Let's pretend for a bit that we have discovered intelligent alien life, or maybe humans have aggressively colonized the galaxy and now inhabits a number of planets, and each species/colony has its own anthem. Which song would you choose to be the anthem of Earth?

Please provide a Youtube clip of the song.

Thanks to the 5 or 6 people who put actual thought into a song that would make a nice anthem for Earth, to everyone else this isn't a "Songs that you like" thread, quite frankly I find some of your taste in music to be utterly shit, and most songs in this thread would make the aliens laugh at us before they put us out of our misery of being unable to tell what good music is, buckle down people we will not let the Grays and Reptilians laugh at us because our anthem sucks.

And for a few of you you may want to look up the word anthem, an anthem is a song that says "Gee, isn't that place swell, I really like that place,"

Let's pretend that the aliens are friendly, and that we as humans aren't stupid, agressive jackasses, all these "Let's show the aliens how awesome and warrior-like we are. 'MERICA!!!" Songs are not what we are aiming for.

I'm gonna just pick what I'm listening to at the time, so I guess it would be this. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/miracle-of-sound/3059-Fire-in-Your-Hole-Bulletstorm]

It takes two distinctly different kinds of music (Opera and Rap) and blend them into one single piece that is awesome beyond words. Kind of like how diverse humanity is and the awesome things we can achieve when we work together. Also I would totally play this song as humanity went to war against aliens.

Well, I'd assume that mankind will go with the aggressive approach, so we need something that will be intimidating:

We better send those xenos a message, and what better way to send it than with a song that includes the lines:

" We are high atop a mountain, with hammers in the wind. Lusting for blood and death again!"

and

"I see the fear you have inside, you can run but never hide! I will hunt you down and tear you limb from limb!"

>:D

(P.S Before anyone asks: yes, my ideal future of space colonization is very Warhammer 40.000-ish :p)

There is only one anthem to play. Th greatest national anthem ever composed.

No one can deny that this anthem beats every other anthem with the stock of an AK-47 and a boot to the teeth. The Motherland shall rise again, she is just resting.

C&C made me love the Soviets, or at least the military.

Because it's a fucking great, albeit depressing, song. Everyone thinks Gears 'cause of those goddamned ads. I was pissed when I saw them. Turned my opinion of the song into fanboy-ism for like 2 years.

Also, in response to the cover-art depicted in Housebroken Lunatic's choice, why are Germany and Brazil the next most prominent flags? I understand that from current economic perspectives they are powerhouses (Watch. 25 years and Brazil will be top 3.), but why not China or (South) Korea? Because the designers and/or artists were relatively unaware or because they simply don't acknowledge anything east of Germany?

So stirring and hopeful. I like to think aliens would be impressed by any species that came up with this.

Due to our inclination to progress through war and persevere through destruction and disease, I'd have to say that any observations made of the human race by another sentient species would be one of fear and caution.

I love humanity so, much, really, we're amazing. Full of variety and charity as well as monotony and violence. We blossom through a controlled burn.

So, I put forward Hordes of Chaos, by Kreator.
