The curious case of Devil May Cry

My one big complaint about the Devil May Cry series, is that it had identical plots for the first three games. Some evil asshole tries to open the door to the demon world, Dante meets a mysterious female that happens to be a creation of said evil asshole, and Dante always has a moment that's a little embarrassing to the player...

I do see where you're coming from with the DB and fighting in general in DMC4. They could done more to balance it and make it more fun to use but becuase it was such a radical change to combat it changed how the game worked. I think if they tinked with it they could bring it more in line with the rest of the abilities in the series.

Yes he did and once again I kinda like the new kid as they provide a nice contrast to the old timer but that is just me.

I do see the point you are right with how it broke the combat but that is because it was such a radical change with the pulling effect as it allowed you to juggle enemies so much easier in the air and yoyo them on the ground. I don't agree with the taking it out but have it made into its own style like Gunslinger and balancing it a bit more. I knwo you didn't get to it but I do think if you still have to game to maybe be patient and wait until you can play as Dante as I thought the seemless change from Swordmaster to Gunslinger or Royal Guard or Trickster was brilliant. It to me added a new dimension to combat making it more twitchy and exciting to build up massive combos with the sword the blast around with the guns then shotgun only to jump and dash away to set up a powerful sword move.

Yes MGS fans did hate Raiden I however, liked them both. Who knows they may completely change his character and make him more likeable to the mass. I think we all know the massive changes Dante's character has been through over the years.

And yes, Metal gear Rising is ripping off Metal gear solid and Warcraft 3 ripped off starcraft!
I agree with you until this part, here you get a little retarded.
That part you just quoted was a joke man, satirizing someone elses comment, i didn't mean it as serious xD

It isn't a matter of patience. It is a matter of me not having fun playing the game. Your argument is like someone saying "I get to punch you in the face for 5 minutes as much and as hard as I want. After those 5 minutes I will give you a lollipop". I don't regret not going through the boring bits to get to the enjoyable parts. I am not going to sit though what feels like 5-8 hours to get what I wanted/expected.

Hey, the nerdiest thing I have ever done is discuss the next potential Star Trek series with my Father. "The Federation Warship Rapture", nice...

While Nero wasn't too great a character he did have some awesome moments. And frankly I almost preferred playing as him to Dante in 4. From what I understand 4 is supposed to take place between 1 and 2, yet Dante has the personality of his 20 year old self from 3. Hated it, hated it hated it.

You're completely correct about timings. However, the devs realised that Dante in 3 was the most popular he's been. They wanted to keep that.
Dante in 4 has the personality of 3 but with a few more intelligent lines and a few less wisecracks.

Get over it, get over it, get over it.
But for the hell of it, let's address that. How is his personality "mature" and what-not in the first one?

Since when was DMC ever about killing stuff with one attack? That just isn't stylish! Also, for the people saying Nero has no stylish moves, mixing the busters, snatches, sword attacks, and instant revs, and exceeds create some incredibly stylish combos.

Also, Vergil WAS in DMC4...I though that was obvious =/

I think we're looking at the intelligence angle here. In 3 his lines were all smart-ass insults and jokes at his enemies. In 1 he at least had some serious dialogue which doesn't appear in 3 until the final scenes.

On the Vergil front, if you're referring to the shadow of Nelo Angelo that appears when you enter DT as Nero, I'm not sure that counts as a proper appearance... :p

It's not Virgil without a big blue coat and spiky hair.

Well it's pretty much Vergil to me, you know, seeing as Nero is his demon seedling.
