Don't take this the wrong way, but I think that the "smartest" sites are ones that don't have people feeling the need to pat themselves on the back for it.

That said it's not bad, which is why I'm spending more time posting here than I have anywhere for a long time.

It's better than most places, but calling it "intellectual" is a huge stretch.

I agree with the bacon man. To call this the "Home of the Intellectual" is disregarding all the Halo threads...and other really, really stupid things I've seen.

With the exception of 4chan and it's pathetic ilk, every thread on every forum has potential to be intelligent discussion. It's the OP, and the posters themselves, that decides the fate of the thread. Religion threads and Politic threads would be nothing to worry about if the zealous fanatics on either side wouldn't bash the ever living life out of the other sides. The moderators have said that they don't mind a little opinion sharing, but if it rises to insults or just the internet equivalent of useless bile, then they'll shut it down and dispense punishment as necessary.

There are some intelligent threads and then there are some, not so much. It's not a perfect community, I think we just try to be more intellectual in order to fit in.

In my opinion, if one of us were to go to 4chan, we'd probably act like /b/tard there.

Now the forums are filled with "whats your favorite _____." or "why dont people like _______." I blame the influx of new members.
