Divinity 2, I have never felt so ripped off in my life.

The difficulty and the bugs were grating, but there was a good game underneath it.

And then I reach the ending "cutscene" and its all I can do to stop myself from chucking my entire console out of a window.

Devil May Cry 4.

After the the leap in quality from DMC2 to 3 I was expecting so much more from the fourth one.
I was having trouble really thinking of one until you mentioned this. DMC4 was easily the biggest letdown, ever. I even dropped an extra twenty on the special edition.
Yeah I got the special edition myself. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who was pissed off by it. Here's hoping they'll manage to fix the plot and actually explain some things in the next game eh?

The newer Resident Evils (4+5). At least 5 cut down on the QTEs, but the inventory system and AI did not meet my standards.

RE4 was just... not fun.

For me this is a no brainer: Silent Hill Homecoming.

It painfully displayed EVERYTHING that went wrong within the series and was programmed by a team that never ever understood the term 'subtle'. Seriously, these guys' research about the Silent Hill franchise was watching the movie once tops.

pessimistic thread is pessimistic. But very well.

Team fortress 2. And yes, I may be saying that to spite all the people that posted in this thread that laud the game, but I also say it because I bought the orange box just to play it, and my little brother has clocked more hours on it than I have in any other game over the past year.
You don't understand. This isn't the worst game counting every facet of your life, this is the most disappointing. How does any of that disappoint you?
I'm voting for Spore and Fable 2. Even combining the games for half the price and they would still be shit IMHO.
well, let me elaborate. I bought the orange box because I seriously wanted to play TF2, I'd heard alot about it and was looking forward to some frantic multiplayer. When I did get it, I got about 2 hours out of it before I just stopped playing. That, my friend, is the disappointment, I expected to spend days of my life racking up the achievements, making some awesome kills, and yet I deigned instead to just play the half life 2 series that came with it, which entertained me more.

Oh God. I'm going to catch Hell for this.

Half-Life 2. It's boring, repetitive, cookie-cutter, the storyline is awful (Gordon, go from here to there, then to here, then there. The end!) the driving missions are awful (and the machines steer like crap) the enemies are generic and bland. The only saving grace (and the reason I feel the game gets praised) is the physics engine (woooo.) With every level, I thought "man this level sucks, maybe the next level will be better..."

Farcry 2

After playing through Crysis and being thoroughly impressed by the relatively open means of approaching any situation, I was looking forward to everything that was advertised about Farcry 2, i.e. dynamic terrain, faction-influence, an enormous world to explore, the ability to fly, etc. But then my friend got the game and told me, "You know Crysis? Well imagine that, but in Africa with infinite spawns of dudes with infinite vision, a gun that glitches every 3 seconds, buildings that CAN'T actually be destroyed, and no aliens. Oh, and you have malaria. Yeah, it kinda sucks."

And I was so looking forward to it...

I rented a little game called Clive Barker's Jericho from a rental store. Worst game I've ever played relative to my expectations.
-The characters yell every single piece of dialogue regardless of the situation
-The AI of the mindless demonic enemies surpasses that of your militarily trained comrades
-Your role in the team functions more as "go and rez the people as they die, because you're never going to get a chance to fight"
-The powers were decent, and the backstories weren't bad, but those are far from redeeming factors.
-Countless other bits of stupidity I don't care to find the game again to replay and tell you about.
-Yahtzee's review went too easy on it(and that's saying something) IMO.

Borderlands. After spending so much time on the forums and listening to all the lies (didn't know they were lies at the time) the game was a serious letdown.
How was it a let down? Plus what lies?

My worst let down from a game?
Final.
Fantasy.
VII.

They promised so much but gave so little; they said there were going to be two different types of cars and thousands of customizations for them. plus the story wasn't very good.

Hello. Friendly neighborhood old fart here. My first videogame letdown was in 1982 when I got the Atari 2600 version of Pac-man. That was followed shortly thereafter by the an even steamier pile of kimchee called the E.T. cartridge. Both were such horrible games that I nearly cried. Wanna know what was even worse? Years later I found out that the Pac-man cartridge cost nearly 80 bucks when my parents bought it.

Modern disappointments include Spore (the creature creator was great, everything else about it was blah), and anything with DRM on it (I paid for it, now piss off and leave my hard drive alone!)

Resident Evil 5.

I won't repost what I've already said once today, but my response to this thread pretty much sums it up.

Dragonball: Raging blast i guess is the most recent, but of all time i guess it has to be The Legend of Zelda: Twilight princess.
