My friend hyped up the final bosses of FFIX pretty badly (4 major bosses in a row, one after the other). I was a few levels lower than I should've been but as a lark I decided to see how I would fare. I stocked up on good items, equipped armor that nulled elemental attacks and cancelled status ailments, and charged in.

Easy, peasy, lemon-squeezy. I was expecting "difficult difficult lemon difficult" (cookie for reference) and was very disappointed. Turns out the bosses use elemental attacks like they were going out of style so I walked through all four in record time. My friend was stunned.

The old monk in Demon's Souls. Since another player didn't connect to my game, the AI played him and I literally didn't take a single point of damage. Unlike the fucking maneater before him, my most hated boss in the game.

Dark Link in the Water Temple. All my friends were like, Dude he's fuckin' hard, you won't win! And I whooped his ass with the Megaton Hammer none of them even thought of using against him. _._

My friend loaned my his copy of The Force Unleashed after like 6 weeks of asking him for it (it took him that long to beat it). He told me that Darth Vader was impossible and thats why it was taking so long. I beat the whole game in like 1 day and Darth Vader was a chump

Not really a boss, but Deathclaws in Fallout 3. My friend made it seem like if you got in a fight with one, you were screwed. I randomly ran into one, and took it out rather easily.

Now, I'm not saying I'd want to waltz into Old Olney and challenge all of them at once, but my friend made them seem worse than Behemoths.
Deathclaws depend on a lot.

If they see you before you know they're even there, encounters with them tend to be sudden and decisive.

Sneaky toons that aren't likely to get spotted first have that as a large advantage over them, and anyone who's built a Dart Gun will have no problems with them at all - they're just not that scary with crippled limbs.

Tartarus in Halo 2. my friends made him out to be a damn monster who was impossible except for very brief moments that were far and few in between. I drove a banshee in and got him to jump over the edge at me with his big hammer and fall to his death

Yunalesca in FFX. I beat her on my first try once I noticed the whole zombie business that she did.

Star Ocean 2, the secret boss Gabrielle Celeste. I heard that she would ruin me unless I was at lv 255 and she was hard even then. I beat her below level 200 without a healer in my party. Unlimited Indalecio, however, is still too hard for me to beat.

I waltzed into Ol' Olney and let Fawkes challenge them all, guess who won.

Evrae Altana in FFX, every where you look it says that he's the toughest boss so far. Susceptible to slow and by then you should have hastega half his HP gone by his first turn.

Then again I'm the guy who kicked the shit out of Nemesis first try and only got hit once from using an overdrive.

FF7's Sephiroth. Between his great reputation and my older brother talking about how difficult and close the fight was for him, I was... rather disappointed when he turned out to be a very tame and simple final boss (for me, anyways). I didn't even grind or prepare or anything. I just charged the crater as soon as I could as a joke, expecting to get my ass handed to me, and he was simply destroyed with very little difficulty.

FF6's Kefka and FF10's Sin as well, although I admit I over-prepared like a ***** for those two. :)

Spam pistols = win.

But for me I would say it was any enemy in Hellgate: London. My friends who played the game kept complaining about dying. I died maybe thrice in the whole game. Why? Marksmen with a sniper that shot further than the draw distance.

People said that RAAM in GOW could not be beat alone on Insane!
They were wrong!.. Its doable!.. Just takes a few tries(over 25) and aloooot of patience!
Really? I honestly found him to be ridiculously easy. Not the first time through, but I have it down to a science now that I can beat him in 30 seconds by myself, and 12 seconds with a perfect partner.

Um, other than that, I can only think of opposite examples, where bosses are waaaaay harder than I heard.

The second and third seymour fights in FFX. Everyone tells me how hard they were but they were extremely easy. 2nd seymour is beaten by the reflect spell, whilst the third seymour is beaten by just switching your party members around after he zombifies 1 of em (at one point he actually ended up using full life on my dead character... thanks seymour :D)

Killer Croc in Batman Arkham Asylum.

I hear a few people on the web talking about how 'scary' and 'nailbiting' the experiance of trying to battle Killer Croc was and given the game itself goes to incredible lengths to hype it up I was very unimpressed with the final result.
