save her without following her around
alot of people dont realize its completly optional

Ymir forest in Tales of Symphonia comes to mind. The triforce collection quest in Zelda: Wind Waker was incredibly annoying as well.

Fucking Mandatory Asteroid Mini-Games (FUCKING PLURAL) in Dead Space! How bad was it, well... Dead Space is one of my all time favourite games, If it honed more influence from Metroid Prime, it would of easily have been the best game released that year... The Asteroid Mini-GameZZZZZZZZZZZZZ... were so bad, I returned the game because I realised there was no way I was going to pass it, what with THE INTERNET also failing at it.

....Which part was that again? I don't seem to remember anything terrible in ToS...

Also, including guns in Mirror's Edge. Let me get this straight-GUNS, not fighting. Things would have been so much better if they'd just cut the guns and streamlined the melee fights.

FFX - The Cloyster temple trials and the infamous laughing scene.

SA1 - Big the Cat. Who demanded fishing in a game about a fast speedy hedgehog?

SMG1&2 - Water levels.

RE4 - Playing as Ashley.

Ymir Forest is the forest right before the elven village of Hemidall. You have to run around the forest guiding a fruit through the forest by way of color coded lilypads (Or something to that effect.) If you screw up, the fruit gets eaten by fish in the water and you have to start all over again.

My least favorite part of the game.

Personally, I enjoyed Halo: Combat Evolved. I still regard The Library as one of the most horrid levels in history, though. Did this even seem like a good idea at the time?
Meh I never found the Library that bad. It was pretty damn annoying, but not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I would rate it 6/10 on my annoying scale. Sure as hell annoying, but not enough to really piss me off.

OT: A forced stealth section in games that normally do not have such a feature. Take for example Resistance 2. At some point in the early where you have to sneak past virtually invincible drones by squirming through their patrol pattern. There's no reason for this to be here other than killing the pacing. I want to be shooting things not sitting around in a hole waiting for something to walk by at the right time.

Record of Agarest War. awesome effin' game. there are "event" sections which either tell you what your enemies are doing, help you develop your relationship with one of the three hot babes from the current generation, or, and this is the terrible part, put you through multiple fights, ending with a fight with at least one super-powered boss and his buddies, but don't let you heal between the fights, only during the actual fights, and that takes away from Ellis's action points (or uses one of your healing items AND some of your current character's action points, making it much more efficient to have your prepubescent elf girl do all the medic work so you can use your healing items to forge skills/items in town instead). the bosses in this game have such high stats AND health gauges that it's easiest to take down his asswipe minions until you've built up your Special and have enough action points to spend your Special on your EX moves and use those to almost, but not quite, fill the overkill meter, leaving you to grit your teeth, wondering what kind of super-special-awesome prize you could've earned by kicking the bastard in his pubes with just a bit more force. sad thing is, i knew this game would become unforgiving at some point, but i'm not even a tenth of the way through the game, and i've been playing with the difficulty as low as it gets. the box says it's going to be eighty hours, and christ, that's got to be the understatement of the year. they must only be counting hours you actually save and not ones spent trying to kill Marquis Braham, a boss i've encountered three times already, only to have one of the Gridamas Soldiers use Evil Omen and whipe out half of your in-battle party members, or have the Orcs from his third encounter when he's gone off his rocker clusterfuck you so he can whipe you out using a combo move that normally requires three people, one for each part of the combo, due to the amount of AP it consumes. i am reffering to a fire move called Scarlet Poemy, where you set your enemy on fire, send him to the fucking moon, and knock him back down with a fire-elemented physical attack. he can use the move all by himself for some damn reason, and even Borgnine, the Demi-God tank of your party, can hardly stand when HE does it, but when you do it to him, he's still gonna have a good part of his health bar left. anyways, i've gotten off topic in my rant, so goodnight.

I'll list some from RPG's... why not?
- Knights of the Old Republic: Taris
So the first 3rd of the game? Fair enough.

How about all the bits of CoD World at War that weren't the Sniping Mission or Nazi Zombies. Ok thats not fair I enjoyed CoD:WaW, but I am putting down it's tank mission as the low point. Such a bad section of an otherwises pretty decent game.

Also, I LIKE the fade section. Yeah, how's that.
Okay, okay Taris wasn't completely horrible, but we can all agree it was way too long.
It wasn't too bad, but the main problem is if you actually level up at all then you get fewer Jedi levels (since the level cap is 20, and you can hit 9-10 in Taris). I actually got through it once without leveling my main char at all, though that was fucking rough. At least they figured it out for the second game that most people want to be a jedi when playing a game about jedi.

I'm gonna go with the complete lack of armor in Planescape: Torment. The Nameless One tended to take tons of damage due to the fact that he never learned how to duck and thinks scars are perfectly serviceable armor, so why would you need anything else?
Er, should point out I meant the fade section in DA:O that everyone is mentioning.

Yeah, Taris did take far to long to complete, espically considering the level cap in place. You know that had to cut content to get it down to the length it was? Imagine the original Taris.

I'd have to say the level "For Pete's Sake" in Earthworm Jim. First they have the gall to make me escort a retarded pink anthropomorphic dog across a crater-strewn hell, and then they ask me if I want to do the "advanced" course. I fucking hate that dog, try to bite me in half because you don't know how to jump ya daft bastard, I ought to immolate you for the common good of us all.
