I actually feel kinda dumb in that I didn't bookmark this thread SOONER. I wish I had known about an archive like this before, it would've saved me some time. And yes, it would be nice to update it a bit, but don't push yourself if you don't need to.
Ok... not tonight as I've just come back from my long absense and don't feel like tinkering around with this thread, but tomorrow or sometime in the coming week I will update this thread. So anyone with any suggestions or new threads or threads to remove or similar please let me know and I'll take my mighty editing skills out and change it for you guys. After how long I've been away it's the least I can do.

Seeing as you want some updating, can I recommend:

Lord Krunk's 'The Banhammer and You: A User's Guide to the Forums' Thread [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.112832#2019333] As the mods say: Not the official rules, but it's a damn fine user point of view look and guide to the rules.[footnote]I know you said you wanted to include this in the actual thread, I just felt it should be mentioned here as well.[/footnote]

Nomad's 'Hitchhiker's guide to the Escapist' Thread [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.147439#3392143] A nice and handy guide to the content on The Escapist for lurkers and users alike who feel lost on this site. Just remember to bring a towel.

NewClassic's 'I Bet He's Cockney II: Rise of the Machines' Thread [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/362.143644#3217202] Find out who the men behind the avatars are. Accuracy optional.

Scotth266's 'Your Review And You: Welcome to the Review Section!' Thread [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.120165#2350144] Like Simulord's Review Advice Thread, this is a handy guide for writing reviews and the review forum in general.

NewClassic's 'NewClassic's Writing Theory' Thread [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.111856#1972468] A very important guide to writing in general from the Vault Legend himself.

Higurashi's 'Escapist role-playing and you.' Thread [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/362.116378#2173871] A detailed guide to RPs and playing in them. A must-read for every keen RP'er.

I may think of some more over time and I'm not sure if some of them have already been mentioned. If you need some Genre Wars threads, bodyklok made a community map specially for Genre Wars here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/376.107708]. Feel free to take stuff from there. Also feel free to change the descriptions, I'm not feeling imaginative tonight.

Oh wow! I can't believe the effort you just put in! Thankyou! That's absolutely amazing! I have to be at work in just over an hour so I mightn't still have time to update the original thread, but the work you've just put in here will make things heaps easier, thankyou so much for that!

Your welcome.

A lot of those threads were either bookmarked by me, stickied or both (why I bookmark stickied threads I don't know...) anyway, so it wasn't much difficulty finding them. Specific discussion ones may take a bit more time to find, so I'll give that a miss for tonight. If I find anything else that looks like it could belong here, I'll edit it in another time.

Good to see you back again InS, oh and I'm still plugging away at the cookbook (although classes are getting in the way of internet time).

Well I have a little time before I need to sneak off to work so I can pay the rent, so I'll edit it now with what you've provided, so once again thankyou for your contribution. I'll also need to edit the thanks section for that.

No problem, I'll add this one as well for you. Thanks for the idea! (And nice self plug as well, nothing wrong with that!)

Ok it's done. It's updated with a lot of the new threads. I didn't see much point in putting in the genre wars ones if there is already a thread dedicated to just that. Thankyou to everyone who has helped to put this together, it has made a huge difference.

Shouldn't this be stickied?
The view from the mods has always been that there is an official community map hence they won't sticky this one. If you'd like to use it, please bookmark it, that option seems to work fine. Thanks for your support!

Are you planning on putting [a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/"]user groups[/a] in at some point?
I'm not sure how they could be incorporated, but it would be nice for them to get a bit more publicity.
I don't know enough about user groups yet, they appeared when I was absent from this site. When I find out some more about them I'll look into it then. It is a nice suggestion though, thankyou for that.

Oo! Oo! Can I make a suggestion? Theres been a recent resurrgence of relationship threads, but BonsaiK's Relationship Problem Thread [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.117161?page=1] has been running for a long while now and is full of helpful real life advice for those Escapists who have a tough time with the other sex.

Yup, done. That was a longer thread than I expected to be honest, but it's a nice one so it's gone up. Thankyou for the suggestion.

A suggestion:

WanderFreak's [a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.132544"]'Wandering The Oregon Trail'[/a] and [a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.133713#3013876"]'Drifting Down The Amazon Trail'[/a] threads. A pair of humorous interactive adventures in classic games. The Amazon Trail is currently on hiatus.
I put them in the RP section of the main page, would that be right? I wasn't sure where else they could go.

A suggestion:

PurpleRain's [a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.151264"]How to make a successful thread and win friends' thread[/a]. A convenient guide to authoring successful threads.
Could probably get away with paring that up with Samurai Goomba's 'Creating an Awesome Thread (hint: It does not involve Halo)' Thread [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.149941#3510071] Same idea as ^^.

Scotth266 also did something similar with his Threading Taboos [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.126913#2680801] thread (except that was more on the topic of what is and isn't a good topic for these forums), but that needs a large amount of updating since last time, since all the examples of bad threads have (funnily enough) been 404'd. Also, he hasn't touched it in a while after saying he was going to add political threads to it.

Oh, this has already been mentioned here, but if you haven't noticed yet, Inverse Skies; the Wilson! thread and the Escapist Election have both now been 404'd.

Escapist Election
[a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/362.113974"]Not exactly...[/a] Mobius just deleted all the text.
I got that link from the Community Map, as it seems the link in this thread has in fact been 404'd.
Not necessarily again (check the URLs and the thread numbers specifically, the thread listed in the Community Map and the thread listed here are different). The reason for that was that there were two/ three threads threads for it: One for the parties to be made and policies set, organised and explained (the one liked to here), which was 404'd as Maraveno necroed it about four months after it finished; the second one (the one linked to from the Community Map) was for the actual voting to take place in, as polls can't be added to already existing threads and is only still around because people don't touch it; and the third one was to explain that Darth Mobius was resigning as President and leaving The Escapist because he thought the community here was becoming terrible and after he won they didn't want to take part in his Super awesome post election shenanigans RP [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/362.113974?page=3#2098070] where he'd be overthrown or driven out by the other parties and would therefore have reasoning to actually never visit this site again; that one was inevitably locked and 404'd with a few suspensions being handed out appropriately after a few days.

I'll add both Samurai Goomba's and Purple Rain's threads on here, as well as taking down Wilson and the Escapist Election. It seems that one is long dead, and caused a lot of problems with it. I think some modification of thanks is in order as well, for both yourself and Diagonal Horizontality, you've both been amazing when it comes to this thread.

Ah, sweet immortality.

I noticed Purps had his "thread creation" topic up and felt sad, but then I saw mine was made first and perverse glee coursed through my veins, replacing my white blood cells. I don't remember much after that.
