better combat system, i know its tough in a game with that many things in it to make a good combat system thatll keep in interesting but come on, pull R trigger to kill... unfun
more detailed magic effects, it seemed like they used the same like... five effects for all the magic? Wizard's Fury coulda been a lot better with it being fire ice and lightning damage then just being a ray of lightning
better npc interaction, it seemed everyone in Tamriel knew the same like twenty rumors, does nothing exciting ever happen in that place?

by the way, i'm not hatin on Oblivion, i loved the game, spent hundreds of hours on it, but after looking back on it, it seems rather dull for how awesome it is

the ability to clib treees and walls (thief like)
Yea that was actually one big thing that i was thinking. Like how awesome would it be to walk into a forest and see like a woodelf high up in a tree aiming a bow at you. Something like that would definately make this game even better.

Also something i would like to see is better movement. I thought that the movement in oblivion was rather slow and clumsy.

More realistic combat. If you shoot someone in the head with an arrow, they should die. if you slice their throat, they should die. the same should be for your character; if you get shot in the head or sliced in the throat you should lose some extra health. They should kind of bring anatomy in this like if you cut a specific body part or something idk just something to think about.

More diverse fighting. When you swing your sword its the same movement EVERY time. it made the combat rather bland and boring.

I definately agree with more detailed environments and caves etc. everything sort of ran together after going in a few dungeons or forts.

Definately better weapons. Most of the weapons got boring and i just didnt like any of them. There should be a lot more rare items like weapons or armor that would make the game funner to explore and try to find these things.

Maybe stop the leveling of NPC's and enemies when you level. If your a high level badass then you should be able to pwn anyone who gets in your way. although just to make it a little more of a challenge maybe slowly introduce better enemies as you level but not a ridiculous amount although oblivion sort of had this.

More races and better customizing

More clothes and clothes that actually look good when you wear it. Most of the clothes and armor in my opinion looked really ugly and i never wanted to wear any of it.

Make sneaking and assassinating actually useful in the game. More assassins and maybe bring in some sort of "ninja" form.

Also maybe make some throwing knives or poison tipped darts

These are just a few ideas
Lol, way to bring up an old old old thread. Also I would like to see bethesda get some animators that aren't 4 generations behind modern animation. Its all so stocky and unbelievable. (eg. WET, Fallout 3, Oblivion.) Like everyone is a robot.

What i want to see is less bloody paranoid guards who try to kill you for stealing 'a spoon', i was trying to pick up a dagger that the quest TOLD me to pick up and the next thing i knew, "STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM", damn imperial guards were a nuisance...

Honestly the only things I want to see are better levelling up (xp please instead of that shitty skill bases system) and to stop the guards being telepathic.

Oblivion is one of my favourite ever games, if TES V is anything like it we'll be in for a treat. Also Shivering Isles = Best DLC ever. (Horse Armor = Worst DLC ever)

Better AI, bigger monsters, crossbows and a better melee combat, I would like it to be like Condemned where you can counter enemies etc

were do i start. i love the elder scrolls but i think some things have to change. like fast travel should be like it is in fallout. can only travel to some where you found. and one thing i found annoying in oblivion is the dungeons there about a million of them and 14 might contain something unique and interesting. so more unique and interesting. keep all the guilds and add a new one for good measure. for those who say were wolves that wouldn't make sense because there is no blood moon happening. and with the guild quests you should be able to choose to betray the guilds at some point. the environments should have more unique locals so that there is more incentive to explore. i also think a tighter combat system. like less health and increased damage so combat is just as challenging but you don't get bogged down swinging at a storm atronarch for about an hour. that's pretty much it. believe me when i say i love elder scrolls and have hurt people who disagreed. i also really like fallout 1, 2 and 3 but i hate tactics and BOS. thats it and feel free to send me hate-mail

Varied and interesting locations.
Combat on Horse-back.
Cooler looking staves.
More voice actors.
No telepathic gaurds.
Better magic system (I'm level 100 in destruction but I have to buy new spells, why can't I learn spells on my own?)
More items (books and weapons/armor.)

That's just a few I want to see.

I think guns would make it better. But then again, I think guns would make everything better.

I was pretty happy with Oblivion. Had one or two gripes though, for started the levelling needs to be fixed. I would seriously rather NOT have to precision plan my sleep for efficient skill leveling, just so I don't get raped by a fucking rat. Also something HAS to be done about the NPCs!

Fast traveling should be removed so players have to actually engage in the world at least in the early stages perhaps a mid/high range spell that allows teleportation could be introduced to speed the game up in the later stages. fast travelling made horses pointless i never bought one they where too expensive considering they had no use!

Dragons is a must, dragon hunting quests perhaps- it would be nice to come across creatures that you genuinely cant beat on your own until you are high level, skinning for dragon armor, dragon mounts perhaps.

Make bows a more effective i love the idea but theyr just not effective enough, a shot to the head with an arrow should be fatal!

more variety with weapons and armour re-introduce spears make them throwable this could be a an excellent trainable skill charging at an enemy and launching your spear would be an excellent variation to fighting and fighting on horseback is a must! , make the best armour and weapons more rare and hard to attain highwayman should not be clad in deadric armour! a mistake in oblivion was having the most powerful weapon in the game available to buy instantly! just for the point of it i created a character looted myself a few grand bought Apotheosis from Rindirs staffs in the Imperial city found Umbra jumped up onto the broken pillar so she couldnt attack me and killed her im then wandering round in Umbras ebony armour with the umbra sword at level 1! i dont think i changed my equiptment for the rest of that game!

Fame and Infamy should have more bearing on the game Fable 2 had a decent system that TES could improve on, having followers at your command as you become more famous, starting cults, building an army even, occupying settlemets, invading/overtaking towns, decelerations of war with full on battles between towns would be awesome.

loving the idea of pilotable boats, sea battles, building up a crew and attacking/looting/commandeering other vessels!

more voice actors and more phrases if i hear "id better cut down on the ale starting to see things i am" again im gonna shoot myself in the kidneys

this is my idea of what the game should be it would be great

first over time you get like big armys and massive battle with monsters or others races and when your on the move with the army you can look behind you and there all marching with and you can set up camps and you and your men build them in game time so you would need like supplies wood tools mettal cloth etc oh and you have castles and stuff plus your soldiers can level up to and they get better at fighting and better equipment for them

next the combat i would like to see more combos attacks and attacks using your sheild and mounted combat more spells and the stronger the spells you can see the difference between a weaker one and stronger one

classes you still have the swordsman mage archer but there is different types like a knight barbarian pirate warlock etc...

i think thats it say if you think thats a good idea

I hate the game as much as i like it. It has so much potential, so much was wasted.

- Online coop, like 4-8 players max.

- A game world that makes sense, even if its only cosmetic (trading caravang travelling from town to town, some decent causality for your actions, some bloody common sense for NPC actions ect)

-horseback fighting

-Backpacks, seriously. Maybe just for cosmetic value, but as an adventurer i kinda expect to have one. Oh, and i would like to be able to buy a pack mule/chariot (park it outside and fill it with your excess loot when you are done raiding a place)

-Maybe : cities populated with NPCs that are just there (like assasin's creed).. you know, who wont speak a word to you and walk around doing their thing. SO a capitol can be full of people that run away screaming when you burn it down. I dont really like the way all npcs are important in the game, cities are empty.

-NPCs with more than 5 lines of text, that do more than just wandering around aimlessly and do some actual work (just some animation or whatever to show they are busy.. like carrying boxes/goods from A to B).

-Open world with cities integrated in the maps. Morowind did this IIRC? Only played it briefly.

-improved mod support and mod-tools. I want to mod blaster guns in the game :p .. that way one motivated modder could change the world to fit another setting entirely.

- The ragdoll physiscs is broken; actors FLOAT in midair when they fall. Make them fall down like the 200 pound meatbags they are... and fix the way they keep their hand-held items in their hands even when dead.

Completely re-invented and re-balanced system:
1- The system in oblivion simply sucks. Magic owns.. EVERYTHING, and makes warrior and rogues build absolutely obsolete. You CANT win without magic in that game. Warriors and rogues stop being viable around level 20, where no matter what you do.. ennemies take 10000000 hits to die, and mages are simply superior to you at everything, constantly.

2- being a warrior or rogue should be as effective as a mage in the endgame. Assymetricaly equals.

3- Ennemies should not scale in level with you too much (that glass armor on bandit nonsense).. the OOO mod system worked quite well for this.

4- No skill should ever be useless (there are too many useless skills.. like athletics ect)

5- leveling should NOT be most effective when you metagame and grind (the major-as-minors builds to maximise attribute gains)

6- HP should be given retroactively as you level up. why? Because you gimp your character if you dont maximise Endurance ASAP.. this kind of "must do to not suck" are there only because the game is poorly designed.

7- i would not be against some significantly increased leathality in the game if it means that late ennemies dont need to take a billion arrows/sword blows/fireballs to die. When i sneak up to someone and let lose my top-quality arrow in their skull, i want to see a dead body the next moment.. not a charging, angry imperial soldier with 10% less hp...

-7A- Of course that means that armor should work differently, cuz right now its mostly useless because magical enchantments/spells does it better and at low skills level armor is too weak to be of use.
Maybe armor could give a set damage reduction (like 5)and a percentage of damage mitigation (say 15%).. so an armor like that against a 100 damage blow would first reduce it to 95, then reduce it by 15% to a total of ~85 damage received. Dunno.

8- Menus require too much of clicking useless "okay" buttons, especially when you do something you arent supposed to, just make it a floating text or somethign that dont break the flow.

It would be cool if they made a fear system. For example if you killed five out of six bandits the last one would run away.

Basically, I want the good from Morrowind (RIDICULOUSLY rich and deep story that was relevant to, and taught you about the entire culture and history of Morrowind. Very diverse landscapes and architecture, enemies and shop merchandise not leveling with you) mixed with the good from Oblivion (graphics, draw distance, indefinite running, magic system). Also the Melee combat needs to be seriously revamped so that it's a lot more immersive and interesting. Better voice acting and more actors is great too.
That's what we alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll want.

EDIT: Also, Morrowind skill selection.

Oblivion really was an excellent game and it still remains my number one RPG. Still, they are just so many things that really annoy me and I hope TES V won't make the same mistakes.

- Like many have already said, the game needs more voice actors. It just gets boring when every Argonian you talk to has the same friggin' voice.
- Although the fast travel function has its charm it did make quests too easy. Furthermore, I think the map shouldn't reveal all the important places since it's more fun discovering cities and other stuff on your own.
- Obviously, be more creative with the dungeons.
- Make the wilderness more interesting: I really love the cities in Oblivion. Each one looks different, there are many things to do and you never really get bored. However, being out of the cities running through a forest or a meadow is simply dull. Everything looks the same, there's absolutely nothing to discover and you won't find a single person out there. I really hope that the environments in TES V will be more different.
- A greater variation of weapons and armors. Right now I'm playing an RPG called "Two Worlds". It's a decent game but not nearly as good as Oblivion. However, the number of different weapons and armors is amazing and also highly motivating.
- Furthermore, "Two Worlds" has a great variation of creatures which Oblivion does not.
- Better fighting system, for obvious reasons, in Oblivion it just looks crappy.
- Different looking spells.
- The quests should be more varying. I hate those missions that always consist of the same parts. Talk to person A, go to place A (mostly a dungeon.... -.-), kill person B, go back to person A. There are just a few really awsome quests like "A brush with death" or the one for the dark brotherhood where you are locked in a house with several other persons and one by one you have to kill them without being noticed. THOSE are good missions.
- Away with the stupid level scaling
- Away with the horrible quest markers. When I'm playing an RPG I like to think, I like to discover and not running after a pink or a green point that shows me everything I have to do.
- The characters could use some more depth. I mean seriously, have you grown fond of any of the NPCs? Maybe Martin a litte, but that's it.

Right now, this is all I can think of.
