The best RTS of all time

Even though I absolutly fail at most RTS games, my favourite would have to be Company of Hereos. The resources are easy to manage and you don't have to take care of those F&^&*#@^() mining vehicles all the the time. Enough of my opion, what do you think?

gameplay wise it's a coin toss between star craft and red alert 2

however i'm leaning towards red alert 2 because of the corny but halrious live action cut scenes

I would put the "greatest of all time" title on it, but its damn close... and the tides can turn at any time, even with Shermans bearing down on the base a well-placed flak-88 can save your ass.

I have always been a big fan of the total war series. Company of Heroes is right up there for sure though.

personally,I LOVE europa 3.

Its not everyones cup of tea,but if you want an RTS with historic flavour and a massive world(the map is the world,Europe,American,Asia everywhere expect a few areas that would be too hostile to sustain life)

One of the most common complaints I see thought is you don't get to control battles,you effect them with moral,which is effected by alot of things in your nation and you can improve alot yourself.

Also the I adore ecomonic management,really without thats its more like a real time TACTICAL game.

A good one for me was Dawn of War, very similar to Company of Heroes since it was made by Relic as well. It did get a bit too easy in parts, for example a fully upgraded squad of Space Marines kicked so much ass it's unreal.

I did really like Company of Heroes but I'm not really into the World War 2 theme, just doesn't do it for me.

Also another one I really liked was Command & Conquer Red Alert 2.

KKND Krossfire for the PS1. Other than that the standard Warcraft 3, maybe tiberian sun and DoW 1.

Edit: How could I forget ago of mythology... loved that game.

I have always been crap at every RTS I've played, except I love Supreme Commander. I'd say that's gotta be my favourite. I'm pretty sure they changed heaps in Supcom 2 though, so I dunno about that one.

my favorite 2 that i own and play often are dawn of war ( plus ALL the expansions ) and Red Alert 3.

both extremely entertaining and addictive in my opinion.

Well, I haven't played much RTS' but one of my favorites is Red Alert 3, it's pretty easy to understand once you know what your doing.

I've played plenty of RTS's but I guess the ones id talk about would be Starcraft, Dawn of War (not dawn of war 2), and Red Alert 2.

Yeah CoH is my favorite hands down.
Then the Total War series.
