The Gamespot editors are struggling to find good things to see about Ubisoft's conference.
One would wonder why they even tried. I mean, it's putting makeup on a pig. A rancid, gutted pig.

I agree on your general consensus of E3, you have done a terrific job of presenting it to the Escapist, props to you.
Thanks! I was trying to make a thread to help ease up on the inevitable rush of E3 threads by mentioning as much of the news as possible. While that didn't really work, I'm glad how it turned out: it's a nice summary, and most people seem to have found it amusing.

I've had a ton of fun with keeping this thread up to date, and thrilled with how well it has been recieved by the community. And in case you all are wondering: I call dibs on remaking this thread for next year. Creator's rights :D

You can paint shit silver, but it's still shit at the end.

I'm just going to stand by my belief that Heavy Rain was the greatest thing shown at E3 this year, with Last Guardian a close 2nd, Milo third, and God of War 3 as the 4th place.

Thats my opinion. I'm sticking to it. I'd slay you all for a free copy of heavy rain even in it's current state.
And since I have no friends, last guardian and milo should fill that empty spot in my heart.

God of war is for when I want to feel like a man after hanging out with a virtual 10 year old and a japanese demon-chicken all day.

Hmmmm. One of those things does not seem to belong, but I'm stumped!

As far as the Go! goes (see what I did there?), I can't say I'm terribly impressed. Ah well, I'm just sort of bitter that it wasn't something more like a PSP2. Odds are the Go! will turn out to be a decent addition to the PSP lineup.

I actually like the design, but I feel like I've grown out of portables. I used to use my gameboy alot, but mostly when I was on trains, buses, planes, foreign nations when I was little. The thing is the DS is just a portable suited for those things more than the psp. Plus its got mario and Pokemon, so I'd rather get the DS

(Yes, yes I did)

Wow. The PSP Go is a game? I thought it was a portable.

I definitely didn't pay attention to the press conference.

Assassin's Creed 2: Why didn't Ubisoft show this at their conference? This demo was incredible: displaying double assassinations, flight, swimming, and even disarming opponents.
I think they announced it during the sony conference for the same reason World at War 2 was announced at the microsoft conference, because there will be some platform exclusive content on the playstation that will be tied into the assassin's creed psp game, just as in world of war 2 there are going to be microsoft specific map packs. Though, it would have helped ubisoft's conference significantly if they had announced it there. I guess there really isn't as much at stake for publisher conferences as there are for the platform conferences. Seems kind of backwards doesn't it?

First of all, thanks to the OP for such an exhaustive summary.

Golden Sun DS: ABOUT TIME YOU PRICKS! While it didn't look as slick as the KH game, I'll be damned before I mark it down for that.
Agreed. Been waiting for this for a loooooooooooong time.

Super Mario Galaxy 2: SO. MUCH. WIN.
+1.

If it's anything like the original, it will be kick-ass. Although I was ready to throw the Wii out the window after the 100's of attempts at Luigi's Purple Coins.

Red Steel 2: The trailer had a really nice feel to it. The gameplay looks fun, but at the same time a bit unweildly. The guy that was commenting during the gameplay was ANNOYING. Couldn't they have gotten anyone else to talk during it?
Is there MotionPlus integration with this? The first game was atrocious.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii: 4 player co-op and coin battling competition has me psyched.
+1

At last, there looks to be some decent Wii games on the horizon. I may have to stop using the machine as a doorstop.

Also, can't wait for Modern Warfare 2. The reveal trailer was one of the finest game trailers I have ever seen.

My 2 cents:

I think Microsoft won in the software category. Project Natal is impressive. Yet, it would've impacted more had they done it live instead with a video I believe. Imagine if Milo reacted to the amount of people in the conference room. That would've just taken everyone's breath away.

Sony takes the games category. They performed live demos for most of their products instead of just pre-recorded demos. The trailers they also released were very well made (Last Guardian anyone?). I didn't care for the PSP lineup, but a Hannah Montana skin for the PSP. Really?

Nintendo was the underdog who I was hoping would show a sparkle of light. They did with the Mario 4D game. That's good. Then they go into Wii Mo +, a James Patterson adaptaion for the DSI, Petz and whole bunch of other casual gamer crap. It's as if Metroid and Mario were only afterthoughts. I think honestly Nintendo has been so successful in the casual gamer demo, that that's where they will be from now on.

Really? I thought that was the weakest part of the demonstration: while it looked neat, it also felt... scripted somehow. Hopefully the people who got a special demo of it will think otherwise.

Snip on AC2.
Those were my thoughts exactly, but damn Ubisoft, didn't you realize that was one of the only good parts to your conference? Sheesh. They should have had a lot more, and the fact that their best item was redone a thousand times better by another conference.... as I said before: LAAAAAAAAME.

First off, you're welcome, though it's not over yet thanks to olivera :D

I agree: the Wii seems to have been given a lot of games that will appear to the core fans this time around. Also, the mention of lots of user-generated-content has me enthused.
