Its simple.. no matter what the rules are, you cant have someone from the future send back his buudy who ends up being his dad because of this event.dathwampeer said:Oh so you can explain exactly how real time travel is going to work then can you?Googenstien said:LOL.. Terminator and Predator has good writing?? no way, Terminator has one of the worst stories ever.. it has the Future happening before the Past. Connor sends back his pal to save his mom from the Terminator, but his pal fucks his mom and that baby IS John Connor - shit cant work that way.
Good'o. Get to it I've been dying to understand the ins and outs of cause and effect in time travelling. No.... Thought not.
In that particular story time is pre ordained. What should happen is going to happen no matter what is changed in the past. It's very possible John Conner only ever existed because skynet existed. If time isn't a constant but a variable then anything is possible when you inject events and beings from another period. It's more like there are fixed points that can't be entirely changed but everything else is open for meddling. In other words the time line never fully repeats itself.
Time might not actually work like that in real life but I think you'll be hard pressed to find some solid proof of that.
The future can not happen before the past, its a major loophole in the movie and easily covered up by just saying "oh its time travel, dont understand it?? then fuck you noob!"
I dont mind loopholes, plot failures or movies where you have to suspend disbelief to get past their issues. But in this case where it was called great writing.. screw that, its horrible writing and James Cameron is a hack.
