That thing in the Blast Pit from Half Life 1.

Seriously, HOW THE HELL am I supposed to get PAST THAT THING!!!!??

I managed to do it out of sheer luck, and that was a relief.

Goddamn, this ***** is just so unfair. It didn't even matter what difficulty you were on, she'll just teleport behind you and rip off half your health in one move.

And unlike most ultra-hard bosses, whom you only have to fight once and then it's over, you have to fight this damn thing every single bloody time you want to complete a storyline or unlock a costume.
Oh God, don't remind me of that. Why was there no easy difficulty on that game?

Captcha: ntsityri colony. To the Normandy!

The Jealous Bass from Mother 3.

I was stuck on this guy for a good-week, trying out several-tactics. Eventually I just snapped, fired 15-Pencil Rockets, and spammed the shit out of PK Love.

Mega Gideon from Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The GAME. I was severely underleveled, and all my stats were under 30. I was doing about 12-Damage every hit and I was taking about 40-Damage and was stunned for about 5-seconds every time. It was a nightmare. Until, after, like, 5-days I found the Power of Love stuck in the cloud just next to the battle-arena. I can't beleive I didn't see it the first couple of hundred times.

Brock from Dead Rising.

I swear, when he wasn't beating me up on the tank, he was knocking me into the nearby crowd of zombies to watch me being slowly eaten alive. God, he was an absoloute *****.

Level 2 of that one Devil May Cry game that everyone hated for being so hard. I forget the number. I think #3? Actually, I'm not even sure I beat level 1.

Almalexia! It might have been that I had used most of my health potions fighting through the whole dungeon because I would hit her once and she would take out 90% of my health. Then I had to run around the room until it regenerated (Thank you so much, auto-win ring that I stole from Helseth xD) So I guess it wasn't hard, it just took forever.

Every single boss from Ninja Gaiden 2.

Especially the big ones.
pretty much that. Also, the second fight with the Black Knight in SOnic and the black knight. He starts off kinda easy but then right near the end he gets uber cheap in a quicktime wiimote waggle event that's almost impossible to do. I had to get a friend to beat him for me otherwise I wouldn't have been able to go on and eventually beat the game.

i never beat the last boss of prototype.
It took me a while to beat the last boss of Gears 1.
That was easy in co-op.

Mine was probably The first Chainsaw guy in Army of Two 2 or the Flamethrower guy. Everytime me or my co-op partner died, game over, Too hard to get there. And if we did get them, their body guards would get rid of what little health we had left. Fucking hectic. Toook us about four hours, per day, for a week.

The final boss from Demon's Souls is a fucking nightmare, i died almost instantly every time i fought him (which was at least 40 times btw). There is also the fact that it takes about 10 minutes to get to him after each death, fighting quite a few tough enemies along the way.
Are you really talking about the blob that flops around the room? Or the next to last boss that everyone on the first time playing thinks is the last boss with the hellishly huge AoE attack and the 1-hit kill attack?

For me, last boss in Prototype for already stated reasons. He can kill you in 3-hits and not one of those military guys are helping you. And you have to beat him in 1 minute 30 seconds. A least the bug that made the Red Dragon in Demon Stone was unintentional in it took me 4 hours to beat him because someone thought it would be great to have it trigger only when you stood on an exact square millimeter of ground or the spell would bounce off and kill your mage.

The part in Batman Arkham Asylum where the titan henchmen come out of the lift with about 30 henchmen. On hard mode its basically impossible :/
I'll be honest, I didn't have that much trouble with that one. IF you played it on Normal first then Hard. I layed down some blasting gel before hand and let the Titan's do most of the work for me.

That ***** can just go to hell! I never broke anything fighting her, but it was pretty damn close.

OT: I got pretty damn trashed by the shadow boss in Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. Can't even remember how I beat him, just that I howled with joy upon doing so.

Also:

The second Seymour fight. He made me start over from scratch, just so I could level a party specifically to beat him. In hindsight, the party I was using was really terrible, but holy hell, he made me rage.

I'd also throw Kakuzu from Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 in there. Pretty much all the boss battles up to this point have been really (if not too) easy. And then this guy shows up. All of a sudden you have to dodge attacks that take major chunks of your health and time your attacks just right. Took me a good few tries to get him down. A sudden, but welcome change of pace.

By distracting it with grenades. Nearby NPC's say it is attracted to sound and you get a big bag-o-nades right before.

I gave up on the final boss fights in Metroid Prime 2, and haven't touched it in years.

In The Legend of Dragoon, there's Lenus. Here's some background; She's a magic spamming boss, and very few of your party members have any decent magic defense. She's also very fast, which usually equates to several concecutive turns.

The worst part? Her speed is INVERSELY PROPORTIONAL to how much health she has. Meaning she gets faster the more you hurt her. I was on the recieving end of 12 concecutive turns of powerful magic. Furthermore...Most of her spells are mass effect spells, meaning that they hit the entire party. And that's just round one.

Round two,she gets better armour, better spells, and a better melee stat. And...A Sea Dragon ally. THE sea dragon. Thankfully, she loses the whole speed crap.

And players are usually around level 15 by this point. The game is 4 discs long. You fight her during the second disc.

Third seymour battle in ffx. It's hardly impossible but it's so much harder than anything up to that point. In my opinion it's even harder than his 4th form. Having to re-watch a way too long cutscene every time you fail doesn't help either
Bloody this! God damn, I raged so hard after dying to him and wasting the whole day trying to kill him that I actually deleted my save in sheer frustration and anger... I'm currently working on slowly regaining the lost progress because I hate having unfinished games taunting me on the shelf...
Spira... is caught in an endless spiral of sorrow and death. To destroy...? To heal it! I shall yadayadayada
Protips: use haste to make sure your guys get as much turns as possible in between his suit and seymour himself. That way you can cure zombie status before he kills them with full-life. You can also predict when he is going to do total annihilation. When he is readying it just summon an aeon and immediatly blast the overdrive. (make sure they all have a full overdrive bar before you start the fight) That way he won't banish the aeon before it can do it's overdrive and he will waste his total annihalation. And if he casts reflect on himself, dispel it and he will hit himself with flare.
And if you really must, there's always zanmato.
