Record of Agarest War. awesome effin' game. there are "event" sections which either tell you what your enemies are doing, help you develop your relationship with one of the three hot babes from the current generation, or, and this is the terrible part, put you through multiple fights, ending with a fight with at least one super-powered boss and his buddies, but don't let you heal between the fights, only during the actual fights, and that takes away from Ellis's action points (or uses one of your healing items AND some of your current character's action points, making it much more efficient to have your prepubescent elf girl do all the medic work so you can use your healing items to forge skills/items in town instead). the bosses in this game have such high stats AND health gauges that it's easiest to take down his asswipe minions until you've built up your Special and have enough action points to spend your Special on your EX moves and use those to almost, but not quite, fill the overkill meter, leaving you to grit your teeth, wondering what kind of super-special-awesome prize you could've earned by kicking the bastard in his pubes with just a bit more force. sad thing is, i knew this game would become unforgiving at some point, but i'm not even a tenth of the way through the game, and i've been playing with the difficulty as low as it gets. the box says it's going to be eighty hours, and christ, that's got to be the understatement of the year. they must only be counting hours you actually save and not ones spent trying to kill Marquis Braham, a boss i've encountered three times already, only to have one of the Gridamas Soldiers use Evil Omen and whipe out half of your in-battle party members, or have the Orcs from his third encounter when he's gone off his rocker clusterfuck you so he can whipe you out using a combo move that normally requires three people, one for each part of the combo, due to the amount of AP it consumes. i am reffering to a fire move called Scarlet Poemy, where you set your enemy on fire, send him to the fucking moon, and knock him back down with a fire-elemented physical attack. he can use the move all by himself for some damn reason, and even Borgnine, the Demi-God tank of your party, can hardly stand when HE does it, but when you do it to him, he's still gonna have a good part of his health bar left. anyways, i've gotten off topic in my rant, so goodnight.
