The Coolest Ending to a Video game. (Classic or Current) [SPOILERS]

I would say that HL2 and episodes 2 + 3 have some of the best endings in a game and they are my favorite by far. It's not a cinematic but it's a scene where you can't do anything. To me it's playing a cinematic which give it more fear and emotion when you see what happens in each one.

And this is why what's been revealed about Max Payne 3 makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Especially when you consider there's an alternate ending on the hardest difficulty. It's like they were half done some other game and then were told they had to make it about Max Payne.

I loved the ending to BioShock 2, honestly. It definitely made up for all the flaws I was seeing in the game. I wanted to comment on how a lot of it felt shoveled in and that there were about 3 times when I thought I had won then to come back and have to go do a fetch quest but it was so intense and beautiful that I shut myself up and just enjoyed the game. I felt like they should have just taken the ending of BioShock 2 and spread it out to make it the full game.

The ending to Metroid, mainly because at that time none of us could believe a woman could be the lead in a video game.

ETA: not that she *couldn't* be, but more like "wow a game company actually broke the mold?!"

Mass Effect series always have good endings. The other one that immediately comes to mind is the evil ending of KOTOR. You take control of the Star Forge and create an empire with your infinite army. Anyone who hasn't played KOTOR should go out and play it now!
