Theoretically, a mesh network is created when devices communicate with each other and build the network directly peer to peer, there would be no central hub, it was supposed to help fuel the old One Child One Laptop initiative instead of expensive broadband pipes through Africa. Setting one up requires some technical know-how and of course, enough users to withhold the connection.

As for a "Meshnet" to be a back-up plan...well Anon is certainly fuckin' full of itself if they think they can pull that off, nuking for orbit? Someone get the delusions of grandeur out of their heads...although there may not be much else left.

The leader of LulzSec days are numbered (Sabu). he is either going to get intimate with Bubba or pull a Mitnick and run away. If he doesnt meet Bubba in the next week then he is running. regardless its interesting how an IT security consultant can turn and start hacking websites because his customers dont listen, but I think he always was partial to the grey to black choices of hats and pretended to like the white ones.

Anyway...

I have a couple issues with this, and I know they are not going to be terribly popular. first I wish they wouldnt close down and keep on doing what they are doing. I wish they would keep hacking for the lulz and keep on hitting high profile sights then twittering about it.

yes I said that, but for good reason. One is they will now go underground, probably wipe anything to do with LulzSec except the kid in the group that did the majority of the twitter posts who will probably keep using it(stupid kid). they will then reintegrate into Anon and most likely not do more than a DDoS for quite some time and thats incredibly hard to trace. they will not be in the public eye, and that puts less priority and public preasure to take them down by the authorities. less preasure the greater the chance of them slipping away and justice not served. the more they hack as a small group of 6 the more evidence that can be gained and the easier to track compared to an ever changing group like Anon.

I would prefer they kept going until caught and made a mockery of, rather than slip away quietly into the night like a thief.

What does your beloved lulzsec do? I'd rather back actual hacktivist that go after people who legitimately censor information, and oppress their people's ability to use social communication networks, access information deemed "thought crimes", and so forth.

I get that you're convinced that the internet equivalent to spray painting and vandalizing random sites USED by people around the world (which usually make up your supporters) and attacking everyday person or community they claim to be helping who disagrees with their tactics/intentions)is somehow noble and ballzy.

Freedom on the internet and against oppressive government policies? More like stealing, knocking a site down for 2 seconds, and making yourself sound so clever all the while.

I may not agree with the "Internet Brigades" for the Palestinian liberation movement, but their methods are peaceful, that don't steal information from civilians just because they can, and they're not a bunch of loud, obnoxious shitheads who broadcast their minuscule exploits

Also...it's why a lot of these people are ANONYMOUS.... hacktivism only works if you operate under the radar and send the "information" you've found to a source like Wikileaks... which is public and regularly releases statements.

Basicly: they bitchslapped a few companies that did not take proper care with customer data. Making every company on the internet aware that security should be invested in from the start and not just slapped on afterwards.
They still did plenty of douchbag tricks to others though (but that is the entertainment part for me)
