Theres a difference between needing a reboot and moving on to a new IP.Captain Placeholder said:Who cares. "Oh boo hoo they are remaking a 4 game series which only half of them were any good! Q_Q_Q_Q_Q_Q_Q_Q_Q_Q_Q_Q_Q_Q_Q" That is all I am hearing from the fans. Face it, the series was getting stale, it needed rebooting. Much like RE needs a reboot :/
I would argue that the universe created and the characters there-within are much too interconnected to truly separate. Devil May Cry, for instance, feels more like a world built specifically for Dante than anything else. If they can't have THE Dante going about his world, just make a new game about a new devil hunter with a new story and a new world.Captain Placeholder said:Very true, however they have a great "universe" they can use. Why not retry with a reboot? I would only move onto a new IP if the "universe" they use is absolutely destroyed or has nothing left to gain from another game. Mind you I am just talking about the DMC universe and the RE universe either needs some great story and gameplay or to just die and move onto a new cash cow.Zeromaeus said:Theres a difference between needing a reboot and moving on to a new IP.Captain Placeholder said:Who cares. When it comes to both of those IPs, I think it would be better to just leave them behind if you can't push them any further.

Wow, so this is the project lead of DMC.
Sure looks like one badass ************, doesn't he? I couldn't believe that he was a game designer. He looked so much like a badass pretty boy from the depths of hell that I simply thought his profession was kicking ass.CK76 said:Now this explains everything!Zeromaeus said:Just making sure everyone saw this...TOGSolid said:![]()

So they made Dante look like the project lead? FAILURE!-Zen- said:Sure looks like one badass ************, doesn't he? I couldn't believe that he was a game designer. I have a female friend who disagrees with you, she thinks he looks pretty still, but a grungier pretty.tony2077 said:he's still ugly can't change that maybe he'll look different for the in-game stuff but not by muchTsunamiWombat said:You've seen one short trailer, how can you possibly determine any of that?tony2077 said:a voice of reason that a nice change. i just think he's ugly now, they could have done a better job designing himHubilub said:This announcement has brought out some of the most annoying whiners ever.
And they're not the ones you'd expect.
"Oh look, all the fanboys are mad because they are afraid of change! They're so immature! I didn't like DMC anyway!"
Every time I see an argument like this I get quite aggravated.
I mean, here we have a game series of 4 games in which only 2 of them are held in high regard. The second in the series is mostly ignored by people, and 4 was a huge disappointment for many because of the switch in Protagonist. People really wanted to see a new generation Devil May Cry game featuring the Dante they all know and love.
Then comes this reboot. The art-style is completely different from what DMC fans have come to expect, as it is now more dystopian future than a gothic setting, and Dante looks, sounds, and seemingly acts nothing like he used to.
I get it, not everyone thinks this reboot is a bad idea, and are intrigued, but they need to understand that to a lot of us, we still want a great DMC game on the new generation more similar to DMC 3 or 1 before we move on to a reboot. The series hasn't been given the proper goodbye it deserves. I mean for christ sake, continuity wise the series ends with a cliffhanger. Is it so hard to understand that people don't want change until the original series has been given a satisfying conclusion?
So please, stop calling people opposed to this "fanboys", or say that they are afraid of change, because it's not true. Some people might be overly dramatic about this, but that's no reason to insult them.
Any saying DmC ends with a cliffhanger is impying the series has a story, which may be a bit of an overstatement.
Why would they focus on that angsty wimp? Can't you see this dude is the badass bomb-diggidy, yo?shadow skill said:At any rate I would have preferred they stick with Nero and work on separating him from Dante for this reboot, rather than drastically redesigning Dante.
HAHAHA! In all seriousness I don't get all the hate for Nero or Raiden for that matter. A franchise should avoid being all about one character at all costs since most franchises are not going to end up being like Mario or Sonic.-Zen- said:Why would they focus on that angsty wimp? I don't understand the hatred either. I get the incredible disappointment of being taken from Snake to Raiden with no proper warning, and I do understand the dislike he gets to a certain extent, but I really don't get the full on hatred.shadow skill said:HAHAHA! If someone kneecapped kermit the frog, there would be some fucking blood. The guy is my hero.dathwampeer said:Tank god. I thought I was the only one. I've seen a few threads on this. And everyone's acting like someone just knee capped Kermit the frog..
Same here though I really liked Raiden, especially his interactions with Rose. I'm seriously hoping Rising doesn't suck as Raiden deserves to have a good game of his own. The same goes for Nero, who was a surprisingly fleshed out character. The same couldn't really be said for the rest of the supporting cast though. Kirie was just lame and uninteresting.-Zen- said:I don't understand the hatred either. Same with Nero, though all throughout Devil May Cry 4's development, it was very clear that Nero was the star. It's not like it snuck up on anyone like the revealing of Raiden. Hell, Nero wasn't even all that bad of a character. Sure, he was a slight too angsty for my tastes, but he still kicked some serious ass (as exhibited by his fight with Dante) and did manage to show some quality sarcasm.
