So a couple of people here have brought me up as significant user on here. It's not the first time I've seen this, so I think I ought to set the record straight.
I'm not.
Sure, I did something different and eye catching back in 2010. I had a 'buddy' with me who often held stark contrasting opinions, manners and behaviour to everyone on here. After all, Calumon was something that still had a child-like state of wonderment. You know what I mean; when kids see the world it's as if they're looking at it with completely different eyes to anyone else and their outlooks can be so fascinating since they usually have such a one track mind. They're interested in what's fun, and that's what Calumon was. Contrasting the general pessimism and cynical ways of the Escapist and hopefully making it more cheerful.
But it all it really was was eye-catching really. Calumon's presence on here has made no change, no sway and no great difference on the site one bit. People here are more cynical, pessimistic and depressing than when I started. I made no difference on the community. Heck, I guess the most that came out of it was the hate messages at the start, me snapping and telling the Escapist to choose whether Calumon stayed or not (That thread was a mess, I was damn stupid to even consider making that, especially how I acted in it) and people recognising me on the Escapist. Of course, they were recognising Calumon rather, not me, naturally. I'm the boring human who gets up every morning and goes to bed when he can't take any more of a day, while Calumon was the fun, 'play-all-day' Digimon who hung around with me and hated British tea because it's "yucky" compared to how it was in Japan. Calumon wasn't for everyone, sure, but then again, The Escapist had the ignore button for a reason, and I'd wager I'm the most ignored user outside the R&P board by a fair while. Hey, I don't blame them too much.
I suppose what really cements me as a background character is that I'm barely here. Look at my posting history and you'll see it's my first time posting this month (Yet I still wear my 'Landmark' badge with pride. It's no Neo, but 3 pints on a profile is better than none.) and my posting has been sketchy since then. I just don't post nearly as much anymore, I suppose. I was never a super fast poster like Daystar or even Furburt (Hey, remember that fella? Wonder how he's doing...) and I was never prolific for my opinions like Demented Teddy and MaxtheReaper (RIP you wonderful, wonderful users). I made nothing of value to this site. Others here do more than I ever did like TimeLord and Sky14kemea. They're active, they're loved, and they certainly didn't screw up the amount I did on this site (I wonder if Susan still dislikes Calumon? Hearing that was quite a shock if I remember right). No, these people are the welcomed regulars and they should be.
Then I hear some people bring me up. A significant user, famous I've heard tossed around once or twice. I'm not. People know the concept of what I did, some actually knowing me. I'm a name, a name that couldn't even push a stamp let alone influence the pillars of this online community.
I was always just that guy with the quirk that was more popular than he was.
Not that I'd ever get rid of him though.
Calumon: ...*hugs*
There goes the 'seriousness' of my post, right Susan?
