Don't forget The Doctor (Doctor Who). If he isn't a British superhero/savior, then I don't know who is.
Relax, you only need to mention the Doctor once. However, the Doctor isn't really British of course. Did they have countries on Gallifrey? Nor is he really a superhero.

Anyway, if we're talking about our actual native countries here, I was wondering what a Captain Scotland would be like... Diminutive, poor and lacking in any useful skills, most likely.

I like the idea for world peace, its one i can get behind to be honest. In fact, hell, i'd be willing to start up such a tournament...now i just need the funds.

I still think it's a shame that there's a "RED Baron" movie...

And yet Canada STILL dosen't have a "Captain Canuck" or "Johnny Canuck" movie; What a rip!

This dosen't count!
If it comforts you: The Red Baron movie wasn't that good.

As for the topic: USA is a very young country it doesn't have that much History or Mythology, the closest thing uSA has to Mythology are Super Heroes. This is why other countries don't have super heroes for the simple reason that they are much older than USA and have their own mythology. The Greek have Heracles, Perseus Odysseus etc. Germans have Siegfried, North Europe has Thor, Saudi Arabia has Sindbad, Alladin etc. Italy has some Roman Heroes I cannot recall right now. And all of these Heroes have in common that they are featured in insane amounts of stories and movies, so as you see moviebob, other countries don't need to catch up. Their Super Hero Phase is already over.

My country has many heroes, but I doubt that many people would understand what they stand for...
Every country has its hero moderns or old, and I would definitely like too see other country super heroes and try too understand for what they stand.

I expected to get into the deal with Captain America - I assume it's too big of a topic for 5-10 mintues, and you don't want to spend more than one episode on it.

Captain America looks like USA's propaganda handout but that's because his origins are in diffrent times.US always been about "We're the best country in the world", but till the end of cold war nobody knew that it wasn't true - there's no Utopia or any perfect thing in this world and people have to face those facts.
Captain was always about being "good" and not "patriotic", because apperantly "being a good person is good for your contry" ergo patriotic. He did start a Civil War for what he believed was good for his own country, and that's why people love/like him. Even if you're not from USA then you still like a person that fights for your safety no matter what.

USA which might be 1/3 of a continent is a young contry in comparison to European's or Asian's countries and all heroes it have are its presidents and fantasy characters - history wise it's:
Colonisation >> Making of USA >> Civil War >> WWI >> WWII >> Cold War >> Present Time
The only really known heroes are leaders in those wars - and you won't learn about any other ones even if they were from TV (Otherwsie I'd known of them).

I'm afraid that if any easter european contry were to create a super hero, it would look like the main character from GTA IV with super powers. Stereotypes tend to come out easly and they aren't always good. Captain have it easy, because he's dressed in a flag because USA is the only country that would dress in their flag in other conditon than a sport tournament.

No way, you keep Beckham. If he comes back he brings one of the Spice Girls back with him.

... Really sorry about them by the way. We didn't know they'd make a movie.

So...we're not going to talk about last week...?

Meh, I guess it's for the best...

Anyway, despite being hesitant, I watched the new vid, and I'll say I'm glad you mellowed out a bit. Your ideas aren't exactly new, and the whole 1v1 idea's been floating around for centuries. I even read it in some old-timey book, if I could just remember the name...

But I'm glad to see the big Boston teddy-bear is back.....which leaves me to my next concern.

Why do you mix out your accent?

Ordinarily anything that was made in america and had the word america in it would annoy the hell out of me, but I actually really like captain america. There are alot of things I love about him as a character, most of all that he carries a shield instead of a weapon. Frankly I think, not only americans but, everyone can learn something from that.

I'm not sure if there are any note worthy Irish super heroes........unless there's one i don't know about in which case, would someone please fill me in.

Edit: if someone says Banshee I will be upset.
The Irish have Paladin Alexander Anderson from Hellsing OVA!

Not to into this weeks one.

Seems very messy and all over the place.
A bit unfocused true, but still good and well worth the price of admission.

I've been stuck trying to explain how Cap is a good character more times than I want to remember. Hes one of my favorite heroes and so, given other movies (transformers), Ive been fearing this one. But..hey...with that statement it sounds like there is a bit of hope for it. I mean it cant be worse than the Captain America motorcycle :)

Also, we Swedes aren't much for bragging or patriotism, so it's not really in our nature.
Only U.S. citizens really are. I can't think of any non-english speaking superhero anyway.
I hear Japan has a few of them >_>

OT: You didn't mention Captain Canuck Bob, I'm disappointed.

Also I'm not really digging this series.

Watched it. Now hate it so much that I had to post something.

What really annoyed me the most was the Jamie Oliver gag. Did you totally miss the point of what he was trying to achieve in Huntington? Its pretty goddamn selfless for someone to leave their family for 4 months to try and change people's lives for the better when they don't want your help in the first place.

And another thing. I had a quick read through peoples comments on the way down, not many, but a few... and why do some people feel the need to put their points across with such an unnecessary amount of pompous flamboyance. Can't people just say what they mean without coating it in a layer of arrogance and shit?

Worst idea for a show ever. Bob already has a weekly show and a column. From watching this I think he's run out of genuinely intellectual and funny things to say... before you know it he'll be onto cock-gags.

OH WAIT A MINUTE......

Did anyone else think he lost track of Captain America somewhere in the rant? Also, why a Street Fighter tournament? Wouldn't that be cheating? I don't care how good you are at boxing you're not going to beat the 7,000lb sumo wrestling world champion, HE WILL EAT YOU! Though the concept made me think of G Gundam, Not the story, just the concept that each country sends a robot to a massive tournament and the one winning country rules the earth for the next 5 years.

A few years ago a Norwegian comic book was published that stared four of our greatest classic writers, known as "The Great Four" which was also the name of the comiv book, set in a "steampunky" version of Norway at the start of the 20th century, where they were reimagined as asskicking über people. If an all Norwegian, patriotic movie should be made, it should star this version of Henrik Ibsen [http://www.google.no/imgres?imgurl=http://www.virrvarr.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/de_fire_store-utsnitt.gif&imgrefurl=http://www.virrvarr.net/blog/category/comix/&usg=__8GgC8eih7-wFO65j8GFuVM1P4pI=&h=241&w=425&sz=37&hl=no&start=0&sig2=MwtRah16sLcLsXaD_DUTBw&zoom=1&tbnid=W0Wu_LOAUtEV6M:&tbnh=117&tbnw=207&ei=avziTLPhC8HoOZnq7O8N&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dde%2Bfire%2Bstore%2Btegneserie%2Bibsen%26um%3D1%26hl%3Dno%26biw%3D1333%26bih%3D645%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=473&vpy=282&dur=371&hovh=168&hovw=296&tx=149&ty=84&oei=avziTLPhC8HoOZnq7O8N&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=19&ved=1t:429,r:8,s:0].
