Yoko paused. "I don't think I have plans... But materials, I bet we can scour for some of those."

"We got plenty of steam engines," said John. "They're pretty reliable."

 

[Clockwork Scarecrow.]

Henworth produces a notebook from one of his tool-belts. "Hmmm, the construction would be difficult without the necessary tools and facilities even if we had the plans. As for steam engines, well i have lots of experience with them, but I may be able to salvage a few choice devices from my own machine, provided someone hasn't pilfered them."

He begins doodling designs in his notebook.

Yoko poked her head over Hensworth's shoulder, looking over his designs. "The tricky part is that all Ganmen have a face in the middle of their chests. That might be hard to build."

 

[Clockwork Scarecrow.]

He turns to Yoko. "Is the position of the face a necessary design or purely aesthetic, because I could work around it." He pauses for a moment. "Does it have to look like a human?"

Mancomb had been busy preparing the Monster Truck Pirate Ship to set off for the Treasure of Le Chuck.
"I be Mancomb Seepgood, I hail from Melee Island[sub]TM[/sub] I am a pirate and captain of this vessal" he said.

Yoko paused to think. "Well, Ganmen are typically linked with their user mentally, and the face is used as a symbol. I think. But on the topic of that link... I think a Ganmen might not work after all."

 

[Clockwork Scarecrow.]

"Linked mentally?" He thought about this for a moment. "My word...."

 

[SteakHeart]

"Yeah. See, Ganmen are powered by the willpower of their user. If the user had high willpower, the thing'll work fine. But if the user is feeling scared, it won't work as well," Yoko explained.

"Hm, so what you're saying is if you are reluctant to do something then it will show in your performance. Doesn't seem a good idea, most soldiers are reluctant to kill so a 'Ganmen' in the army would fail unless the user was leaning towards borderline psychotic. But if you need material then you may be able to salvage some controls, electric motors and the skin off bits of the copter. The front engine seems to be relatively fine too."

"Also, I don't know about you guys but I think we should either get moving or build some shelter" Harper nodded at John, "I don't have much experiance about this area, but I would guess that the nights arrive quickly and are frought with bandits or animals?"

~When Huey scanned the mind of the Colour he saw a man who was lonely and emotionally detached from those around him, the dangers of his job. He could see that whilst he was trying to convince himself that he didn't need to change, he wasn't quite managing it. Especially among these other, new and strange people.

Just going to change it to say that CSjt Harper comes from 2009, not 1996. Just so he is still behind Huey's time but I don't have to check that everything I mention was around in 1996. Spoiler: About the mental scan

I'm following example from the Knight of the Old Republic series where Kreia is able to read people's thoughts which she teaches the Exile. I prefer these games to the more mainstream Star Wars stuff since it's not as corny, cheesy and the Force has a more relevant presence. You can say (Jedi Master) Huey learned this ability when he was on Coruscant

With a breath of relief, (Jedi Master) Huey looked up at his companions.

"But would building a giant robot be really necessary for travel? If anything all I need to do is fix my ship and we'd have a mode of transportation..." He paused to examine the ship again. "Though I'd have to get a new turret gun."

"What kind of ship is it, could it carry all of us? Wait, turret gun! We've got a Mk19 grenade machine gun on the chopper, good against ground targets. But where would we go? I sure as hell ain't waiting around till 2009 and you don't want to wait till you're back in 2010 do you?"
Harper turned back to the cowboy;
"Mr Marston, looks like you are the lucky one. You are the only one who can just ride back to their family house"

"I'm not exactly sure how we managed to time travel here, but the ship can get us pretty much anywhere... Once I have it running. As for a turret, A run like that won't be effective once this gets into outer space again. But I think I can make something from that gun of yours with the right parts." (Jedi Master) Huey explained.

"Right", Harper turned back to the task at hand, "What would you have me do? I am good with ballistics and okay with engines, but I've never seen a model like yours before..."

"Let me worry about the specifics as far as getting the ship fixed. You can help if you want, after that we can go to another planet and try to get the turret fixed."

"Ah. You say 'another planet'. Which one would this be? Alpha Centuri? The underground men of Mars? Wait, you are serious aren't you!"

"Further than that, much further. But I suppose we'll worry about that when the time comes."

And so, (Jedi Master) Huey led Harper inside towards the back with a few tools in hand

"There are plenty of places we can go. But I need to think." If what (Jedi Master) Huey had learned was correct, then he may have traveled to a time before the Darksaber had been corrupted. And if that was true then if he could locate the Darksaber in time then he should be able to prevent it's corruption... There were various other risks, but the Jedi Master began to work them out in his mind.

But first he needed to hide the Darksaber
