Yet another trailer that looks awesome but is probably scripted like crazy. I really don't believe that whole thing where he runs out of ammo, the bad guy says "I know that noise" and walks up, and then the girl throws something at him and the main character charges him. I highly doubt that arose as part of the natural AI routines of the enemy and the girl in that situation, or that the engine dynamically decided that the main character should slam the dude's face into the desk because of their exact position in the room.
Actually, I'm not sure why that's so hard to believe. In Uncharted 3, they already had enemies that yelled "He's out of ammo!" if you fired an empty gun. (Pretty sure it was Uncharted 3, but I know I've seen it SOMEWHERE.) It also had contextual melee attacks. Drake would sometimes grab a nearby object and smack someone with it if you hit the "Punch someone in the face" button, rather then just punching them in the face, but only if a "smackable" object happened to be near. The only part of the video that I find hard to believe is the girl's interferences. But apart from that...Honestly, I don't see why this video is hard to believe.

Well...Let me amend that. I'm sure this sequence WAS scripted for the sake of the demo (all demos are scripted, obviously. They don't want some random fuck-up ruining everything in front of millions of people) but the point is that it COULD have happened unscripted in the actual game. Isn't that the point of all demos like this?

I am psyched for this game because of the potential it has. It LOOKS like someone turned The Road into a video game and just tweaked the setting around a little bit. If they pull that off, I will have to steal a friend's PS3 for this game. If not, then I will be very disappointed, but then I'll grab my Wii-U and play ZombiU, unless that is also a disappointment, in which case I quit.

You know, shit like this makes me want a PS3. All of the xbox exclusives that brought me to xbox have run their course, and it appears Microsoft couldn't care less about acquiring new exclusives.

Ellen Page this, Ellen Page that. Why is she such a big deal? Do I play as her? "Oh Ellen Page is so cute", "Oh what an engaging character Ellen Page is" Blehh...

Cool game though.

I'm not sure why it should be scripted, Uncharted had plenty of these moments and they weren't scripted, even the girl helping you shouldn't need to be scripted, its no different from AI in Uncharted games before shooting enemies and taking cover right beside you without interrupting gameplay, all that is needed is for her to give you a chance to do what is necessary by throwing something when you are out of ammo and in a tight spot or randomly attacking enemies from behind to give you an opportunity to retaliate when and enemy gets you down, no different from those close quarter melee moments in Uncharted games when you had to try to dodge punches or other attacks, a little like qte but not always scripted, only when you should decide to attack that enemy fist to fist rather than with guns and of course the occasional scripted boss kill just for the action which wasn't intrusive or repetitive.

Everyone says it looks scripted, but this is the Uncharted developers we are talking about and while those games were linear, they rarely ever felt like giant QTE, I'd say God of War was more like that, besides, why would Naughty Dog add the vulnerable girl as a gameplay aspect if she is going to 1) be a burden like other escorting games and 2) make the game scripted to hell just so she has some purpose. It wouldn't be the Naughty Dog that I know, that's for sure.

I'm a little confused about the female protagonist, she talks like shes in her 20's but looks like she's an early teen? Really curious what they're aiming at with her.
If you were born into a world where everything was dead and you were forced to survive from childhood, I'm pretty sure you'd be as mature as her and speak as mature as her.

I've seen 'children' (not even a preteen like the character in this game) who aren't even in these circumstances and they speak far more mature and articulate then most fully grown adults. Maturity is wholly dependent on the individual's choice, not necessarily based on age. Nothing should stop a 9 year old using big intellectual words if that was what they were brought up around and as for the swearing? Surely you've seen some kid using foul language, its prominent everywhere these days.

Yeah, I'm sold. It looks friggin' amazing. Added to my must play list.

Also:

Ellie... Ellen... Purely coincidental, I'm sure.
I actually assumed from the first trailer I saw of this game that the girl was modeled after Ellen Page, seems fitting as well

Hopefully it's not scripted, but even if it is, I loved Uncharted, so I'm sure I'll love this game. Watch Dogs was good, AC3 was amazing, Playstation All-Stars was cool, and The Last of Us was amazing. I'm getting my PS3 fixed by fall for sure.

Also, just watching the trailer, the protagonist might as well be the bad guy. Seriously, perhaps I missed something, but he comes across some scavengers and proceeds to murder them. He stealth kills the first guy and is caught by his friend, who is understandably upset about someone murdering his bro. Things just spiral out of control, with the scavengers fighting for their life against a psychotic murderer who is hunting them down one by one. Oh and the crazy killer seems to be dragging along a little girl and is having her help him kill people.

I'm guessing that the full game provides some context for all this, but just watching the video makes me feel like the main character is the bad guy...
that's exactly what i was thinking when i watched it. it just looked like senseless slaughter to me without any context.

Uncharted sucks.

But this game looks pretty sweet.

If I had a PS3, I would probably get this. Unfortunately for Sony, I do not.

I had to rewatch the trailer, but right before the action starts, you can hear the scavengers openly say that they had just gotten done killing some other "tourists," even saying "they put up a helluva fight."

First time I watched, I thought the same thing. I hope it's made more-obvious in the real game that you aren't a murderous bastard.

It's NOTHING like Uncharted 3. No platforming, no puzzles... the only thing it has in common with U3 is the developer, and that it's a 3rd person shooter.
From what i`ve seen in this trailer it sure looks otherwise. To be fair they seem to focus a bit more on melee and the whole survival theme, but other than that the whole basics like shooting, melee and stealth looks like they copied it straight from Uncharted. This isn`t ment to be a bad thing since it was solid in the Uncharted franchise. The only thing really new seems to be the option to take a hostage.

ND will deliver something most people will like. They almost perfected their way in creating playable movies and i have no doubt that it could play out just like seen in the trailer.
I like Uncharted for the overall package including wide varied setpieces, puzzles, light platforming, playable scriptscenes, interesting banter between characters. The QTE combat and the shooting are not what makes Uncharted fun to me, it`s just ok.
In the end i`m curious what LOU has to offer besides shooting and melee.

How is this awesome? A guy and a girl boringly fight a very crappily designed zombie like creature, in a very standard dull environment. This is the best e3 offered this day? Christ.
No. A guy and a girl fight a seemingly intelligent human enemy in a semi-standard destroyed city environment.

Damn, if that stuff it AI and not direct scripting...
