This statement is correct. Thank you.Drakulea said:The perpetrator is a full-blooded honest-to-God Norwegian. Time to call Norwegians terrorists? Are we going to jeer at Christianity for being a "Religion of Peace(not!)" now?
Or are we going to wise up and realize religion has NOTHING to do with terrorism, and it never has. Terrorism, yes even 9/11, has political motivations. 9/11 was all about the USA backing off its puppet regimes in the Middle East for example.

As I was told immediately upon pointing out the same thing: It's a typo. They shooter is an extreme rightist but it has not yet been fixed because the OP is currently asleep. It will hopefully be fixed as soon as he comes back, in the meantime the post will continue to proudly announce the shooter's fictional affiliations to the exact opposite of what he actually believes.mip0 said:"extreme leftist"?? He was not a fundamentalist AFAIK. But I wonder how long it takes conspiracy-nuts to to start to scream when they learn he was a freemason.Monsterfurby said:A christian nut, eh?
I am taking bets on how long it takes the US to go "Oh, a christian fundamentalist. Well, otherwise, he seems like a decent guy. Just forget what we said about helping you out."
Actually i would have to say your wrong about that on the grounds of their own religion that those that are Muslim follow and believe in the teachings of the Qur'an and iv'e read the Qur'an and i even have a friend who converted a few years back to becoming Muslim and i can tell you this:Hammeroj said:An extremist muslim is still a muslim. So, if a muslim extremist group did this, the people saying "muslims did it" are, in fact, factually correct.Killerowl said:Something I don't like about this is all the people jumping on the "muslims did it" bandwagon.
Just check the comments on the youtube video and see what I mean.
Yes, this was probably done by an EXTREMIST muslim group. Don't judge all of them because what very few of them does.
It pisses me off!
Indeed. To be honest, there is going to be an insane amount of speculation and conspiracy theories, simply because the case doesn't "fit" with the expectations of most of the western world, and media, in fact. I do think he had motives, and I very much believe they were political and not religious, but to be honest, Obama's statement in support of Norway really assumed Al Qaida involvement (as did the BBC coverage).e033x said:He was not a fundamentalist AFAIK. Yeah, um, when you have a 'moderator' tag next to your name, you can tell me what I'm 'entitled to' do here. I'm not sure that's how you intended your comment, but that's how it came off.Killerowl said:I can't believe people are still quoting these posts. You are entitled to your opinion, but please don't start this again.UberNoodle said:'Christian Peacefulness' and 'Muslim Violence' represent a false dichotomy. Remove the religious modifiers and we have two ends of a spectrum that is universal.
Christianity is centred on the 1st World and as such has inherited the sociopolitical aspects of that world - stability, personal freedom, excess, etc.
Islam is centred on the 3rd and 2nd Worlds and thus inherits their instability, corruption, poverty and sociopolitical turmoil.
Religion is a product of society and thus it only reflects it, not forms it. When a culture changes, so too does its religiosity, as with all its other systems.
The same atrocities that Isalmaphobes equate directly with Islamic faith, were perpetrated in the Sri Lankan the civil war, yet 70% of the population are Buddhist. 8% are Muslim. The rest are Hindu and Christian. In terms of the Tamil people (the other side of the war), 88% Hindu, and 5.5% are Muslim and rest are Christian. Yet, Buddhists and Hindus are seen as pacifists.
Incongruous to logic then, that they would commit such atrocities as car and suicide bombings, rape, beheadings and torture.
In Africa, some Christians also commit terrible crimes, of torture, misogynistic abuse. Incidentally, in the affluent West, 'good Christians' oppress the poor by legislating their health care away and moving their jobs overseas to Hindu and Buddhist nations. They also advocate 'enhanced interrogation techniques' and go to church the next day.
Religion is entirely a correlative factor. Sociopolitical, economic and resource factors are the true contributors.
And you're still missing a lot of factors to get the whole picture.
I just want this to stay on topic, since it almost got derailed by religion vs. religion discussions earlier.UberNoodle said:Yeah, um, when you have a 'moderator' tag next to your name, you can tell me what I'm 'entitled to' do here.
Well not well , I chatted with him , played some heroics , had one conversation on vent , but surely I couldn't have seen this coming , if only.... He played on Silvermoon , I posted his post history a couple of pages back. Thanks for support ,Haakong said:How well did you know him? Out of curiousity, what server did he play on?Gwarr said:Even when he played WoW the guy had a certain problem with me being liberal(liberal in Europe means a hybrid between conservatism and socialism ) and not agreeing with him on political problems . He openly hated immigrants , but seriously , almost 75% of the english player I played in WoW have expressed anger towards immigrants . I wish there was something I could have done for this to not happen....I know I shouldn't , but I feel guilty for not seeing what monster he really was , is this normal or I should go to a shrink?:S
And dont worry, we all feel guilty. Everyone that got some sort of connections to this feel they could have prevented it. Just think about the poor sods that let the madman travel to Utøya (since he was dressed as a policeman). Theyre innocent, yet they must feel like shit.
But talking with someone helps. If you dont have close family, a shrink might be a good choice. Just know this: This isnt your fault. Its the work of a man so deluded and psychotic NO ONE could have seen this coming.
After reading some of the things he has written on an anti-islamic website called document.no, I think I know what his motive was.Monsterfurby said:Indeed.
