Typing the last letter of a text, phone battery runs out.

Go look for keys to shed in house for half an hour, in pocket the whole time.

Buy something from vending machine, it doesn't come out.

When stuff like this happens, I (and many others) are only too quick to use the slang "that's gay". I don't like it. I wish that I didn't.

Nobody means gay 'gay', we mean irritating 'gay' - but it still gets to me that I should use this expression on instinct.

So, escapist, what sort of substitutes do you have, and more importantly, how would you go about integrating them into your reflex vocabulary?

Edit: to make it clearer:

-Obviously words are just words, it is the intent behind them that counts, it's just nice to try and match the two up as best as possible.

-What would you substitute in terms of: "That's so _____"?

I say 'well that sucks' a lot, but I also call things gay. I may also call things crap or say 'god damn it'.

I don't really have a criteria for which one I use. Just whatever comes to my mind first.

When a vending machine takes my money, i'll usually punch it a few times and say something like "god damn fucking bullshit fucking piece of shit!"

That will go on for about 30 secs, all over $1 that I really don't care about.

English is not my native language so I've never had this problem. :D On the other hand, since I'm gay myself it would be kinda cool to see people's reactions if I would use it as a curse word... :p

I've actually trained myself not to use 'gay' like that anymore. I usually just say, "That's dumb," "Shit," or "BLUBLUGYUH."

I use it all the damn time. "That game is gay", "Fucking gay" whenever I die in game, and "your gay" as a casual insult to friends. I don't really say it in publc though.

"That's gay!"

"How would you like it if someone called you gay."

"Oh, I'm gay so I can say it like that."

I usually just say 'Fuck' and change the inflection depending on circumstance. Or if things are getting worse, a mantra of 'fuckfuckfuckfuckfuck' under my breath.

...actually I don't use it anymore. In High School it's kinda hard to avoid, but these days I just go to good old fashioned swearing.

Words don't matter, meaning and context do.
If you're not a homophobe then you're not a homophobe, so it doesn't matter.

I just yell medical Jargon or specifically scientific terms. in order to confuse all involved parties.

That or I yell "CURSES!!" to the world (literally, the word "Curses")

This reminds me of the commercial where some chick tells off a group of boys for calling a statue game. She says something along the lines of, "how would you feel if I said that's so 13-year-old-pimply-faced-teen?". My first thought was, "I don't think I'd care honestly".
