I all fairness, you're exactly like the rest of us "carbon copies". The only difference is, you have a high post count. So stop acting like you're some sort of God amongst men.
You're not. You are just like the rest of us.
Sorry.
Can you please tell me where you got that interpretation from that post?

I just said that I feel like I've lost connection with those around the Escapist. That the community has moved on without me.

The carbon copies replies to the fact that I simply don't know any of you guys. So you're all the same to me.

Just as YOU are all in the same to us.

We all are carbon copies to each other. Were all part of one, giant, overlapping community.

Just as you consider me a mindless wall of text, I consider YOU a mindless wall of text. It's not like you're the only one to feel this way.

Well then why don't you try to know some of the people here? If you did that I'm sure you would come to the conclusion that not everyone is the same.

Yes, but there was a time that I did not feel this way. And that is what upsets me. I'm not blaming anyone. Its just the way I feel.

This is my point, I already had close ties with people here. But they were lost via banhammerage over time. Now I don't have the same ties.

Well, if you don't like it, leave. Seriously, it's a website on the internet, do you think that people really care about what you say about it?

The forum is moving with the users and feeding the demand that is present.

Well then go make new ties then. How bout starting with me? I remember you posting on a thread I started about texting and used the boondocks vid that had Gin and Rummy talking bout texting. You gave me mad props for showing the boondocks, and that's something we have in common we both love the boondocks.

Heh, I remember that. No one really knows the Boondocks, though its one of the best cartoons I've seen.

Hell yeah I heard the third season is suppose to come out like May or something like that. I love the cartoon because it parody's society so well. I love that episode where people start fighting after a chair gets thrown even though nobody gets hit.

I looked at Pimppeter2's original post and thought he was insulting us but his reply to your first reply helped clear it up. Don't get mad at him for that. He isn't insulting us, just stating how he feels. So don't get angry for that.

Well Pimp, I'm going to be honest with you. There's no way in hell that I can imagine the Escapist forums without you. It's a bit of a shame that you have to withhold some of your real thoughts.

I hope that you can find some comfort in this strange place. I, like you, feel this place took a turn to something uneasy. Someone once said to me that this place was like a get-together club...and it turned into a sports bar. (Or something like that). If I remember right, that "someone" was you.

*Note You can correct me if I'm wrong.

You may have thought that this place has moved on without you, but I still think you're a strong pillar of this community. It's not the post counts. It's your personnality, your charms and the memories of you that are important.

*2nd Note When you think about it, it's kinda strange when some random guy that you barely know says that to you. Right?

But you sir! You have my respects!

I don't know about my feelings for The Escapist now. I despise the stupid fucking internet celebrity bullshit that is here, being indie is being cool, mods over reacting and I hate the stupid threads that we get 90% of the time.

With the internet celebrity thing, you know it's true. You can deny it all you want but you're dying to be able to respond to anyone with a big post count and maybe become their friend. How do I know this? I remember a thread, I can't remember the title but someone with about 500 posts said their opinion and then Furburt said almost the exact same thing. For the next few pages people were discussing his opinion, not the 500 post user.
This is a good example of what I mean
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/6.187858-Extra-Punctuation-Kratos#5775513

He didn't say anything particularly note worthy or interesting and by the 8th post 2 people have sucked up to him. Kind of thing that makes me want to leave some days

This isn't a rare thing as well, I've seen some of the users with over 10,000 posts go completely off topic and said some really stupid shit and people giving them the most response over someone who said something relevant and interesting.
I can't stand 90% of the people with a post count over 10,000 they lack personality, any form of opinion and I get the feeling they post so much here because they lack the social skills in real life. At least I know they all get cocky and start thinking they run this place so they get banned, but there is always someone behind them who will take their place.

Now the indie thing, have you ever gone on to a thread with the title "worst" anywhere? It doesn't have to mean video game, community or culture as long as it has "worst". People will be able to link it back to some big AAA game and say how they hate it. I mean the hate for Halo, Half Life 2, WoW, GoW and any other triple A title will get hate is this thread, somehow.
I am just sick to death about hearing how much a triple A title sucks because most of the time; people never finish the game, it's come from Zero Punctuation and the person is just trying to earn indie points and be "shocking" and "dramatic". You just look stupid and the funny thing is they almost never have a good reason to believe it

The mods being too harsh, well pimpiter just got put on probation for his opinion, okay maybe talking shit about high post count users but no names in particular.

However the videos, the news stories and some of the community are really really good and all of this added up can still make this an enjoyable thing.
I wish The Escapist would get rid of the post counts as a public viewing and maybe only available on their profile, I think discussion would increase for the lower post count users and encourage people to stay

Please remember it's my opinion and you can't change these feelings, I've had them for over 6 months on here

I find it very amusing that you got probation for that post...

As for the rest of this trainwreck of a mess...i told you all. Ive said it quite a lot actually, its just business. If the escapist could compromise its forums or anything else you might like for a profit, chances are good they will do it. Is this greed/bad/etc? Of course not, its just business.
Do you have me on probation lo-jack or something? Does a little alarm ring when I get probated, and its like a firehouse where you slide down the pole?

.....

Were was I going with this?

Yeah, I can understand that it is just business, in fact not a single thing I've posted today is condemning the site. Its just the sudden change that has kind of thrown me over the edge.

And the fact that I cannot publish anything in the publishing club.

I have actually stuck around here for a very long time. I have watched this site long without registering. Perhaps that affects how I see things around here. Perhaps...

But anyway, I have watched and remembered how everything has gone around here for a long time. This site has not really changed all that much. A format change here or there, perhaps a "Big" user gone, or a flood of new ones. Otherwise, as a whole, things have not changed.

Yes, forums appear to repeat themselves, and perhaps we are all just bland walls of text. But you know what? I kinda know some of these walls of text. I do not know them as well as I think I should, but you know what? I'm OK with that. I'm OK with just generally knowing people, and I hope people are OK with generally knowing me.

I'm no damned celebrity, and I don't think people should expect to be one here. If you think your name should be instantly recognizable all times of the day, you are here for the wrong reasons. You are part of a COMMUNITY. Its like being part of WOW, now that I think about it. You do not always work with everyone, nor communicate with everyone, but we are all here anyway.

This may perhaps be my longest, strangest thought out posts I have ever put on here. Perhaps I will make some friends with it, or perhaps some enemies. And personally, I hope I do. Because that is why I signed up on this site. Because I saw people who I might possibly have a good time with, and perhaps a big discussion somewhere along the way.

Like everything else I love, the Escapist annoys me. And I get over it. Besides, I've never had the kind of attachment to the community that Pimppeter or others have had, see, as I hardly ever post. I'll write out a long, thoughtful post, then I'll delete it all and lurk some more. Then I'll write another post, go back, delete it, finish reading the comments, and leave. I've had no more than ten actual conversations with people in this manner.

I don't mean to sound whiny. If I wanted to have a bunch of friends and connections with the community, I would make snappy comments or post my opinion on everything. As it is, I'll probably delete this before I post it. Because, you know, sometimes I don't need anyone else to know my opinion. I don't feel the need to be someone here, to be an icon, a person who everyone recognizes. Most of the current icons would hate me, and I know that. It's unimportant. Why would I bother trying to get to know them?

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to go off on a tangent. My point was that the Escapist's community is changing. Whether that's for better or for worse, only time will tell. What I do know is that I'll only leave when the site loses its thoughtful articles, amusing videos, and interesting gamer news.

I feel it was a bad idea to give people, on an internet forum no less, which there are thousands of, a special badge that can be seen by people who choose not to subscribe to the premium content. Let it be seen by all the other subscribers, not everyone else. No reason to create a rift where one doesn't need to be, right?

Either way, I'm sure this will boil over, dissipate, and it will be accepted by the new generation of Escapists with no recourse.

EDIT: What you are telling me, who has been here for two years without wso much as a moderation notice, is I am not worthy of a special title or any of the other content availible to "premium members" without my wallet, not my post content. They was obviously not what you are shooting for, but that is what it feels like to some people.

Are you having cost issues? I will moderate for free, 6 hours a day. I am sure others will as well. Try out other options to lower your costs first, is all I'm saying. Not all of us are virgins to the advert biz.

Oh you just love attention dont you big boy?

Actually i was browsing these threads...cos theyre entertaining, i love trainwrecks.

Im with you though, i feel this place (as i stated before) is run like day care. If we were truly mature disputes would be settled on our own terms. And there isnt a single thing wrong with telling someone to fuck off. C'est la vie.
I cannot truly say anything bad against the mods, even if they were to ban me today. They've given me a ton of second chances, and they've been really nice to me personally.

I can accept getting shit from the mods if I go out of hand, but what I can't accept is getting shit from other people who "know me". At least people expect it from you so they don't bother you.

I dunno, apparently people think I am in the exact same mood when I'm passionately arguing about something as I am when I'm contemplating a fake invasion of France with Dinosaurs.
