LOL.. Terminator and Predator has good writing?? no way, Terminator has one of the worst stories ever.. it has the Future happening before the Past. Connor sends back his pal to save his mom from the Terminator, but his pal fucks his mom and that baby IS John Connor - shit cant work that way.
Oh so you can explain exactly how real time travel is going to work then can you?

Good'o. Get to it I've been dying to understand the ins and outs of cause and effect in time travelling. No.... Thought not.

In that particular story time is pre ordained. What should happen is going to happen no matter what is changed in the past. It's very possible John Conner only ever existed because skynet existed. If time isn't a constant but a variable then anything is possible when you inject events and beings from another period. It's more like there are fixed points that can't be entirely changed but everything else is open for meddling. In other words the time line never fully repeats itself.

Time might not actually work like that in real life but I think you'll be hard pressed to find some solid proof of that.
Its simple.. no matter what the rules are, you cant have someone from the future send back his buudy who ends up being his dad because of this event.

The future can not happen before the past, its a major loophole in the movie and easily covered up by just saying "oh its time travel, dont understand it?? then fuck you noob!"

I dont mind loopholes, plot failures or movies where you have to suspend disbelief to get past their issues. But in this case where it was called great writing.. screw that, its horrible writing and James Cameron is a hack.

He's a hack for using a stable time loop? Seriously? It's the most realistic and reasonable way of time travel working. Thewhole going back to change the past that th sequels used is something that makes no sense.

It would make sense if the whole plot wasnt based off the idea that John Connor sends his friend back in time to protect his mom, but he falls for his mom and ends up getting her preggo and that child is John Connor. The one who sent the guy back in the first place.

So how can John Connor ever send his friend back when it takes John being alive first to happen.. which cant happen until John is somehow alive to do it?? Its so retarded that its unexplanable.. at least to me.

Just came back from it.

It was one of the best action films I've ever seen.

Totally worth watching

All the old-school action heroes unite to make one big, explosion-extravaganza.

Those high and mighty reviewers probably looked for silly little things like plots and deep characters.

Ignore them and juts bask in the awesomeness that is BOOMBOOMBOOM, RATATATATA en...emm, whatever sound you can use to simulate awesome fistfights.
Pretty much this, I'm just seeing it for the sheer violence of the whole thing.

My sound is "Dakka!" for gun fights and there's an internet cookie for whoever figures out what it's from. :D

Most of you tykes arent used to these old style action shoot-em-up movies. I am sure this will be a fine old school movie, but always on video at home! I own a ton of DVD/Blu Rays in the genre but I dont think I ever went to see one in the theaters
If you're only watching this film at home then you are seriously missing out.

The experience is improved tenfold in the theater

I have seen it.

I loved it.

I wish the characters had more depth, but this is balls-to-the-wall action we're talking. They couldn't all be the main characters (Stalone and Statham steal the show).

FAPFAPFAP?

Wait--nevermind.

Also, who gives a shit about the critics? I'll definitely go see The Expendables, and I won't let my opinion be swayed by people who's job is to dissect them based around all aspects: story, characters (and their development), originality, memorability and things like that.

I can enjoy movies critics pan, the most recent example being Repo Men. Also, The Losers, as much as I remember. I tremendously enjoyed a light-hearted action movie, but the reviewers are all like "Everything in this movie has been done before, and done before", while I was all, like, "Shit, do I care? I sure don't, I still liked it a lot".

Everyone knew it will be a trash B action movie. I still wanna see it cause all I expect is over the top action scenes and a lot of unnecessary violence. Good old days of B action movies are gone. This is the last one of the dying breed.

Going to go out on a limb and say that bad reviews for this movie come from people who didn't "get" what they were going for with it.

All those action stars in one movie? How could it not suck. Just because your movie has a cast of big name action stars (And by big names, I mean 2 wrestlers, a washed-up Rocky, a bunch of Martial Artists and a guy who has yet to have an action film where he doesn't drive a car at high speeds....and a bunch of other guys.) doesn't make it good. It means you have the tools to create something good. But more things go into it then just a cast and unfortunately, with an 80 million dollar budget, you think they would have spent it more then just on actors.

Honestly, the only two actors I actually like in this movie are Rourke and Willis, the rest are just a bunch of bland actors who specialize in looking badass. Rourke because I thought his acting in Iron Man 2 was phenomenal, and Willis because he has just always been awesome in my eyes. The movie doesn't interest me, I probably won't go while its in theaters, but that probably won't stop it from being the next big thing for a while. The masses don't tend to go to the movies for much other then for explosions.

i dont see what all the hate is toward revenge of the fallen. its quite literally about a war between two factions of giant shape-shifting alien robots... were you expecting like a sixth sense or district 9 level of intelligence? if so, you need to question your own intelligence and instead of the movie's.

as for the expendables, it looks sweet.
we werent but we were expecting a fun night out. not a epelectic man behind the camera, ridiculously unfunny joke writing, racist charachters and no fucking intelligence behind it. i wasnt expecting the matrix but i was expecting some kind of decent back story

I liked the transformers movie

but if your talking about the worst movie ever:

I'll take your shark Boy and Lavagirl and raise you...

Actually disaster movie was actually kinda funny. No legendary parody/comedy but I found it enjoyable

Eh, I pay attention to reviewers when I agree. If I don't like what they're saying, then I ignore it.
Pirates of the Caribbean [original] only got 2 1/2 stars in the newspaper where I live, yet something like Lilo and Stitch got 4/5. Both are great movies, and both have their flaws.
To me, if you wanna go see it, go see it. The movies aren't being aimed at the people who are going to give it 1/5 stars... They're being aimed at the target audience, obviously. Perhaps the specific critic doesn't LIKE action films, but is more into the "artsy" field. Hey, I never liked Momento, but I get ripped on that enough.

Bottom line, if you think it looked good, then go see it. It's aimed for people like you who WOULD enjoy it, and so that around 13 dollars to go see it in theaters can be REALLY worth it.

Personally, I'm more psyched to see Scott Pilgram than the expendables. But that's me.

Question now is, if I read a bad review is this movie still worth seeing?
In this case, you are going to know if you will like it or not by its subject matter. Do you, individually, want to see Sly with a bunch of other testosterone poisoned Neanderthals blow stuff up real good in a cheesy, Grind House retro fashion or not? If not, this movie is not for you. If so, this movie EXCEPTIONALLY delivers.

My problem with the critics on this movie is that, they should know this. I'm going to hit up Rotten Tomatoes for find some of these negative critiques to try to figure out what they were thinking.

I saw this last night, I wanted to see the Neanderthals blow stuff up real good and get that retro nostalgic thing going, and that is what happened.

I've seen a number of movies this Summer, and this one had the most positive audience response I've witnessed in a long time. They laughed, cheered, shouted out and applauded at all the right times in the full house I attended.

A decent review was in Entertainment Weekly and noted something kind of cool: this movie doesn't have all sorts of super electronic computerized surveillance and intelligence gathering scenes. Again, these guys just blow stuff up real good. Awesome.

I hope this does well.

btw transformers 1 and 2 both sucked michal bay cant direct for shit substituting explosions for plot lines
