Starcraft... more specifically those alternative online maps. I played way to many Dragonball Z maps back then... Jimmy Raynor was Goku and a normal Marine was Gohan.

The Hours wasted.... and the limited way of maps.. You had not items or upgrades like warcraft III therefore you could only upgrade your weapon and armour... which went to 311 or something.

Huh...probably super mario bros. 2 and 3 take the honors here. I was addicted to those as a kid. Couldn't get enough of 'em. Parents had to continuously shut off the console and tell me to go outside.

I can't recall my very first game, since I started playing games when I was ~5 in the mid 80s on my dads monstrous black box of a computer that ate floppies (the original big kind)like mcdonalds hamburgers. But, these games from my childhood I remember well as taking up waaaaay too much time.

Star Control 2. Wing Commander 1. Privateer. Freespace 1 and 2. Wolfenstein 3d. Half Life. Lands of Lore: Throne of Chaos. Masters of Orion 2. Any Baldur's Gate game. and Morrowind, but thats more recent.

Sonic 2. Sure, I had the first one too, but it didn't suck me in anywhere near as much as 2 did. Sonic 2 was my second game ever, and we got a second Mega Drive controller for it, and me and my sisters wouldn't put the damn things down.

i realy dont have a "first adiction" becouse im adicted to practicly every game there wasnt just this one game that made me play like there was nothing else in the world(althoa mercenaries and portal made me get a lot less sleep)however i did use to love time spliters 2 on the gamecube however i didnt own a game cube and its no fun alone and i have a nephew that went to sleep at about 21:00 so that sucked but was nice(i miss that game but my nephew trashed his gamecube)(how can you trash a gamecube you say well by playing some anoying i dont know the name game and throwing your gamecube outa the window on the 5th floor)

Wow, i myself am only young now (still in highschool, england) and i have played many of the old classics (my brother is 10 years older than me) from sonic the hedgehog on the sega, James Bond Goldeneye on the N64 (A personal favorite, i memorized how to complete each level fully and perfectly) to World of Warcraft (Not a personal favorite, im not big on grinders), warcraft 3 (amazzzinggg modable online play), starcraft, diablo, sim city and many many more, i even play on all the new games and my computer is bloody gorgeous.

One series i was truely addicted to though, was the Command and Conquer series, especially the tiberium line-up. Ive always loved strategy builders and tiberium sun had one of the best storylines ever, the gameplay was also amazing. Ive never understood what i liked so much about that game but its just wonderful, its so unique. Sadly EA killed the series with the new release "Tiberium Wars" something about it just ruins the Tiberium feel, maybe because it was the first one not to be made by westwood i dont know, it just felt ruined...

P.S im not a fatboy and yes i do have lots of friends, i just started gaming when i was a young kid and i enjoy it lots :)

Hmm, Game/games that ruined my life.
I remember going to my neighbours house and having to choose between a megadrive and snes. I played Mario world on the snes and then sonic 2 on the megadrive. I chose the megadrive but the first game that absorbed my soul was not Sonic, it was Streets of Rage.
The next game was Command and conquer first RTS i ever saw or played.
After this came resident evil; Being about 5 or 6 this game gave me nightmares endlessly... yet i'd always return to watch my neighbour play it again.
Oh and doom definitely deserves a mention, i used to play link up with my neighbour (He gets mentioned alot, but he did introduce me to games) I'll never forget writing stories and drawing pictures of it in year 2... My teachers must of thought i was mad, i used to always draw the giant cyborg that fires missiles out of one of his arms. Anyway i could(did?) rant for ages because i play lots of games now. But these are the games that truly secured me as a lazy waster, then and now.

KOTOR and Jedi Knight II. Some of the first games I played were Star Wars games, and I was at the time unable to control my addiction. Later games I learned to ration out. I'm replaying JKII right now, and I'm in danger of getting addicted again. Luckily, I've beaten KOTOR so many times now I'm a bit sick of the story. Won't even forget how great a game it was when I first played it though.

Resident Evil, that was the first console game I played and I was addicted for life. I still love the series although it died around RE4 and I'll never forgive capcom...

The first game I EVER played was 'The Hobbit' on the Commodore 64... Ahh memories...

The first video game I have EVER played was some tennis game on the Sega Model 2 and Mario adn some Chip and Dale game...good times. And then I think came Anno 1602, though I'm not sure. And then I almost got hooked, since I'm not actually a gamer(I suck really bad at most genres of games, if not at all).

My first game addiction was Donkey Kong for the SNES (notice how every time someone makes a thread 'bout old games, or relating to them, I invariably end up talking about DK). I think games like that are what are causing me to kill my eyes.
