the MK28 would singe my house, and the tsar bomba would blow it away. not sure how I would be affected by the fallout though, not sure exactly how far reaching the radiation would be.

Assuming capital cities, the closest city is Adelaide.

I'm in Perth. It sucks, I've no family, only friends there, but it will be really shit because there's a fuck load of people and it's a nice place to visit.

If Rockingham, Midland, Joondalup, Morley, Armadale etc all count as cities. I'd be even more fucked. I'd be dead depending on the size of the bomb used, and likely very sick regardless.

Well im a 5 min drive from downtown so... i would die, but to stay OT i would need to move asap, as most of the places i live around would be gone and radiated.

I'm in a city so I'd be dead. I hope I die in the blast and not slowly from radiation should I happen to be hiding in a sub-basement somewhere when it goes off.

Is Newcastle A city?

Either way im screwed if the bomb lands anywhere in Northen England since were not the largest country
I was so happy when you said New Castle, but it turns out you meant the one in England not the US.

OT: Either I'd be fucked, but at least all those cake eaters get whats coming to them.
And I was happy when you both mentioned Newcastle as well...but not the one in Australia.

OT: yeah, pretty fucked. I live in a pretty nice suburb [3km from the nearest beach] but the centre of the city is only 5km away.

Well I would be a pile of radioactive ash now then, since I am in school atm. Almost at the center of this small town we call Turku.

Well apparently I would be safe if a little-boy or a Fatman would detonate middle of the town. The minimal blast radius I just 500 meters away from my school, and many kilometers away from my home. But all the bridges over the river would be gone so getting home might be hard. But if they would use Tsar-bomba or MK28 then the whole rregion would be turned to ash, that would include 5 towns along with mine and a imprtant railroad connection + important shipping lane and a highway.

Oh well..

Shoot, that post by Da Orky Man was SWEET. Guess I'm actually pretty well off; if they drop it dead center of the city with up to a 400 kt nuke, they still JUST MISS the major military base, they only take out around 1 - 2 thousand people, plus any vehicle traffic in the area (that still sucks, but in comparison to what COULD happen?), they don't quite reach my father's business, and they won't get anywhere near me or anyone I know. Victory! Additionally, a rapid military response would be pretty immediate, so, extra victory!

I'd be killed by either the effects of the blast, or ass-raped by radiation. Closest city directly from where I live is less than a ten minute drive. And the rest of New Zealand would be pretty bad off as well.

Well, the nearest town to me is still not far enough off that I woulnd't be affected by around 99% of the blast.

Boise, ID has just been attacked with a nuclear bomb the size of Hiroshima's? I would probably be needing to get the hell out of dodge before fallout sets in. Somewhere downwind would be nice. I'm basically a transient as it is, so I'm sure my life wouldn't be impacted too drastically.

Well the absolute closest city to me would be Perth, Western Australia. That's where I live.
Otherwise, I guess it would have to be either Melbourne or Adelade or somewhere up north, either way if they got nuked it would be tragic, but I wouldn't be effected.

What would I do? Die of radiation poisoning within half a year. But before that I'd... well, cough up blood and exhibit symptoms of radiation poisoning. I don't think it would be a good time for me.

City in which sense? Sizable population, or major metropolitan area?
well if it is considered a city by your government, alternatively you could just talk about this as your country or state capital, whatever works for you.
XD. I was going to say I'd be dead, but then I noticed this. Even though the population of where I live is in the region of 150,000-250,000 ... It's still classed as being a 'town' rather than a city.

The nearest place that's officially considered a city... Well, I'm not entirely sure, but if I'm guessing correctly, it's 25 miles away.

That puts me... At around the outer limits of the area that would be directly affected by the radiation. Probably just outside of it.

Long-term effects are probably going to be relatively bad.

On the other hand, the dangers of nuclear fallout aren't nessesarily as bad as people think. A bomb is a very bad case, but realistically, the overall effects aren't going to be huge unless you're relatively close to the bomb blast.

Probably a far bigger, and more immediate concern, if this were to happen, is why did someone nuke a nearby city in the first place? What do they want? And what else are they going to do?
