Sonic '06. Need I say more? There were a few bad ones before that (Sonic R, Sonic Shuffle, a couple Game Gear outings), but '06 still takes the stale cake. Only now, 5 years later, are people really starting to forgive Sonic for that abomination and give his games a chance again. But it's not like Unleashed and Black Knight were much better, though (but I did hear good things about Unleashed's daytime levels). However, everything after Black Knight has been a step forward, and that's a good sign for the blue blur.
Somehow I liked that game? WTF is wrong with me?

Take note I never played any of the 3D Sonic games before this one as well as being more used to PS1-2 quality games. It felt fine in some aspects but the optimization and fleshed out details just wasn't there for me.

Also Ratchet and Clank Size Matters. Another example of why outsourcing good series is one hell of a risk. Why, Insomniac, why?
Damn you sir just ninja'd me size matters was bad there was one weapon that could do anything to the enemies
I also have to say any crash bandicoot game after twinsanity even then twinsanity wasn't the greatest game in the series

Halo Wars. It's not proper Halo and it introduces non-canon elements that make my inner fanboy very angry.

Total Annihilation Kingdoms - I'll be honest, I never played, it, but it got slaughtered in reviews.

Sonic 3D. You thought 16-bit Sonic was always good? Think again.

Crazy Taxi 3. Way to spoil everything that was good about the first game, Sega!

Splinter Cell Conviction, I suppose... although I did quite enjoy it.

Golden Axe 2. A crummy game that was worse in every way than the original. Golden Axe 3 was surprisingly good, though.

Monkey Island 4. Jesus wept.

Empire Total War, it was broken when it came out and did not enjoy having to turn down every country offering to buy my territory every single turn.

Oh, so many... (I, too, love FF VIII as the best of the post-sprite age, brethren).

Metroid: Other M
Zelda (excluding CDi): The Oracles games, Skyward Sword (Enough with the damn remote-swinging, kthxbye).
Mario: Super Mario Sunshine
Final Fantasy: I want to say VII or X, but then I remembered X-2 (AFAIC, the series ended at X-2)
Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen II (RRRRAGE)
Kingdom Hearts: The black sheep because it's the only GOOD game in the series.

You, sir, are wrong there. As a nostalgic fanboy of the actual Crash games, anything past Warped (or CTR, if you count spinoffs) does not include Crash but some stupid orange poser who took his name and face.
I never said it was good but twinsanity was the last playable one that didn't make you want to cry upon booting it up the last good one was warped and maybe at a loooooong stretch wrath of cortex

Ultima IX. With a bullet. It's not even a "black sheep" so much as an evil, series destroying sheep. With leprosy.
Have to agree with this. Although the reasons it was so awful were many and varied. They were detailed quite heavily at Hardcore101 : http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/ultima/ultima10.htm

The 10 is the page number, not them getting the numeric wrong :p

Other than that I shall utter the bane of Tomb Raider: Angel Of Darkness, hsssssssss.

Kingdom Hearts Recoded: A lazy retread of the first game which doesn't even bother to advance the main plot.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Not bad, but not so great either. I expected more after Snake Eater.

Halo 3 ODST: One of the laziest cash ins I've ever seen. I was done with Bungie after that.
With your avatar, I thought for sure you were going to say Twisted Metal: Black. It would be both ironic and honest at the same time.

I am going to have to say Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts. It's not a bad game, but it just doesn't feel like a Banjo-Kazooie title.

Really? Twisted Metal Black was my favorite game in the series. I think the black sheep would be either the third or the fourth one.

Star Fox Command- single handedly began the doom of the franchise. Haven't had one game since. Focused too much on the plot rather than the gameplay, which it ruined completely. Seriously, all the levels were the same. Why make a game with 9 endings, with at least 4 of which suck completely? The community has hated it so much, it may be rendered non-canon; that is, if Nintendo ever breathes life back into this amazing franchise. I weep for what once was. Barrel rolls forever.

Assassin's Creed, it's got a great story, and it introduced me (and everyone) to an exciting world, but the original, boy it's not the greatest!
Same hare, a lot of holes in the gameplay but the story and the framing were good.
