From the end of the story with mention of a rival sniper it looks like they are setting up a modern day sequel to enemy at the gates.
I'd watch it.
So would i, but the best shot could be a bit boring if there is nothing but sand and 2 miles away a tiny tiny speck that just goes splat. The rest of it sounds awesome though.
Hey, if you get Quentin Tarantino to direct it you would still get a pretty noticable blood spray from 2 miles away.
Thats sorted then, the next film by Quentin Tarantino is about a sniper in the middle east.

World record for sniping... no wonder people are complaining soldiers treat war like a videogame. This guy just got top score.

I was reading his quotes in my head with a badass, Price-like accent.

Then I read he was from Gloucestershire.
...Could have been worse...could have been Norfolk or Liverpool
Hey!
I'm from Liverpool and I have almost no accent at all. We don't all sound like cats being murdered you know!
All right... calm down.
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA- Oh wait a second, that's not funny.

My SAS is as good as yours.
Dude, that statement is completely unsupported by facts. Also, I wasnt just talking about the SAS... although they are bloody brilliant at what they have to do.
I know I'm just being immature for entertainment sake. As for skill they would be about the same since the training and entry requirements are pretty similar to each other anyway.

Ugh. You people make me sick.

If he had done that anywhere other then Afghanistan you'd all be denouncing him as a murderer.

But no, because he did it in the land-of-people-it-is-officially-okay-to-kill we should all be congratulating him on his marksmanship.

Oh hey, I hear that the Washington snipers [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_sniper] were pretty good shots too. Definitely should of got medals.

You can't 'murder' another soldier during a war. Look at the law, it's right there.

While the SASR are quite good, once again I dont think they can hold a candle to the SAS... main reason, the SAS have been known to train other forces from around the world. As far as I have seen the SASR have not been asked to do so, the very fact that the SAS are teaching other special forces puts them leaps and bounds ahead of the rest.

Did you guys know about Simo Hayha before the cracked article? There's bound to be better snipers somewhere in history... only they were so awesome they were never found.

Kudos to that guy, though. I have enough problems at short ranges...
There are plenty who are well known, if you do the right reading. Like Carlos Hathcock, a US Marine in Vietnam. Before Furlong and now Harrison, Gunnery Sergeant Hathcock set the record for distance kill using, get this, a scoped Browning M2 .50cal machine gun with tripod that he'd carry instead of his rifle.

He obviously glitched his way to the top of the leaderboard.
Bet he no-scopes a lot too when he's not haxoring.

Seriously thats a pretty good shot, and to pull it off twice in a row without missing is something.

Yup, as soon as there's something else to kill. At the moment it's just us and animals.

Hey, he used a cheat code.

But in all seriousness, I still don't support the war in Afghanistan, but this guy must some sort of supreme human.... from Gloucestershire.

Now imagine what our troops could do if we actually GAVE THEM DECENT KIT.
You think he'd have been able to do that with the older L96 rifles? I'm not an expert, but from what I can gather the (relatively) new rifle he was using fired a .338 round, which are more effective at longer ranges.

I still say the most awesome sniper was the guy in WW2 who fought off the Russians, forget his name. Used iron sights and racked up over 700 kills.
Simo Hayha was his name, defending the wonderland of Finland with a Mosin-Nagant was his game.
