I was gonna say 'you're welcome, but then thought I should actually read it.
So for me it was Metal Gear Solid.

Nebulus. I still fire that crazy tower game up now and again.

Wiki for the obscure: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nebulus_(computer_game)

I learned to program on the same C64 that lovingly (to this day) attends that game for me.

wow, thanks for making this great thread, reading it took me back.

My first major addiction was the first crash bandicoot on the PS1. Wow...long time ago. From then I had some major relationships with Diablo II and Arcanum, finishing both more times than I can even think about. Honourable mention should go to starcraft and also to dawn of war actually, two great RTS games.

RPGs were always my thing though, and then when I started playing guild wars things just got so bad. Huge addiction, I played for 3 years, sometimes playing litterally all night, sleeping (well, snoozing) through my lessons at school, then logging on as soon as I got home for more. The only thing I think actually helped me stop playing was that I couldn't log on when I got to uni, because my halls connection was filtered, so we couldn't play them. Done with it now, I had a great time with it, but that was my problem, I love playing a game till it's my *****, and MMOs don't really get like that, unless you're weird or korean. Or both maybe...

Sonic the Hedgehog, my mom used to have to drag me out of my sister's room when I was playing it (the Genesis was in her room).

-The Sims. There was something about carefully crafting a house, creating the model family to live in it, and playing through until they had become moderately wealthy with an expanded "perfect home" and all of the expensive furniture that really became obsessive. Or maybe it was locking the father of said perfect family in a small room with no door, no food, no bed, and no toilet. Don't judge me, you know you've done it.
Ugh, same. It was like crack to me. Dang computer is too weak to play it now. Need to upgrade.

I got started in gaming at a late age, seeing as my parents refused to get me a console (finally bought a gameboy). So these are the first games I became addicted to that I owned.

handheld: Kirby's Dream Land 2 and Pokemon Blue
PC games: Starlancer and Midtown Madness 2
console: Sonic Adventure 2 and DOA 2

Final Fantasy VII and Tomb Raider II. They were my firsts (we got them at the same time), and my favorites to this day.

I haven't been glued to a game for ages now and I actually miss that feeling. I was alot worse because I got stuck playing Lineage 2 which is a MMORPG, those games never end!

The N64 pretty much single-handly did that. I played through GoldenEye 007 tons of times (but I could never get past the last level which was Aztec I think).

And I loved Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Mario Kart 64 (along with the SNES Mario Kart), Super Smash Bros., Bubsy (for the Genesis I think) and Rush for the N64.

Oh, and how could I forget Pokemon Red and Blue. Now those were time-consuming games.

well i was surprised at how many recent games there were here, the sims? thats pretty damn new. im gonna go with x-wing fighter. it was the collecters edition. x-wing fighter was the prequel to the more famous tie fighter. anyway that was the game that i first loved (i think) it got me into flight games, which are still one of my fav genres today. i still have it today, in hopes that one day microsoft will make an OS that will run old programs from windows 95
Actually, I run X-Wing on Vista with no problem on my Laptop. Good fun, all these years later.
wow seriously? does it require any special settings or what not?
