Kyre turned to Harry after hearing his speech on the tenets of magic use. She slowly got up, leaving both Fang and Talon on the grass besides Slindis. "Yet there are those that will abuse it to no end," she almost smiled under her mask, "however, as noble as the magus might be, magic itself is still far too manipulable. So this one wills to purge if from the world."

Harry looks at Kyre, "That's why," He said, "There's the white council, and the wardens. If someone were to break the laws, they would be killed near-immediately. Nobody but the most insane dare challenge them." He says.
"Though, I admit, there are people who abuse Magic, but there are people who abuse Science, children, life, death, if it can be abused, it HAS been abused. People are greedy by nature, and, when given power, will use it for whatever they want to. If you were given a nuke to kill every magical being, no matter how powerful, no matter how kind or caring, no matter how little magic they knew, would you use it?"
She should notice that he isn't looking her directly in the eye, like he's trying to avoid it.

"This one has tried once already," Kyre replied severely, standing close to Harry so she was staring up into his eyes, "and it landed this one here."

Kyre turned to the blonde man and gave a disapproving stare. "Magic is not infinite," she finally said, "and the faster mankind adopts an alternative, the better off they all will be."

"So you'll just come with us?"

Mallicos nodded.

"No questions asked?"

Mallicos nodded again. "Clearly you can't harm me. And I have no desire to do you any harm, either. So any violence is senseless."

Dan lowered his rifle. It was...true. He'd never seen anything like it, but their bulletts had just...bounced off him. Like he was Superman or something. Not even that cloak he was wearing was damaged. And these were depleted uranium rounds, no less; they could punch through a tank.

So naturally, Dan thought he was FUBARD, until the thing put up it's hand and said it had no intention of hurting them. Then they talked, Dan convinced it to come with them, and here they were. This was good. This was great, in fact. They'd lost a lot of men today, but this might make it all worth it. Dan might even get a pay raise, or a promotion!

And then a portal opened up right next do the damned thing. It looked at Dan and said, "Change of plans; I agreed to help these people first. I'm going with them." And it stepped through the portal and disappeared. Oh well. At least it didn't kill anyone. Definitely a plus.

Meanwhile...in a grassy meadow...

Mallicos stepped through the portal, taking a deep breath. This was a good place, here. A place of beginnings. Good.

"Greetings, again." Mallicos said to the assembled people. "I apologize for not being more help. Did you find your companion well enough?"

Not sure what to make of this one. But I don't think he'll hurt you. I'm not sure he can, either.

Mallicos hesitantly reached out and shook the figure's hand. "I didn't go anywhere; the entire corridor disappeared around me. I-"

Tell him you don't know what happend.

"...I...don't know what happened." Mallicos said. That was strange. The Rainbow Mantle didn't usually give orders like that, and it had almost sounded panicked. "But it's good to hear that David and Elena are alright. Now, if it's not too personal a question, why were you sitting on all those small...red creatures?"

Whispers in the Dark, the Emerald Silence makes herself known.

Kyre sat down next to Slindis and stared at her hands. Veim spoke to her, he was far, but his presence was still rooted even here. Too much magic to burn, she thought to herself, then perhaps another method. She grabbed Talon and Fang and jumped to her feet. Shet pointed at Lucifer with the two blades.

"Thou shall fight this one, Magus of Sin, and this one will prove that magic is not indomitable!" Kyre wondered to herself if it would even work in this place, and against such a creature of evil.

Slindis notices the orc arriving in full plate and notices the disciplined movements which could only have come from years in combat. Leaving the human to enjoy the area, the drow approached the orc in full plate and felt a comforting tingle from her left arm and decided to approach him while still keeping up a reasonable guard. [color=c20000]"Excuse me, orc, but is it safe to assume you hail from Droaam?"[/color]

Mallicos drew his sword and placed it gently on Kyre's two blades. "Please. There's no need for that."

You're probably wrong.

Ah, a kindred spirit for you. Try to play nice, of course.

Mallicos turned to the Drow standing beside him and smiled. "Sorry, no; I'm from the land of Nosgoth. My name is Mallicos Kelsat. I don't think I caught your name before..."

Mallicos turned his attention to the now armor-clad Lucifer. "Stop it. There is no need for us to fight."

What are you doing?

Violence should never preclude conversation. This person was shaking my hand a minute ago, there has to be a reason for this outburst.

He's like the Dragons, Mallicos. You can't predict his actions, and you can't reason with him.

You don't know that.

"If you're trying to assert your dominance, stop especially. I personally won't stand for imbeciles throwing their weight around. It is needless."

She gave a gentle smile and responded in a light tone. [color=c20000]"I'm certain I'll be able to travel there someday, but I've not heard the name in my travels. You're free to call me Slindis."[/color] She shook his hand with a lightly gauntleted left hand that had seen much combat, judging from the various nicks crisscrossing the well-made metal.

Her eyes never stopped looking across the Origin Plains for other people, and she immediately drew her rapier with her free hand after seeing Lucifer summon his equipment. Although she couldn't place what it was that the blond was, every instinct embedded in her through her extensive training screamed that this man was even more powerful than the various pit fiends if they had pooled their might.

Fight! The God-Tree's Presence

Kyre backed up as Lucifer unveiled his unadulterated form. She could feel his radiance through her armor, yet she could also feel the reassuring grip of Veim's spirit lodged inside her. She shifted her stance and re-gripped her steel so that the blades faced away from the angel. "Veim's spirit rests inside me. His power transcends me. Let there be silence."

Those who could feel it, felt it greatly. "It" being the sudden drop in magical activity in the region, almost as if energy and force had become inert. Those who could not feel the absence of magic soon felt the absence of sound. For there were no noise assaulting the ears of those who stood around.

Kyre charged Lucifer, jumping into the air and trying to plunge her silent blades through his armor.

Dresden grabs Kyre before Lucifer kicks her away, and says to her, "ARE YOU INSANE!" He said.
"I've delt with fallen angels before, killed Nicodamius, leader of The Order of the blackened denarius, and trust me, going against them with 2 daggers is the equivilent of running in front of a... of a falling boulder!" He said.
He then turned to Lucifer, "I'm not good, that I can garantee. I do whatever I can to ensure those who screw around with innocent lives get punished. I might not know everything, either, but I know enough to get by." He said.
Or at least, I think I do.

Harry shrugged, "Boo Hoo, cry me a river." He said.
"Do you know the Aztecs? The Aztecs gods? They were, where I come from, a group of Vampires, posing as gods... though, they were almost as powerful. They took my daughter, and do you know what happened to them?"
He slowly rose higher, "I took them down. 12 people, each almost as powerful as a god, and I took them all down in one fellow swoop."
And what he stated was true, of course... buuuuuuuuuuuuuuut he made sure not to mention the fact he almost died, had to kill his daughters mother, had most of his allies by his side, 2 swords of faith, and another wizard, but still, it's a comparable feat all the same.
"And yeah, I'm a fool. A fool who will do the right thing. I actually have a grave, already made, by someone who tried to kill me. Want me to tell you what it said?
'Harry Dresden, Died doing the right thing.'
That grave was made 6 years ago, and it's still unoccupied. I might be a fool, but I'm no fool to be trifled with. So, leave her alone." he said.

The change was instantaneous and staggering. Not just being weaker and slower, no. Mallicos could deal with that. But The Rainbow Mantle, the great enigma and his best freind, was torn from him. It was like losing an entire sense, like his eyes had been ripped out, or he'd been skinned alive.

Mallicos fell to his knees. He hadn't felt this weak in...years. Maybe a decade. Was all his magic gone? He didn't know. Harry had grabbed Kyre and was dragging her away from Lucifer, telling her how stupid he was for attacking her. Lucifer had sat back down on his makeshift throne, mocking them.

Mallicos stood up, sheathing his sword.[footnote]The sheath is in his shield. So he stuck his sword in his shield.[/footnote]. Questions buzzed through his mind. Was his healing nulled? His stamina and strength were, but was his healing? Was The Rainbow Mantle dead or just weakened?

But conversations had broken down. Now was the time to fight back.

And so Mallicos slung his shield across his back and ran to punch The Lord of The Dammed right in his ugly face.

Mallicos used the momentary distraction of Lucifer's laughter to grab Lucifer's hair and slam the Lord of Darkness's face into an armor-clad knee.

Mallicos hit the ground with a dull thud. Clearly he still had some measure of stamina, maybe a natural ability heightened by his healing. He didn't know. But he was able to get up, and that was something.

On the other hand, Lucifer was still in the air. Mallicos had trouble hitting airborne targets at the best of times. But...

"Slindis? Harry? Can you bring him down?"

Jake let Darren sit up on his own as Aftan, Akane and Gabrielle all stood up and headed back for their seats. Jake too stood up, clapping Mark on the back for his quick thinking. Death took a seat by the door, watching everyone.

Akane however, did not sit down, but instead stood before her Writer.
"Hello Tomoe Akane. I am Jake, your Author. Writer sounds like shit, and I remember a bloody long time ago, I roleplayed in the AA universe with a man called SamG. He was an Author Avatar, himself in the AA world, powerful beyond belief, yet not overpowered. Cool guy, ask Jack about him. Well, I stand here before you, take action as you see fit. I bear you no ill will, nor any regret about how I crafted you." Jake said, standing up straight.
Akane slapped him, the sound of the strike clear and concise.
"That was for putting me through Hell. Literally." she said, anger in her voice.

Then she leaned in and kissed him full on the lips. After a full facemelting minute, she broke off.
"Mmmmm... Not bad. That was for giving me life and guiding me."

Jake stood there, flabbergasted.
"Fluh... Huh.... Bluh... Wow. Oh Gods. I can only begin to imagine what your tails feel like after that...."
"Would you like to touch them? I suppose as my Author I could let you." Akane offered.
"Thanks, but I'll pass. See, I have to visit the Pub after all this, and hop over to a different dimension, that of TeeGee and the Harem Knights. Mah Waifu, another Kitsune, awaits me there. Long story. Say, are we waiting on anybody else? Otherwise, why aren't we airborne?"

Still looking at all the new people coming in, Tomoya decided to put his guitar away fro now. As Lucifer summoned his own wings and dropped the ork Tomoya could only think of one thing. "Those wings are lame....is he some kind of evil butterfly?" Tomoya said to himself as he sighed the thought away.

Touch Fluffy Tail? Touch Fluffy Tail!

"Mark, I ain't leavin' for a while yet! I haven't had a holiday in bloody forever mate. Besides, who is flying this thing then? Oh wait, I can't see Kurumu, so guess it's her eh? Hmm... Recommended tail hug... Ah well, no time like now. Akane, could I please Touch Fluffy Tail?"

Akane sighed, rolled her eyes, and smiled as Aftan and Gabs smirked back at her.

"Don't get lost in there, I don't like having to share!" Gabrielle said in a dangerously happy voice.
"Yes Jake, I suppose it can't hurt you. You heard Gabs though!" Akane said.

Jake merely nodded and grabbed a tail as it swished over his face.

"...This. Is. Heaven...." Jake said as he melted into the soft warm fur of Akane's tails. After a minute or two, he forced himself to let go.

"Well.... Dammit. Now I really want to go to the Pub and go dimension hopping so I can go get mah waifu." Jake said with a sigh as he slumped into a seat next to Mark.
