The City nearest to you has just been nuked.

I live about 20 miles away from a large population center. Thankfully, I'd be safe from the blast, but the radiation would get me, and I'd be fucked.

Hey, maybe I'd get superpowers! That'd be pretty sweet.

If we're using the New Jersey definition of the City (i.e. Manhattan), I should be far enough away to survive initially (take that Hoboken).

The worst part going to be driving to Pennsylvania to find civilization. How backwards is that. Amiright? Well, that or radiation sickness. It's pretty close.
Totally agree with you on that, especially since there is a few hills in the way to block the blast, if I still lived there. My family would be fine though

I live in Tokyo so... fucked? You'd probably need 2-4 nukes to take out Tokyo and the 23 wards, not to mention saitama, chiba, and kanagawa. If your just talking about main Tokyo (i.e. just inside the Yamanote line) then slightly less fucked at home vs. school, but the topology might save me in both cases, unless its an airburster.

However, if I do live I should be fine. Japan knows how to rebuild and with the loss of the current politicians would be very helpful (old and stodgey, refuse to get with the times, same as everywhere in the world right). Outside of disaster relief, if we are talking world nukage, all society bye, bye? I'd be fine, make my way to the mountains here (which is where I want to retire) and live off my Boy Scout/ outdoor skills. No longer see family/friends unless I can find usable boats to commandeer.

well unless it was a first generation Nuclear bomb I'd probably be toasty, or atleast horribly irradiated the city next to mine is just across a bridge.

The nearest city to me is literally 2 miles away so if they get nuked, so do I. So I'd be screwed.

I would move back to my home town and transfer universities to a different city. Also, I would mourn the death of several friends and family members.
Edit: I find it funny how almost no one actually read the op. HE SAYS YOU SURVIVE. Seriously the majority of these answers are just people saying they are dead. Don't be so damn lazy. It's not like he posted a wall of text.

Schist. I'm on the border of Edmonton. I'll survive the nuking, but I'm getting out of here QUICK.

Considering i live smack in the middle of the city center of a metro area of about 1 million people. Pretty much my entire neighborhood and everything within a few miles is going to be totally vaporized. Finding food and water is going to be a struggle.

On the upside, i'll likely end up with some crazy mutation/superpower from the asinine amount of radiation i'll be exposed to. Plus since everything will be leveled it'll make getting around pretty easy.

Assuming the nuke hits dead center of that city? I'm debating feeling a little relieved or worried. On one hand, someone just nuked the c*** out of us. On the other, they just performed a cleansing of the CDC's entire virus stockpile...
The closest major city to me (I'm assuming the nuke is on a major city, anything else would leave most of us as nuke fodder) has its center about 40 miles away from me. I'd be a relatively safe distance away, although we still might leave the area for a little while. I just hope a lot of people plan on flight delays (oh, and they missed the coke factory, so we will be fine). For those who can't tell, I'm from the lost city of Atlanta.

"Little boy" in the middle of Dekalb, according to Ground Zero II I am just at the edge of the outermost thermal circle, a bit further in on the outermost pressure wave, and all I have to do is go a mile or so uproad to avoid the fallout.
I'm pretty optimistic. Of course anything even slightly slightly bigger would completely screw me over.

Wow i've never heard of that website! Amazing. According to ground zero 2 even a Hiroshima sized bomb (ie. very small) smacks me right into the "conflaguration" zone. 10+ PSI means even if my building was earthquake proof (it isn't) it would be utterly demolished. And i get a delightful 500-800 REMs of radiation, which is apparently enough to melt my bone marrow. Lovely.

Time to go try a bigger bomb :)

I'd be alive, although I'd have to move out because fallout would get me within the week. The bigger concern to me is the fact that the nearest city to me is Washington, DC. I can't imagine the shitstorm that would happen if THAT particular city was nuked.

I would die from the blast/shockwave/fallout

If it was a few cities over maybe I would be able to just relocate before the radiation melts me.
