So i picked it up new today and I'm loving just about everything this game has. A fighting game with a decent story, amazing visuals, well-done character balancing, truly unqiue characters, LAG FREE online battles and a cool soundtrack. A few bits are annoying me, like the cat-girl's claw atatck spam and one character being able to drain 1/6 of your health with just a throw move, but a game cannot be truly perfect.

So, what do you think of it?

I have a lot of fun with it. Most of my fighting experience is SF Tekken or SC, so the fighting system took a little getting used to, but man, it's a deep and fun fighter.

It;s a good game but I realized after a few weeks that I didn't like anyone in the cast. The effort on the story is commendable for a fighting game as well.

I generally dislike conventional fighting games (i.e Street Fighter), but I love Blazblue and its oozing style, along with the fact that I could actually get the hang of a fighter for once.

On a more perverse note, Noel confirms my fetish for cute girls in somewhat poofy hats or berets.

It's really fun but bad if you're trying to show your friend.

I just ended up being 10x better than any contenders.

Still, I'm trying to do Score Attack with my favourite character and I'm failing badly.

The ironic thing about conventional fighters is that they're designed for multiplayer and yet are one of the least accessible genres out there (barring really complex niche strategy games), what with the button combinations you need to know, systems, and all that. I absolutely needed the training mode in Blazblue to mess around and figure out the attacks.

Basically, the best party fighters are Melee and Brawl.

Yeah, and Soul Calibur 4.

I found it accessible, anyway.

I'd play for ages then invite my friend over and he'd kick my ass royally.

I'm not ordinarily into fighting games as much as I use to. The one that sells it for me nowadays has to be a cut above the rest. So, you take the brainchild of the same guys who made Guilty Gear - with a new world, characters, and plot - and...yeah, you got me. The controls are hard to manage sometimes, but I won't change 'em from standard for one very good reason. Any time I'm playing with others, it's better to keep 'em de-customized so that everyone is on equal standing. In any case, this game is equal-parts funny, creepy, and awesome.

I'm not usually into fighting games, I found them boring and trite after so many fights, but BlazBlue kicks that idea in the ass.

I love the combination of 2D characters and 3D environments, creative characters and an interesting storyline that appeals to me more than some of the more mainstream action games.

I suspect that's partly the reason home console fighting games exist.

I'm in the minority of people that did not like it. I didn't find the characters interesting, the story was too similiar to your typical anime story arcs. I didn't play it for long so I can't really remember enough about the actual fighting system to criticize it, I just remember not liking it, but I had it for maybe two days before I returned it. Obviously, it's a good game, ratings are way too high across the board from critics, I just could not get into it.

Having played just about every fighter out there I can say without a doubt that Blazblue and Guilty Gear are my favorite fighters of all time. From the sound track to the variety of characters to the mind bottling story to the replayability it has me on every level. Me and my buddy going head to head never ever ever gets old. TAOKAKA CANNOT BE STOPPED.

I loved Guilty Gear, and I love BlazBlue.
Especialy since half the cast is an expy of someone from GG.
Either way, it's a great fighter (and I bloody love fighters) with tons of style.
I still need to pick up the PS3 version.

I loved it from day one and was able to pick it up and learn increasingly quick. The learning curve wasn't as steep for me as some other people seeing as I own, loved, and played Guilty Gear long before the game came out. It's pretty much a reworked and slightly slower Guilty gear but that's not a really bad thing, its pacing was good for the action it offered.

I have the PSP version so I can play it on the go and I have a um..."pre-release" copy of Continuum Shift on my PC which runs perfectly fine....too bad the D-pad on my controller SUCKS. So yea...I love the game along with some other fighters, I just get so addicted to these games when i get them.

So while we are on the subject of the game, who's every ones favorite characters? My main is Haku-men...because he is awesome. I typically use Ragna, Jin, Rachel, a bit of Nu as well when I'm not kicking ass with the White death.

.........Since when have fighting games ever been about story? Story mode if just there to give characters some personality and get you used to the game, nothing more. Seriously, I can't help but laugh my self till I'm almost dead when I hear people complain about STORY in a FIGHTING GAME.

I'm pretty sure it's one of the most original stories out there.
Well considering I had it for so short a time, I didn't "unlock" the whole story. Maybe it had better points.
