....... Really? In order to be able to get the demo you either have to have bought the GOTY edition of Borderlands or preordered it?

So, fuck the people who supported Borderlands on release date and bought each DLC at full price, eh?

Gearbox, I am extremely disappoint.
Get used to it. The Demo is terrible.

This is total BS.

Pre-ordered, got no code. Went back to Game today and they don't know anything about any codes.

It's a DEMO. Do they want to sell the damn game or not? Idiots.

No wonder it took them so long to make it.

Gamestop is completely sold out of the Balls of Steel Edition, so I'd say that they're selling the game just fine. Not that I agree with not even giving a date for the public release of the demo, but you know.

It's still a bizarre decision on principle. I mean the purpose of a demo is to promote and sell the game, not restrict it to people who are already going to buy it.

Why limit it? I don't get it.

Righto, time to ring up EB Games and ask for my code.
I fear it may be a US only thing. I ore-ordered the game at an EB here (New Zealand), and they said they had no idea what I was talking about.

Myself playing, complete with some commentary. I thought it was aweful, as you'll find by watching, but I encourage you to form your own opinion.

Meh. The demo was too short to make a solid conclusion. The gunplay was fun enough, but oh god the graphics. The game runs on DirectX 9 for crying out loud. It looks like it's 5 years old. I expected more from such a hyped up demo. I'm interested in seeing more of the game, but not enough to buy it at full price.

Rang up EB Games and they said they were waiting for me to come in and grab the code. Don't know why you didn't get it.

You know what's funny? I pre-ordered the Balls of Steel edition for my PS3 but I'm downloading the demo for my Xbox.

demo was great, too short though. little disapointed they had to appeal to the current gamer market by including recharging health and only 2 weapons!! but beyond that its badass :D

It's only taken Gearbox 18months since they got a hold of it.

For all their many (many, many) faults, Gearbox have the irritating habit of getting shit done on time. Don't know what they're playing at with the demo though, maybe they only have limited bandwidth or are just certifiably insane.

Cancelled my preorder due to the demo.

I found the canyon section to be rather ugly, and while the gameplay was midly enjoyable, it did not really excite me that much. I've got nothing against old-school and all, but for that i'd rather play something more exciting and spectacular like Painkiller.

The Duke has some things going for it, but unless you are actually a fan who really honestly did wait for that thing since the last century, or really like to game like 10 years ago, it's not enough to compete against the masses of decent-at-least shooters.

I played the demo on PC and it disappointed me.
I'm an old Duke fan and I waited 11 years for that game, but truth must be spoken.

First of all,the graphics are BAD. Worse than I expected. The game's textures are not all in the same resolution and it soon become obvious that the game has changed so many states, because while you will see that some textures are OK for modern games, some are worse than the first games that came out on this console generation. With so little detail and blurry, they look like past console generation graphics. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess actually had better quality textures in some cases.
There is also TOO MUCH BLUR in the graphics.
The game emulates the eye disease of Myopia really good.
That means everything some meters away from you starts to get really blurry.
It was hard to see pig cops shooting at me from far away at the canyon because of BLUR.

Regarding sound,it seems that the actors should do more recordings.
You will hear the same lines of dialogue and sound effects over and over.
Duke Nukem 3d had 5 or 6 different 'jump' sounds that played randomly when you jumped.
DNF has only one. The npcs will keep saying the same lines again and again and again "get out of here stalker" style.

Regarding gameplay,things are like this:
Guns are not balanced. The railgun is the best option and makes most other weapons like ripper, shotgun, shrinker etc useless.
It's a one hit killer, its fire rate is faster than you would expect, and it's easy to hit an enemy without using the scope faction. Imagine the pistol with a different skin and one hit killing bullets.
I felt VERY constraint moving around the world. The jump is really low and Duke can't even jump up on a rock that is tall as his knee in contrast with Duke 3d where you could jump at the second floor from the first floor.
When the ground has some slight angle, you can't walk up there. Invisible walls everywhere.
Duke can't even get inside the jacuzzi in the first level because of invisible walls..
The "extraordinary high levels of interactivity" is bull***t.
I've seen far more and better interactivity in Half Life 2,Red Faction and Wolfenstein (2009).
Yeah, you can turn on or off the shower, but since Duke can't get a shower and there is no dialogue line or any animation of him having a shower, what's the point ?
It's something you will do once or twice to see what will happen if you press E when the message "press E" appears on your screen and won't do again.
Unfortunately the game doesn't have a "SAVE" option and doesn't allow you to save when you want, but it has checkpoints. That means you will loose lives and have to redo things you already done, again and again. I played on medium difficulty and I can say that the game seems hard at first but becomes very easy fast. While you walk 4 pigs will appear out of nowhere have you trapped and you die. After you die you know where and when the pigs will appear, and you go prepared and pass it like a picnic. It's trial and error.
Now there are some puzzles that require you to think, but the game babysit you and if you stay too much on a room without doing what you are supposed to do,the item or something that you are supposed to interact with will start flashing glowing light which is like a way for the game to yell "hello!! here is what you are supposed to come and push 'E' to interact with" and spoils the puzzle.
Some enemies disappear when they die in a bad way. There was a huge dropship shooting at me and after I shot it with my rocket launcher some times,it disappeared in an explosion. No wreckage falling down or debris flying around.

The demo felt like a pre-beta build.
I really hope the final game is FAR BETTER than this.
If not, then I'm sorry to see another of my favorite old franchises being destroyed.

What others said, canceled my preorder with no trouble. Sadly I was really looking forward to this. I seriously hope that maybe the demo wasn't a good example of the game, but either way I cannot risk a preorder now for a game that might or might not be good.

I was excited a bit then I read you need to pre-order it. Paying for a demo isn't that great in my mind.

well waste of time, video ended up being too long.

Edit: Currently working on uploading shorter snipits, I don't remember ever having a 15 min limit.
